New employee is a fake, where to go from here?

It's a large organisation and I just had to send off her paperwork, passport, things like that

She was given the job after her second interview last week.

However, she has emailed me these documents (fine), and her birth certificate says born in September 2002?

That makes her 19?

This is a problem because, for example, her CV says she was an Executive Assistant to a Director in 2018? When she would've been in school?!

I've asked HR, who haven't replied properly, I've asked them to call. But someone replied to my email of concern with 'so you don't want this new me ever of staff? Why not?'

What can actually be done about this?

Update -

So she's emailed in just before afternoon saying she would like to withdraw her application and acceptance of the role due to unforeseen circumstances

Very interesting

Thanks again for all your comments, now I must get back to work!

Problem solved 😂👍🏻

RantyAunty · 28/04/2022 12:31

Problem solved then.

She likely got a better job offer.

PenelopeLively · 28/04/2022 12:31

So @DogInATent the question is about her having no references, saying she worked at a large company as a PA at 13 not at her dads hone study. You come across very defensive. These are all fair questions. I had to provide evidence of all of this to work.

IncompleteSenten · 28/04/2022 12:31

That's good. Problem solved.

It's important to learn from this and look at how you can change your checks in future.

LookItsMeAgain · 28/04/2022 12:32

ChickinMarango · 28/04/2022 11:08

No linked in profile sounds very dodgey to me.

Have you checked out the references on linked in? To see if the names match the companies? Any other way of contacting them other than the email addresses she has provided?

I don't have a proper, fully documented LinkedIn profile. I'm currently employed. Does that make me dodgy?

BlimBosh · 28/04/2022 12:33

People who are saying she should be given the role are crazy. She's potentially a lier!

She’s definitely seen this thread!

Do you remember a class mate who was taking business calls and booking flights whilst in GCSE History class? 😂

Was Mr Brown the teacher ok with this? Can imagine it was a bit distracting to have the hold music to Delta Airlines going whilst discussing pre Nazi Germany and the rise of Hitler.

👆 😂😂😂
Love this

PenelopeLively · 28/04/2022 12:36

it is crazy and if you do this with one candidate then why not the rest and then why not bother to even check at all?

🙄

Unocard · 28/04/2022 12:37

Out of interest, did she ‘work’ at Woolworths OP? There’s often things going around about putting Woolworths on your CV to get into a job.

TheHatinaCat · 28/04/2022 12:37

Problem solved then.

Next time you interview, consider using competency based questions.

www.prospects.ac.uk/careers-advice/interview-tips/competency-based-interviews

It's much harder to blag if you have to provide specific examples.

PenelopeLively · 28/04/2022 12:37

She probably hasn’t see the thread, it’s because she’s porkie pied.

Potentially HR gave her a heads-up? If not then your thread just helped a fraudster.

HR / you should still report to Action Fraud, because the same person will be off doing this elsewhere

MajorCarolDanvers · 28/04/2022 12:41

That's a relief.

Wonder if she is on here

She could have been working part-time from quite a young age, for family or family friend?

DC is currently regularly tutoring KS2 cusp children (GCSEs not yet taken), on a weekly (after school) basis. Would that be regarded with suspicion on a near future CV?

Clearly it depends on what he puts on his CV, tutor for KS2 children, fine, head of department at large secondary school not so much.

Not the same thing at all

According to her age she's have been about 6 years old when Woolworths closed!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 28/04/2022 12:47

She's definitely seen this thread - although when I was 19 this site would have been the last place I'd go online! there were no websites at all when I was 19

Phew!! Major ballache averted. I doubt she's seen this, probably it's just that she's being asked too many questions for comfort.

Pick & Mix Quality Control Manager.

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 28/04/2022 12:50

I doubt she’s seen it - but I’d imagine there were a few “mumsnet spreadsheet” types have spent all morning on Instagram. 🙄

DogInATent · 28/04/2022 12:51

@PenelopeLively - the issue is that the OP should not be the one doing the asking. That's been made clear by myself and several other posters.

Crazylazydayz · 28/04/2022 12:52

I imagine the Senior HR person contacted her and after one or two questions she realised the game was up.

It is not age discrimination to verify a CV. It is not age discrimination to withdraw an offer of employment based on an exaggerated CV.

Unocard · 28/04/2022 12:37

She would have been about 7 when Woolworths folded!

dottypencilcase · 28/04/2022 12:54

The thing is this, the first job she ever had was with a company, a very large one that people know, that went under

So you have no way of knowing if she actually worked there or has just put it on to make herself look better. Oldest trick in the book.
