Pregnant and hungry. I really want something that has crunch, is crispy and savoury that isn't crisps!

But I don't know what I want.

What do I want?!

Corn crackers (like rice cakes, but thinner and much tastier) with peanut butter. Divine!

TheVolturi · 02/05/2022 09:29

Crispy salt and pepper chicken, but the takeaway will not be open yet!

SheilaWilde · 02/05/2022 09:31

Findus crispy pancakes.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 02/05/2022 09:32

You probably want the maple cured home smoked pork belly I'm making today. Tough Grin

Marty13 · 02/05/2022 09:34

Peanuts ? My first thought was really crunchy chicken nuggets.

@JesusInTheCabbageVan that does sound amazing, can I have some ? Also can you please share the recipe ?

Prawn toast and crispy seaweed?

Japanes “tempura style” seaweed crisps

cheese crispy bits made by frying grated cheese
in a dry non-stick pan until it turns into little lacy pancakes

Spudlet · 02/05/2022 09:35

Toast with butter and a slice of ham on it. Nice ham. Naice ham, even.

geminiflanagan · 02/05/2022 09:36

Scampi fries. The kind you get in the pub. They are a level up from crisps and amazing.

Chewbecca · 02/05/2022 09:38

Ritz biscuits

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 02/05/2022 09:38

DragonOverTheMoon · 02/05/2022 09:41

I immediately thought of coleslaw OP. Or sahara hot nuts.

thismeansnothing · 02/05/2022 09:42

Scampi fries
Prawn crackers
Poppadoms
Prawn toast
Baked chickpea snacks
Those savoury cheese snack mix biscuit things

N0va · 02/05/2022 09:43

MrsLargeEmbodied · 02/05/2022 09:45

rice cakes, salt and vinegar

Handyweatherstation · 02/05/2022 09:49

Crispy chicken wings 😘

Foodbanksshouldbeobsolete · 02/05/2022 09:50

Salt and vinegar pork scratchings
Baked soya beans, chickpeas or fava beans with plenty of salt
Vegetable crudités
Pickled onions
Tempura prawns

Daenerys77 · 02/05/2022 09:50

Crispbread with peanut butter and, if you are really hungry, a slice of Cheddar or other strong cheese on top.

Foodbanksshouldbeobsolete · 02/05/2022 09:52

Pretzels dipped in peanut butter
Bread sticks dipped in hummus
Cheese and crackers

UnaOfStormhold · 02/05/2022 09:53

I was absolutely obsessed with breaded chicken breasts, not nuggets as they were too small. Something about the crunchy salty protein combo just hit the spot.

hullaballoo19 · 02/05/2022 09:53

Salt and vinegar chickpea mix (co op) was the first thing that came to mind..
Crackers with something (I'll put most things on a cracker 😂)
Doritos and dip
Cheese straws

The recipe is pretty straightforward - just maple syrup, brown sugar and salt (and I've added a splash of bourbon) but you'll need a home smoker, which is the tricky part!

When I was pregnant and I had this exact desire I used to make myself the most extravagant tuna sandwiches, with lots of pickles and mayonnaise.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 02/05/2022 10:00

When I was pregnant, my thing was tuna and sweetcorn wraps with huge amounts of mayo, sea salt and (absolutely crucial) about half a red onion, finely chopped and mixed in.
