Good Morning Mumsnet! What are we all up to on this Bank Holiday Monday?

(Yep, I know we're not all English, & that we don't all have a bank hol today. Just before anyone jumps on me!)

Anyway, I'm just finishing my brew & considering going to get dressed. I feel a bit sorry for myself so might have another drink first - I slept funny & my neck is really sore 🙄

I need to iron school shirts, & we're off to Asda for caster sugar for dd2's baking at school on Weds, then organising her ingredients (she does drama after school tomorrow, then we're straight out, so there won't be time then).

Apart from that, I think it'll be a fairly slow day. I might do some of my crochet life cycle - I ended up with different sized wings yesterday so put it away.

Not sure what's for tea yet. Possibly frozen fish & chips, unless one of the girls wants to cook something more exciting. We'll see!

What about all of you?🙂

Sat in bed eating breakfast then off to Morrisons for bread (so exciting). Then we are going to a garden that's local to us as I have the 2for1 card from the gardeners world magazine which will save a bit of money.

We are planning on having a kebab for dinner.

Have a lovely day and hope your crocheting goes better today (I wish I could crochet).

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 02/05/2022 09:29

Morning @lucysmam you should put pics up of your crochet they all sound so interesting!

Ive just hung a load of washing out and it's started to rain so going to have to get that all back in!

We are off to a nature reserve today we are members we go there alot. Taking a picnic but it might end up being a car picnic if it's chilly / rainy.

Hoping to be home around 5, spaghetti meatballs for dinner I made them yesterday so just need to cook them when we get in. Easy tea that everyone enjoys. They are a mix of turkey and pork.

School / nursery stuff pretty much sorted for tomorrow just need to double check it later

lucysmam · 02/05/2022 09:37

@tapdancingmum it took me many years of trying & failing to master crochet. I originally started because my friend was making all these little stuffed animals & I wanted to!

@Plantsandpuddlesuits I've attached a few pics below - Rex is for my friend's ds, the caterpillar and her egg for my life cycle, and dd1's slipper socks.

You've reminded me; I could do with getting the washer going too <sigh>

Off to gym (when I can get myself off Mumsnet). Out for lunch/wander in our local small town, then interview prep tonight 😭

Bearsbearsbears40 · 02/05/2022 10:04

Oh it’s nice to have a bank holiday. Lazy morning here as we went out for a meal and a couple
of drinks last night - it wasn’t a late night though although the train home took an hour. Sorting washing etc this morning then food shopping later. I was hoping to have a barbecue later but it does look very cloudy outside, might buy some barbecue bits and freeze them for next time if the weather doesn’t improve. Definitely going to catch up on my book and jigsaw today too.

NAME3CHANGE · 02/05/2022 10:05

Washing is going to go out soon and im going to get up.

Daughter off to boyfriend's nanas birthday lunch , then shes going for a trial waitress shift this tea time.

Im going to muck out sons bedroom as hes gone to a trampoline party.

Might go for a short walk with the bestie and her doggo later.

Daughter has already cleaned the kitchen so I would buy her some flowers to take with her to the party. This seemed like a great swap to me ha.

Then back to work and school tomorrow. I work in a school part time m,tand w , so its a lovely short week this week !

catlovingdoctor · 02/05/2022 10:06

Chilling out at home as got back from a weekend away early this morning. Resting in bed, sorting things out for the week ahead.

Icequeen01 · 02/05/2022 10:22

I'm taking my elderly mum to see the Downton film this afternoon. She's so excited 🤣

watcherintherye · 02/05/2022 10:32

Weather’s a bit meh atm, but we might go out for a walk this afternoon. Just about to tear myself away from MN and clean out the cat’s bowls. Dh upstairs doing Wordle. Youngest (and only one at home) ds still in bed, ‘resting and getting his head in the right place’ for later revision for upcoming A Levels!

unravioling · 02/05/2022 10:33

Dh has gone to buy a printer.

Dd is in her room pottering around.

I have just finished a cup of coffee and I'm waiting for the food shop to arrive. Then I'll unpack that and tidy up in the kitchen.

