I need to get drunk - what's a nice, easy drink to have that will help me get drunk fast

I know I probably should immature saying I need to get drunk. I do have a mature relationship with alcohol and I have limited amounts of alcohol. I'm going through a tough patch and I need to do this. I just need to go and get drunk.

When I was younger I used to mix drinks on a night out. I would drink pinks followed by shots and other easy drinks alcopops followed by some hardcore stuff like tequila slammers and or aftershock. Sambuca appeared in my nights out too when I was younger. The best drink ever to have me on the floor or on a table was the snakebite drinks.

I'm not able to drink like that anymore. I have safe drinks like vodka and cranberry juice and I know my limit and I drink water in between drinks. My current drinks of choice is a peach schnapps with cranberry juice and I also like fat frogs too.

I am going through a bad patch and I need to get drunk. I can't get drunk on my safe drinks.

Can anyone recommend drinks that are easy and tasty to drink and something that will help me get drunk.

Thanks

Not what you want to hear, but don't do it. It won't fix anything and you'll just feel awful tomorrow. And possibly rough for several days afterwards. What about doing something else to let off steam?

Workyticket · 07/05/2022 23:00

Nobody sensible will suggest drinks to get you pissed.

It's never the answer and getting drunk really, really won't make you feel better.

FabulousKilljoys · 07/05/2022 23:01

I don't think anyone is going to encourage you to get drunk, sorry.

Honestly , getting drunk won’t help. Can you call a friend ? Sending a hug x

ladydimitrescu · 07/05/2022 23:06

You don't need to get drunk. Drinking on a night out with friends having fun, is different to drinking alone to try black out whatever is happening in your life. It's not the answer.

Ishacoco · 07/05/2022 23:06

Glass of wine with spirits added. That does it for me.

(Although I would encourage you to really think about whether this is a good idea or not).

dropthevipers · 07/05/2022 23:37

A few vodka martini's should do it. Gets coat.

Lunatic soup - Guiness and cider, half and half.
Or White Lightning cider with vodka.

To avoid a hangover, drink lots of water before going to bed - drink water till you can't drink any more, and then drink some more water anyway.

@Ishacoco

I've never had a spirit in wine? What do you have?

@SummersBreeze how did your evening go? I can't get 'drunk' these days, I just go from sober to feeling tired/sick. It's no fun anymore, AtAll.
We're here if you want to talk about why you wanted to get drunk! X

mrsfollowill · 08/05/2022 00:16

Don't do it OP - why do you feel you need to get drunk?
I'm a bit hammered myself at the mo I confess! but DH and I have had a nice meal with fizz/wine/drinks afterwards.
The poster who suggested a shot in a glass of wine made me laugh- I knew a barmaid in the 1980's who was in her 60's at the time and her drink of choice was a whisky and red wine. It does get you drunk though.

BelperLawnmower · 08/05/2022 00:17

Just put vodka into something you fancy drinking. Posh fruit juice, a smoothie, a cup of tea, mango lassi, doesn't really matter, vodka will render it intoxicating!

Leanne1191 · 08/05/2022 02:05

Instead of getting drunk and feeling crap tomorrow and for the next few days because I get that when I feel low and drink why don’t you private message someone on here and have a rant? Call a friend? Write in a journal? 💋

TikTokCat · 08/05/2022 02:09

I got drunk last night and am now throwing up so I hope you didn't.
Hope you're ok

veronicagoldberg · 08/05/2022 07:29

Grow up.

RobinHumphries · 08/05/2022 07:30

Actually there is a sensible way. White wine spritzer or white wine and lemonade. The carbon dioxide allows the alcohol to enter your bloodstream more quickly so you feel drunk faster and you stop drinking so you’ve actually had less to drink

EarringsandLipstick · 08/05/2022 07:32

I hope you're ok this morning OP 💐 and can have a chat with someone about what's going on

tiredanddangerous · 08/05/2022 07:33

Any alcoholic drink will get you drunk if you drink enough of it. I hope you're ok op.

Hello OP, we are really sorry to hear you are feeling this way.
We hope you don't mind, but when these threads are flagged up to us we usually add a link to our Mental Health resources. You can also go to the Samaritans website or email them on [email protected]. Support from other Mumsnetters is great and we really hope you will be able to take some comfort from your fellow posters, but as other MNers will tell you, it's really a good idea to seek real-life help and support as well.

We also like to remind everyone that, although we're awed daily by the astonishing support our members give each other through life's trickier twists and turns, we'd always caution anyone never to give more of themselves to another poster, emotionally or financially, than they can afford to spare.

Some further support links:

Very best wishes from MNHQ.

springdaffs - usually gin in wine!

briancormorant · 08/05/2022 13:38

At least buy quality stuff, If you want to do it slowly try white wine. Start with light German or Moselle types then for second bottle South African or New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Two bottles then stop and relax with a nice cup of tea. It will happen, you will get drunk.
If speed is essential try different Vodkas, I remember to Polish one with a European Bison on the label.

Antarcticant · 08/05/2022 13:40

Your 'safe drinks' will get you drunk if you drink them in sufficient quantity. But I wouldn't - think of how shit you will feel tomorrow.

Roseteacups · 08/05/2022 13:56

Crazy post... if it has alcohol in it, you can get drunk. The higher the percentage the quicker you get drunk. Surely it's that simple.....

hihellohihello · 08/05/2022 13:56

Why not spend the money you would spend to get yourself on drunk on something nice instead?

Clothes?
Book?
Nice chocolate/cheese/cake?
Makeup?

hihellohihello · 08/05/2022 13:57

Or go and see a film?

Cascais · 08/05/2022 13:57

Hot toddy
