Good morning all! What are you up to today?

I'm just enjoying my first brew of the day; I'm watching the caterpillars that arrived yesterday, and have the kitchen window open so I can hear the birds singing away. Lovely & peaceful!

The washer's on it's first of two loads to be done, last night's pots are waiting to be washed (Friday is bear minimum night here) and the upstairs floors need hoovering. Other than that there's not much housework to do.

I think we're heading back to the Oriental supermarket we found last week, and the market. Both girls want to do some more kitchen experimenting. Dd2 wants to attempt boba & I think they're the only place in town that will sell agar powder, and dd1 wants to try making traditional mochi.

Later on; I'll show the girls what the caterpillars eat from the garden & hopefully get a few more rounds of dinosaur crocheted. I'll probably watch more "caterpillar tv", as dd1 has been calling it, they're fascinating! 🤣

Dd2 has homework so I expect she'll start that, and dd1 will carry on with her coursework for her Drama GCSE.

Not a clue what's for tea yet - I'll decide before we head out 🤷‍♀️

What about you lot? 🙂

I'm watching our new kittens race around playing and listening to Radcliffe and Maconie (me listening, not the kittens).
I too may go to the Chinese supermarket later, but I plan to go for a walk and do some gardening in the sunshine.
Crochet dinosaurs sounds interesting. Are you, per chance, of a similar feminist stance to me, OP?

Breathmiller · 07/05/2022 08:56

Morning lucysmam

Breathmiller · 07/05/2022 09:00

Woops. Not sure what happened there. It all went all over the place.

Anyway, I have done some yoga and had a shower. Made some food for the shared lunch today.

I'm enjoying a coffee and some dates and nuts before heading out to a training day for a course I'm doing.

Home later to the house to myself for a bit before the troops arrive back from their day out at the cinema and visiting family.

It's a bit dreich here today in South Scotland but it might lift later.

Happy Saturday all.

ChickenGotLegs · 07/05/2022 09:01

Just got to work for a 12 hours shift. She's already shouting and arguing with her imaginary boyfriend and his bit on the side and talking to her doll....

It's going to be another long day 🤦‍♀️

veronicagoldberg · 07/05/2022 09:04

I've packed DH off to synagogue, put out some toys for toddler DD, and am now enjoying a coffee and MNing on the sofa with DCat!

Vampirethriller · 07/05/2022 09:04

Just had waffles and butter and marmalade for breakfast (Aldi fancy seasalt butter, highly recommended) and I'm making some fruit leather in the dehydrator.
Then I'm taking the dog and DD3 to a park we've never been to before for a picnic with my friend. It's a lovely day, I've got a new frock on and I feel fabulousGrin

AllotmentTime · 07/05/2022 09:05

Morning all!

I’m in bed enjoying a much needed lie in. Been working late a lot this week and it has caught up with me. But it’s DH’s turn to get up and do the DCs’ swimming, so happy days 😊

I’m planning a workout while they’re out, then DH is out with friends later and I might take the children to a local fete. I’m hoping they’ll be up for that and not whinge. If they complain then I’ll drag them to the allotment instead and they can watch me dig- that’ll learn ‘em!

Dinner tonight is me having a go at cooking pad Thai. Thoughts and prayers for my family, my cooking can be erratic.

Thislittlekitten · 07/05/2022 09:07

Morning @lucysmam and everyone.

Staring the morning with a cup of tea and cuddling the cats. DH and kids are still asleep. Very unusual but it’s been a long week. I plan on making a big breakfast soon.

Working a king shift tomorrow so plan on a nice day today. Maybe a walk through the woods this afternoon.

Coastalcreeksider · 07/05/2022 09:10

Watching the pigeon at the moment, once again building a nest in my tree at the bottom of the garden, they had one about six weeks ago but something got the egg (I found it on the grass). Maybe they'll have better luck this time.

Waiting for someone to pick up some tomato plants this morning that I replied to a Freecycle ad yesterday, then hopefully going to town to meet my best friend, mooch about the shops, probably buy yet more plants from the plant man in the market then go to the library for coffee/tea and toasted tea cake, then calling in on aunt and uncle on the way back to my house, make sure they are ok and don't need anything.

Home, glass of wine, cook something for tea, water garden/pots, slump on sofa!

DinosaurRenaissance · 07/05/2022 09:30

Morning all!

It's lovely and sunny here today so I'm hoping to get out on the garden and get some bits done. The shady border needs weeding and trimming back, and the patio needs sweeping. I also need to go food shopping.

DH is holed up in the study writing a job application so the baby and I will try to keep quiet until he's done!

Later we'll take DD out for a walk if the weather stays nice.

No idea what's for lunch or dinner yet -
I'll work that out before I go to Sainsburys.

MangoJuice008 · 07/05/2022 09:38

We've had a really busy couple of weeks and my body needs to rest as my joints keep trying to dislocate on me. Blush
Need to do a food shop and then DH can entertain the DC while I put my feet up with my book.
Bit boring but it's needed!

Smallorangecat · 07/05/2022 09:40

I am doing nothing and going nowhere because I have Covid. I am not really ill, so will spend the day trying to entertain DC while looking sadly out the window at the sun!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 07/05/2022 09:44

I’m currently sitting in the conservatory wrapped in a blanket with the door open - it’s a damp dreich day here in Scotland! We had a late night round at friends’ house yesterday so the kids are still asleep. Quiet day - I am having a lovely time sitting here with my cup of tea in peace and silence!

Can we see the pretty new frock, vampirethriller?

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 07/05/2022 09:47

Driving to swimming with 3 x DCs and DH now - then home after and everyone will have a bit of Easter chocolate as a reward for starting a new stage.

