As you can probably tell by the username, I was blown away by the musical this week seeing it on tour.

Has anyone else seen it?

God no!! Can't think of anything worse to watch.

I imagine this will date badly!

It's on a current UK tour selling out each night so it can't date badly, surely?.

I understand where you're coming from, but having seen it this week, I was blown away.

Whens is it set? Am assuming in the past as I can't see why it's so earth shattering that a male wants to be a drag queen these days?

pooktline · 30/04/2022 22:05

I loved it - even if it dates, surely that just means end of run?

The movie is really good too Smile

It's based on a true story about a child. Despite people's opinions, it ultimately ends up thar he realises he doesn't want to be a drag queen. He just wants to be able to wear dresses.

Pp is giving us a heads up to the dislike of dray queens on Mn.

They were both amazing.

I liked the Hugo film song better than the cabaret, and i think the musical makes the dad totally redundant. But on the whole they match up.

'No haters/different opinions allowed ok' ? 🤔

BluebellField · 30/04/2022 22:12

I loved it OP. Very good and very talented performers.

I found some of the script difficult to understand but there were subtitles at the side of the stage for hearing impaired people that I used.

IstayedForTheFeminism · 30/04/2022 22:15

I haven't managed to see it live but I love the film version.
The documentary about the real Jamie is good too.

guinnessandblackcurrant · 30/04/2022 22:15

Saw it recently and loved it.

SushiGo · 30/04/2022 22:17

We loved it. Cast is brilliant, particularly the actress playing the mum.

lap90 · 30/04/2022 22:30

I saw it on the West End and thought it was fantastic!

Babyroobs · 30/04/2022 23:09

My dd was just playing some music from this musical as we went to see it a year or so ago and she was saying she would love to go again.

Musicalmaestro · 30/04/2022 23:36

I saw it I London a few years ago and really enjoyed it. It was a talented cast.

No, I'd be happy with that.

I responded positively to the original pp.

A pp asked why someone said it won't age well so I answered her. That okay?

Yes, depending who you see (we saw Layton) the dialogue can be very fast.

How come? I like the username (incidentally, as much as I wanted to like it, I hated cats!)

I've not as I don't enjoy musical theatre.
