Early morning flight, what do you have for breakfast?

Do you just overpay at the airport as your on holiday or do something else?

Prices seem ridiculous at the airport for something mediocre!

Usually book the lounge, graze the buffet breakfast and have a couple of pints of “holiday juice”.

SmugOldBag · 29/04/2022 12:05

As a BA Gold I'd usually go straight to the lounge and have several large G&Ts. And a breakfast cocktail.

SmugOldBag · 29/04/2022 12:06

The breakfast cocktail is for vitamins and energy obviously.

maddiemookins16mum · 29/04/2022 12:54

We always go and have a cooked breakfast, part of the holiday.

Weepingwillows12 · 29/04/2022 12:57

At Heathrow on an early flight I get a pain au raisin from Pret. It's the only time I eat them so feels like a treat. Sometimes I also then have full English on the plane if flying business. Haven't been for so long I don't know what's being offered onboard these days....

DialsMavis · 29/04/2022 13:09

Spoons breakfast with a pint, had this at 5.30am at Heathrow Terminal 5 a few weeks ago 😳
Not usually a Weatherspoons customer or a morning or pint drinker, but it has become tradition. DS tells me it is A LOT more expensive than usual spoons prices.

HalloHello · 29/04/2022 13:19

Birmingham airport has an all bar one, I always like their food! Also a Greggs, a bacon roll, yum yum and coffee from Greggs is decent!

HalloHello · 29/04/2022 13:20

Also yes to alcohol at the airport if it's for a holiday. It's the law! The last 2 times I've flown I've been pregnant and very gutted to miss out on my pre flight Prosecco!

Geranium1984 · 29/04/2022 13:23

Pret at the airport x

dudsville · 29/04/2022 13:24

Two options as far as I'm concerned. 1) this moment is exactly why McDonald's egg and cheese biscuit and coffee was created. 2) give in and have a pret sandwich of any description. It's not necessary to have breakfast food at breakfast!

ReadyToMoveIt · 29/04/2022 13:34

What’s an egg and cheese biscuit?? What delicacy am I missing out on?!

FunnysInLaJardin · 29/04/2022 13:34

I suppose it depends how often you fly. I fly regularly and if its an early flight I will take a cereal bar and water. If I have time I might buy a coffee.

I refuse to pay airport prices for food and drink because I am mean!

Also cannot imagine anything worse that alcohol first thing - and I love wine! Being on a plane half cut is my idea of hell

ruthypfdraper · 29/04/2022 13:35

Greggs in the airport 😁

Always get breakfast at the airport!

Me too, always!

Holiday starts with a full English for us.

Daenerys77 · 29/04/2022 13:43

Something overpriced and carbohydrate-heavy. It's part of the ritual isn't it?

ReadyToMoveIt · 29/04/2022 13:56

I’d be ‘breakfasty’ with my alcohol consumption at that time… Bucks Fizz or a Bloody Mary or something.

ivykaty44 · 29/04/2022 13:58

I have soaked oats with yogurt and berries - put in a glass jam jar that can be left behind once finished with, add a banana and you have a substantial breakfast

Substantial but not much fun.

UniBallEye · 29/04/2022 14:13

I just can't imagine getting up early enough for a 5am flight and before leaving the house making some of these breakfasts - yoghurt or ham sandwiches getting warm and horrible in the bottom of my bag - no thanks EnvyEnvy

If its early morning we get a coffee and pastry etc at the airport. Its part of the tradition of going away! We have also had cooked breakfasts but it really depends on where we're heading and how long our flight is.

Belkell · 29/04/2022 14:20

A bag of sausage rolls

Natsku · 29/04/2022 14:22

Usually I make sandwiches before I leave, with frozen bread so it stays cool as the bread defrosts. Got coeliac disease so can't be sure what options there will be for me at the airport so best not to leave it to chance. And I take snacks to eat on the plane - biscuits, crisps, cereal bars, that kind of thing.

This time we're staying at the airport hotel the night before though so going to have hotel breakfast and hoping I get a chance to sneakily put some bread rolls and biscuits in my bag (as the GF ones are usually individually wrapped) for on the plane.

clairemaddox · 29/04/2022 14:26

I'd do pancakes day before and leave in the fridge to go in the microwave. Sliced banana and cream would go well. I use cashew cream so it's very filling. Pancakes are oats, banana, and milk so also filling. That would do us and wouldn't take any time at all to serve up in the morning.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 29/04/2022 14:55

Airport Bloody Mary's are the best.

The BA lounge has surprising good porridge and I think porridge and fizz is an ideal start to any trip!!

rookiemere · 29/04/2022 15:37

@clairemaddox what's your cut off point though?

If I have to leave the house before 7 I can't even imagine wanting to eat pancakes at that point. I could see maybe bringing them with me but eating super early and something treaty wouldn't work for me.

Pint of lager with obligatory Facebook photo, I thought that was the law now?

You are my kind of person.

Beer, sausage sarnie and a gloating Facebook post to start the holiday off just right