Then DD1 off to a party with DH and I will take 4yo twins to garden centre to hopefully find some lavender to plant in front garden as part of ongoing efforts to do up house to look less of a tip okay before putting it on the market next year just in time for the house price crash

AledsiPad · 07/05/2022 09:48

Morning @lucysmam!

DH is out at golf this morning. DS2 and DD are currently making paw patrol cupcakes (they are DS2's - he's 14 Grin ) together and having a whale of a time, whilst I drink tea before I head up for a shower.
Once DH gets home, he is removing DDs old bed and putting her new (actually old) one and new wardrobe in her room. She and I are off out whilst he does that to visit dunelm and home sense and wander round to look for bits for her 'new' room. She doesn't actually know we're doing this, she just knows we're going shoppping, so quite excited!

DS1 is at cadet camp all weekend. DS2 is off to the cinema with friends to see Doctor Strange and DS3 will be hiding in his bedroom avoiding all the chaos from DDs room no doubt! He has ASD and uses Saturdays to decompress from the week by staying in his room all day.

DD is desperate for a BBQ for dinner but it's not quite the weather, so we'll be having home made donner kebabs instead.

OldTinHat · 07/05/2022 10:01

Morning all! I'm jut about to clean out my axolotl and then meeting friends this afternoon for a walk and a natter.

Beautiful day out!

bluechameleon · 07/05/2022 10:03

I got up and enjoyed a bit of peace listening to Today whilst cleaning the kitchen and unloading the dishwasher, then DS2 "helped" me make breakfast so now the kitchen needs cleaning again! It has stopped raining so I'm going to wander into town with however many DC want to come, buy a few bits and take them to Lego Club at the library. Then this afternoon DH is taking them somewhere so I can try to catch up on my mountain of work. Might do a film or board game tonight.

Pasithea · 07/05/2022 10:04

Waiting for the electric to go off for three hours. 😕😕😕😕

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 07/05/2022 10:12

Morning @lucysmam and all. Tell us more about the caterpillars @lucysmam is it one of those kits?

We've had a slow morning Ive not long got up been having tea and toast in bed with the iPad. All windows open its lovely.

Just got the usual Saturday morning uniform wash on, well the first of 3 anyway. Will put on line in a bit. Debating another cup of tea!

Need to finalise ocado ready for tomorrow then after lunch we are heading to the woods for a good stomp through the woods think it's much needed for all.

Hopefully home around 4.30 then dinner...not sure yet thinking of pasta arrabiata with sausage meat, or maybe spaghetti carbonara. Either way it will be pasta.

Wine and TV for DH and I when children asleep. We want to try that new policy series...DI Ray I think it's called?

Happy Saturday all.

BigRedDuck · 07/05/2022 10:15

Just sitting in the car on MN while DS is at his new taekwondo class. DD has already had a hormonal meltdown this morning and is in a strop with me. I went to a gig last night and had two coffees at 10:30pm to get me through the drive home and consequently had an awful night's sleep!
BIL is here from Australia and coming over this weekend. We were hoping to have a BBQ but it's very wet and miserable this morning. Supposed to brighten up this afternoon. I want to go back to bed, but need to take DCs shopping for yet more clothes and school shoes because they are growing so damn fast. Make it stop!

maddiemookins16mum · 07/05/2022 10:16

Up at 6.30, tea, showered, wash on. At Aldi by 8am. Home, shopping away, DH has done most of the housework already. I have plans to clean and tidy our Conservatory which has become a bit of a dumping ground as was too cold to use as my office space - I give it a month before it’s too hot to work out there. Off to Matt Alans later for some WFH clothes for the summer. Homemade Chicken Kyiv, fries and salad for dinner and I’m slow cooking a Gammon for tomorrow. We’re watching the Jimmy Savile thing on Netflix, so will finish that tonight (horrendous viewing but fascinating how ‘well’ he was thought of by so many important people).

Haveatakeaway · 07/05/2022 10:22

I did a good clean yesterday so minimal jobs today. Got a load of washing in to be hung out. Going to have a bbq later I think. Kids are drawing and I'm reading my book in the sun

Bouledeneige · 07/05/2022 10:30

I've been up since 7.30 but sat in bed still. I had a slice of toast and jam, fruit and coffee in bed. I've planned a weekend away and watched some videos and am now watching the latest Sewing Bee episode.

Today I'm going with my best friend for a walk in Richmond Park and then late lunch at a Korean restaurant where her daughter is working. No other plans really - I will go with the flow. Maybe cinema this evening.

Simonjt · 07/05/2022 11:11

Morning everyone.

We’ve had pokèmon pancakes (never ever make your child picture pancakes, they’ll never eat normal ones again) for breakfast.

We’re going to Queer Britain later, they’ve put on a day for our rugby club.

Social worker visit later, so we need to tidy up a bit, the livingroom is covered in a shredded teddy at the moment (dog is an expert toy destroyer).

We’re going bowling tonight, my son has never been and he finally nagged me into agreeing, he is a terrible terrible loser, so there will be tears and a strop when he doesn’t do very well.

lucysmam · 07/05/2022 12:01

@Plantsandpuddlesuits they're British Emperor moth caterpillars & are about ready to cocoon. They're from the lady who pinned dd2's first mantis, & mainly for school so the children can see the process irl. They will, however, need a place to live while they hang, and to go in the fridge from Sept to March, so we've set them up in our pop up net enclosure.

Hopefully, next year, the moths will mate & we can see the whole process from start to finish, in school.

The dd's have given them all Minion names, apart from Gerard Way (dd1 🤷‍♀️)...not that you can tell them apart 🤣🤣

Good morning all! What are you up to today?
