Early morning flight, what do you have for breakfast?

Do you just overpay at the airport as your on holiday or do something else?

Prices seem ridiculous at the airport for something mediocre!

What time do you need to leave home / arrive at the airport? Flight time?

pusspuss9 · 29/04/2022 08:02

will you get something to eat on the flight?

Ferntastical · 29/04/2022 08:05

If I arrived in time I'd get something small at the airport. Otherwise, I'd just wait and eat later in the day at my destination.

saltnvinegarlover · 29/04/2022 08:05

We are leaving early and planning on just a McDonald's breakfast

Zazdar · 29/04/2022 08:05

It depends. I eat in an airport lounge, eat on the plane, or take something with me.

StageRage · 29/04/2022 08:07

Sometimes we have a quick pice of toast before we leave, or have a pack of brioche rolls ir cereal bars in my bag. Or go to Pret A Manger at the airport for a sandwich.

NightmareSlashDelightful · 29/04/2022 08:09

Depends which airport I’m flying from tbh. They vary a lot

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 29/04/2022 08:10

Recently we left just after 5am to get to the airport. I packed cereal in the children's bags for them to pick on as they chose but had ordered breakfast on the plane (which generally helps the flight be a bit more interesting to them!).

Thepowerofthelook · 29/04/2022 08:12

We had an early morning flight recently (we also have some with a restricted diet so have to be prepared). The kids had a glass of milk before we left (about 330am). Then we took individually wrapped pan au chocolate, breakfast bars and fruit for the airport and bought some drinks. Many people seemed to be doing similar.

HandbagsnGladrags · 29/04/2022 08:13

Book airport lounge, bacon butty and G&T. Breakfast of champions.

JurasicPerks · 29/04/2022 08:16

Depends on the time. If it would be a am or later start, I'd have breakfast at home. If it was earlier than that, usually something at the airport.
I used to get a 2am flight rom the middle east quite frequently, and we'd hit Macdonalds in the transit airport around 6am for as much sausage and bacon as we could get our hands on!

IwaswhoIam · 29/04/2022 08:16

I always get something at the airport . Usually a breakfast sandwich and a coffee at Pret . It depends on how early you mean but if it’s a 7am flight and we are waking up at 3:30am/4am then it’s definitely breakfast at the airport .

JurasicPerks · 29/04/2022 08:17

Opps, 5am or later, breakfast at home.

Watermelon44 · 29/04/2022 08:18

I had a croissant and coffee at the airport

MagicMatilda · 29/04/2022 08:18

Always get breakfast at the airport!

namechangeanonymous · 29/04/2022 08:21

Breakfast at the airport!

Are the likes of pret / Starbucks etc even that much more expensive? Or we do the lounge.

burnoutbabe · 29/04/2022 08:22

Usually I have a yoghurt or something similar before we leave. This settles my stomach so I can eat something more normal st airport (though NOT a full fry up and beer at 6am!!)

BarbaraofSeville · 29/04/2022 08:27

Sometimes a WH Smith or Boots meal deal to eat on the plane, cost £4/5 so not too bad and there are sometimes some quite nice options available.

Last time we went on holiday, we had breakfast in Giraffe which, while it was quite expensive for what it was (about £35-40 a breakfast burrito and a coffee each and an extra side or two) it wasn't that much more expensive than a nice cafe breakfast out anywhere and it was actually really nice.

I avoid the 'airport pubs' because the food is usually rubbish and takes ages and they're often packed and loud. <weeps at the memory of the £70 we spent on two mediocre chicken burger type meals (which was my third choice btw as they didn't have the first two things I chose) and a couple of pints each at Manchester Airport some time just before COVID>.

jaundicedoutlook · 29/04/2022 08:33

If flying BA then use the lounge - literally the only good thing about flying BA. If flying with anyone outside the alliance that gives you access then go to Pret for a croissant. Also depends on whether it's a long flight with food or a short flight where you have to get ripped off on the aeroplane.

Avoid the Weatherspoons lager breakfast that an insane number of people seemed to be having at 7am when we went to Spain over Easter...!

Wotagain · 29/04/2022 08:38

Damn your eyes OP, I’m now craving my favourite airport breakfast 😋

I usually take a bagel with me and buy a coffee at the airport. Pastries don't fill me up although I sometimes used to get a porridge from EAT as they did a dairy free one. I used to fly every week for work so had as little time as possible at the airport and definitely didn't want a 'spoons cooked breakfast - i had enough of those in hotels the rest of the week!

AmbushedByCake1 · 29/04/2022 08:39

We go to Pret which is also good for nice bits of food to take on the plane

notimagain · 29/04/2022 08:45

If flying BA then use the lounge - literally the only good thing about flying BA

With the caveat that having a BA ticket doesn't automatically mean you get lounge access.

hellcatspanglelalala · 29/04/2022 08:51

Overnight oats before I leave the house, then maybe a piece of toast at the airport to tide me over!

violetbunny · 29/04/2022 08:51

I often take something with me. A piece of fruit, a small pot of yoghurt and some dry cereal in a plastic container (e.g. muesli). Tip yoghurt into cereal when I am about to eat it.
