I'm not sure I could take the crushing disappointment of winning nothing.

I'd take the guaranteed million 100%

Camomila · 30/04/2022 10:56

I'd take the million, it would buy a nice house and a bigger car and then our lives would carry on as normal.

I think I'd be really stressed if I won a billion!

thefirstmrsrochester · 30/04/2022 10:57

Guaranteed million.

MyBrilliantFriend · 30/04/2022 10:58

Definitely the million. Then we’d have no mortgage which would have a guaranteed impact on our lives. It would be plenty!

pbdr · 30/04/2022 11:10

Definitely the million. Extremely large lottery wins tend to be pretty life ruining for a lot of people. I think the billion, even if you won it, could cause more problems than it would solve.
A million would be enough to give us great financial stability and some nice luxuries without being a life ruining amount of money.

GonnaFlyNow · 30/04/2022 11:12

The million absolutely. We could pay off our mortgage and DH could take a lesser paid role that gives more of a work life balance.

watcherintherye · 30/04/2022 11:13

Ooh! Which competition? Can you share the link, op? Grin

Greatoutdoors · 30/04/2022 11:13

Guaranteed million. That would sort me out nicely.

LollyLol · 30/04/2022 11:14

Guaranteed million. Easy!

stuntbubbles · 30/04/2022 11:14

For a guaranteed million I could buy a baller house and do it up to the nines, furnish it, get an electric car and cover childcare fees til school age plus punt some into pension and savings, then work the bare minimum. For 50/50 a billion or nothing, I could either do all of that but on a bigger scale, which I don’t need, or have fuck all. Guaranteed eggs, not potential chickens.

BendingSpoons · 30/04/2022 11:14

Definitely a million. You could buy a nice house for around £7/800k (ranging from OKish to mind blowing depending where you live!). Keep some left over for whatever you prioritise e.g. holidays, school fees, hobbies, nice cars. Then if you have no mortgage/rent you have much reduced outgoings so can either live more luxuriously or work less.

A billion sounds stressful if you win and disappointing if you don't!

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 30/04/2022 11:15

Yup. Guaranteed million, that’s plenty for me.

SilverCatStripes · 30/04/2022 11:15

Definitely take the million- it would allow us to pay mortgage off, sort house, do a few big holidays and me and DH would have the luxury of being able to work part time - life would be absolutely perfect!

x2boys · 30/04/2022 12:43

Yes the million,I could have a really nice life with a million ,a billion would be mind blowing, plus if you lost imagine the crushing disappointment.

WhiteFire · 30/04/2022 12:49

Yeah the million, for the sole reason I never win anything.

maryandtrees · 30/04/2022 13:42

Guaranteed million. Definitely.

ImplementingTheDennisSystem · 30/04/2022 14:08

The guaranteed million please - 100%.
I'd keep our ordinary house because I love it and the location it's in, but I'd get absolutely every job done to it so that it's in mint condition.
I'd then buy 3 or 4 cheap buy to let's for some passive income.
I'd also buy a mint condition motor home for touring around the UK and Europe and pay for storage so that it didn't have to sit on our driveway.
I'd keep my job because i like working, but drop down to 3/4 days a week because of the passive income I'd get from my buy to lets.
Then DH and I would go on regular fantastic 2-week holidays.
I'd treat my parents to whatever they wanted too.

Foodbanksshouldbeobsolete · 30/04/2022 14:09

The guaranteed million.
I'm not a gambler, and I also don't think anyone needs a billion pounds for themselves

tiredanddangerous · 30/04/2022 14:11

Yup the million. No one should have a billion it's just an obscene amount of money.

PaperTyger · 30/04/2022 14:21

Definitely million

PupInAPram · 30/04/2022 14:23

Crikey, the million. Once I've got that, I'm set for life.

GlumyGloomer · 30/04/2022 14:23

A million in the hand is worth a billion in the bush 😆

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 30/04/2022 14:25

I don't believe anyone should be a billionaire.

I would take the million and skip happily away.

Westair · 30/04/2022 14:27

Am I think only one who thinks I’d go 50/50?!

I’m shocked!

redskyatnight · 30/04/2022 14:30

Wonder what the answers would be if it were a guaranteed £1000 or a 50/50 for a million? I suspect more people would gamble as £1000 is less life changing.
