When I was little, we called it “The whizzer” I think because you could fast-forward (aka whizz) through videos.

It's now the TV remote, as we (DH ) seem to have accumulated several remotes for different devices.

Growing up, it was the zapper but DH laughed at me so it’s a plain old remote now 😞.

Or the ‘merote’, which was one of DD’s many spoonerisms when she was little. We all still say mazagine too 🤗

We have 3 different buttons, and one is always missing.

I once sellotaped all 3 together to create "The Megatron" but it didn't last, and one set of buttons is missing again.