We are planning to get out in the garden in a little while. We've got various shrubs to put in.

I'm going to do pork burgers tonight for dinner I think. Perhaps with an apple coleslaw and some potato wedges.

All in all a nice quiet, calm day.

NAME3CHANGE · 02/05/2022 10:50

Update. Washing is now out.

Mydogisagentleman · 02/05/2022 10:51

its my birthday, I’m gonna drink what I like, I’m going to eat what I like..
Actually I’m going to work later, home by 9, then work tomorrow and having my birthday on Wednesday when me and DH will go to the beach with the dog and have lunch out.

lucysmam · 02/05/2022 10:52

Happy birthday @Mydogisagentleman 🥳🎂

We have Grandma here today, shes taking my son to the cinema later, the best of luck to her, she’ll need it 🤣

Today is houseplant maintenance day, so that’ll
keep me busy most of the day, a few need repotting etc.

maddiemookins16mum · 02/05/2022 11:00

We had a lie in, DD is off to work. I’ve just done us a cooked breakfast and we’re all tidy (plus a washing hung out). We’re doing some gardening for a few hours then I’m making us an Afternoon Tea for this evening (sandwiches x 2 types, quiche, veggie frittata, sausage pies (homemade), scones with jam and cream, Victoria sponge (homemade by MIL) and lashings of tea. We have a couple of MILs pals from Church coming so I’m expecting lots of sherry guzzling and funny stories (they are a hoot and not one of them a day under 90).

Pascha · 02/05/2022 11:01

Ds2 has gone to play crazy golf with a friend. Ds1 is bumbling about til he goes to meet his friend this afternoon. DH is going to mow the lawn, he will probably rope Ds1 in somehow. I've got a massive stack of ironing to plough through. Can't wait.

AskingforaBaskin · 02/05/2022 11:06

Working from home with three kids. I am happy tea exists... and decides. They are only 8,6 and 2 so I just need them to zombie a but for today. So annoyed the weather is shit

Crunchymum · 02/05/2022 11:17

I left all the drudge work this weekend so need to catch up (homework, ironing, baths etc. Kids shower rest if the week due to time / energy but they all get very excited to have a big foamy bath to themselves #simplethings #makethemostofitwhileitlasts)

We were up early though so we've hit a few parks, had a long scoot. May well venture for a hot chocolate and a window shop after lunch.

User48751490 · 02/05/2022 11:21

Lots of sex and probably squeeze in a film.

BashfulClam · 02/05/2022 11:26

I have covid so I’m coughing my guts up! I’m tripled jabbed ffs!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 02/05/2022 11:29

Mostly eating and watching films because the weather here is a crock.

Falafel for dinner so that gives plenty of opportunity for kitchen pootling later on...

RainbowToes · 02/05/2022 12:52

I'm catching up on paperwork. Have been for a dog walk with my mate this morning. I'm going to start making some bunting later. It's to hang up when I go camping with some mates later this month.

gingercat02 · 02/05/2022 13:04

We're going to a wedding later so bacon sarnies for breakfast and then a bit of a pamper and ironing. Very excited, love weddings unlike most of MN

Eggsley · 02/05/2022 13:08

I had a lovely lie in until 10am when DS1 woke me up to say he'd blocked the toilet again Envy

We've been to the garden centre to choose some plants for our pots, so will be potting them this afternoon, and I have a house plant that needs re-potting too.

Having a quick lunch of sausage rolls and crisps first.

DS1 wants to go to the park to meet his friend later, it's in the next village so he will need a lift, so he's being very polite and chatty at the moment.

Steak and chips for dinner and I need to sort my nails this evening before work tomorrow. I could do with sorting out our room as it's become a bit of a dumping ground, but that might have to wait until tomorrow evening.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 02/05/2022 13:10

I have cleaned and tidied up, cooked lunch and put a second load of washing on.
DH walked DDog earlier, I will take her out later.
I slept very badly last night so feeling meh ☹️
Doing not a lot this afternoon!
