I'm just enjoying my first cuppa, listening to the birds & watching them flit about through my kitchen window.

The washer's on & there are a few pots to do but other than that, the house is mainly clean and tidy. The downstairs floors could do with mopping but that's a job for tomorrow.

We're off into town I think - I was going to nip in on my own, just to find a top to wear to The Killers next month, but dd1 jumped on the suggestion so looks like I have company 🙄🤣 I expect we'll end up with some sort of exotic fruit, from the market.

When we get back, I'd like an hour or so sorting my Rainbows and Guides planning; the space it's kept in is a little messy, there are some activities I'd like to file and keep, and some resources I'd like to create for this week coming.

Later on I'll do a little more of my crochet life cycle & then start on my new book, with a glass of wine.

I have no idea what's for tea yet 🤷‍♀️

What about all of you? And, what's for tea? 🙂

Morning @lucysmam and all!

I was up early this morning, 2 loads of washing on the line. House is pretty tidy for a change as I tidied it yesterday.

We've all just pottered this morning, food shopping came so I got all that away.

Just had brunch and about to head to the in-laws for the afternoon. Eldest is at their Saturday job but they will meet us at the in-laws later. DH and FIL can watch the football together and MIL, myself and the children are heading to the charity shop for a mooch followed by the playarea and possibly Costa. I get on so well with the in-laws it's lovely. We are having dinner there too I think MIL has made a lasagne. We will also bath little ones there and hope they fall asleep in way home so we can just transfer them into bed.

Then the usual Saturday night date night with DH once little ones are settled, wine and TV.

Well, we're back from town. Unsuccessful for me apart from a small cross body bag 🙄 both girls got a new top though & dd1 some make-up 🤷‍♀️

We found a tiny Asian supermarket in town & have bought some goodies from there - the girls want to try diy mochi, sushi, and bubble tea, and dd1 picked up some thread noodles, and a noodle pot too. We'll be busy I suppose 🤣

I'm going to sit down and catch up with the thread now, hopefully in peace & quiet ☕️

We've had a busy day at home today off to IKEA tonight and I want to pop into meadowhall to forever new as I've seen something for my baby shower.

I absolutely love these threads - so interesting to see what other people are doing.

To finish up the day and in praise of older children. My DH is away this weekend (needs to do stuff with/for elderly parents) so DD and I decided to go out for cocktails and dinner at a local restaurant. She is 18 and in U6th and getting deep into A level fretting. I promised her a cocktail at this place when she turned 18 but we never got round to it/lockdowns happening. It’s always been a nice promise on the horizon.

We had great cocktails and a good meal. We had a really nice chat about things to do after A levels/life ahead. I paid the bill quickly then was looking at it while DD was in the loo and noticed that they had comp’ed us the cocktails (it said on the receipt - “on the house - £0.00”) but they had also left off a bottle of wine. I told the waiter and he said, no problem - it’s on us.😊

A lovely evening. Hang on in there, parents of toddler!

I went into town today - a cuppa and a look round the shops. It does me good every now and again. Later on I am going to try a face pack and look ten years younger Grin

Buns not bins 🙄

AlisonDonut · 01/05/2022 13:50

Today we've had coffe and toast, watered the garden, and I'm in the polytunnel planting out the rest of the tomatoes, chillis and peppers. We were going to go to a Vide Grenier but it looked too much like a boot fair so we stayed home. Going to roast the fuck out of some veggies for dinner later.

mackthepony · 01/05/2022 13:55

Washing's on, I'm having coffee, DH was dithering but has finally left to go shopping.

Kids are at the Uncle's, due back mid afternoon.

Will do some gardening in a bit and go biking.

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 01/05/2022 13:57

Had a lovely bacon sandwich made by DH although I have discovered that warburtons thins were not made for bacon sandwiches. Be warned people.

Reading my true crime magazine while DD(13) watches a film. DH is working again and DD(17) had a massive aggressive tantrum yesterday after being asked to do some chores (she's dropped out of college and refuses to get a job) so stormed of to her GFs house until god knows when.

Me and DD will be prepping a chicken casserole in a bit so it's ready for when DH gets home.

Joyfulflowers · 01/05/2022 16:32

I love these threads-a little slice of normal life mostly

Today we've been to the supermarket, walked the dog, hoovered downstairs, cleaned the cloakroom.

Also made a pavlova, prepped other food items, showered, styled hair, applied make up and made a cosmopolitan-just waiting for our guests to arrive for late lunch/early supper.

Tomorrow will be a very lazy day!

RishiRich · 01/05/2022 16:45

Today I've 'been' to church over Zoom, done some washing, cleaned out the fish tank and done some cleaning. DH ran a 10k race this morning, did some DIY and is now on the sofa watching Karate Kid while I MN. The DC are spending the day with their dad so we're catching up on odd jobs.

mamaduckbone · 01/05/2022 16:57

I love these threads - missed this one until now.
Yesterday I did food shopping and a mega clean in the morning - we've been decorating so the rest of the house has been neglected. Ds2 and I spent a lovely couple of hours with my mum in the garden in the afternoon then to friends' (parents of one of ds2's friends so he came too) for drinks in the evening. Ds1 was revising then went to meet his new maybe-girlfriend.
Today I've been at a rugby tournament with ds2. Home now drinking tea with the fire lit watching This is Us, which I've just discovered. Dh is cooking a roast, ds1 is in a vegetative state in his room, ds2 has just come down in his dressing gown so we might put a film on in a minute.

A late night into early hours this morning after unexpectedly having to drive for a good few hours.

Dish washer on.

Car boot sale first thing.

Met up with family for late morning coffee in town.

Went out again this afternoon to get logs for the fire and nice nibbles.

Lazy afternoon in front of the fire with nibbles and a movie

Out with friends tonight and the children are making their own tea (hotdogs).

Busy but enjoyable day.

Crunchymum · 01/05/2022 18:16

Lovingly made a packed lunch (not my posh packed lunch but definitely put the effort in) headed out for a canal walk and to find a nice spot to eat. It began to rain the moment we set off.

Not one of my 3 weather apps said rain today. We persevered, hoping it was just a shower. It rained the whole time we were out (obviously we were sans umbrella or jackets or rain cover). We found cover to eat, we did a soggy lap around the nature reserve and then we came home!!! Got the playdoh out and let the kids make jam tarts to keep them off the devices.

Just finished our Spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. Going to hit my box series when kids finish their film and go to bed (on series 5 of Bosch) and I will never plan anything outdoors on a bank holiday again Grin

Camomila · 01/05/2022 18:44

Went to church this morning, usually just one of us goes with DS1 but today we all went and took toddler DS2 as well. He sat really nicely for the story and did some colouring in - DS1 would have never managed it at the same age. Then went to coffee after, and home for bangers and mash.

Lots of cleaning this afternoon as we've got a guest tomorrow, OK day in all...slightly spoiled by DS1s half hour long tantrum when I took the laptop off him for being rude. He redeemed himself by nicely playing duplo for ages after.
