Movie scenes that make you cringe (not embarrassing cringe, sick cringe)

Currently watching frozen (the one where the three skiers are stuck on the chair lift).

the scene where Dan jumps down and both legs break and the bone is poking through the skin. My god. I felt both sick to the stomach and a massive cringe.

This is the scene if anyone feels brave enough

Also, hostel, I think it was, where one of the characters had his Achilles heels cut. That scream

The scene in Saw where the woman gets thrown into the empty pool filled with syringes 😣
Cast Away when he cuts his foot on the rock.

Irreversible- not the Monica Lewinsky scene in the underground- the scene where the boyfriend repeatedly smashes the bad guy in the face with a fire extinguisher. I swear that happened for real as he flesh splatters away bit by bit down to his skull 💀

American History X kerb biting scene

Absolutely irreversible! First thing I thought of! Harrowing film

Although it's Monica Bellucci not Lewinsky (if she hadn't been treated so awfully both on and off screen the thought of it being Monica L would've made me chuckle)

GrouchyKiwi · 27/04/2022 21:31

Another one for the kerb scene in American History X. So awful.

Criss-cross lasers in Resident Evil (that was the point where I walked out of the film).

Bleurgh the needle scene is absolutely vile. Makes me wanna vomit

Dairyqueenie · 27/04/2022 21:39

Spooks: where the poor lady spy gets first her hand and then her head plunged into a deep fat fryer … omg you don’t see much but it’s the worst thing ever!

AngelinaFibres · 27/04/2022 21:48

Batman, when the Joker grabs one of the people round the table and smashes his head onto the table top so the upright pencil, Joker has stood up, goes through his eyeball and into his brain.

Clawdy · 27/04/2022 22:10

Pan's Labyrinth - the scene where a bottle is smashed into a man's face. Will never watch that film again.

LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana · 27/04/2022 22:24

The bit in "Nightmare on Elm street- dream warriors" when Freddy uses the tendons of a patient and turns him into a puppet 🤢😱

MsIreneWinters · 27/04/2022 22:35

A music video rather than a film, but I found The Wave by Miike Snow is quite harrowing and creepy. I saw it years ago and still think about it now.

Oh God this 🤮

Hugasauras · 27/04/2022 22:39

Ooh the bit with the feet in Misery.

Oh yes. That was awful.

The film is incredible, IMO, just beautifully shot and dreamlike, but then these bits of horror smash in. And the monster with the hands.

SunflowerSmith · 27/04/2022 22:45

I've never seen the kerb biting scene and kind of want to Google it because so many have mentioned it.

My most cringe scene is the head on a stick one in Wolf Creek

Soubriquet · 28/04/2022 06:55

Some of those mentioned I’ve seen. Some I haven’t.

All sound gruesome

Eww yes😱

RhubarbFairy · 28/04/2022 16:27

Definitely the kerb scene in American History X. I thought the film was magnificent but that scene was horrific and I've got a strong stomach. I doubt I'll ever watch it again.

I'd forgotten about the needle scene in Saw. That made me feel sick too.

There's a scene at the start of Arachnophobia where a casket gets opened after transit and all the moisture has been sucked out of the body. I saw it when I was about 10, walked out of the room and 30 years on have seen no more of the film. That was enough for me.

RhubarbFairy · 28/04/2022 16:29

LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana · 28/04/2022 16:13

Eww yes😱

The fascinating thing about that scene is that it's less brutal than the book.

In the book, she chops his feet off. The filmmakers were concerned that this would make audiences less sympathetic towards her, so they downgraded it to her 'just breaking his ankles'.

FIL and I had a mutual love of Stephen King and he had a fascinating 'The Movies of Stephen King' book.

Xtraincome · 28/04/2022 20:22

Oh my god @lkjhgfd what a stupid random mistake. I know it's Belluci as well- what a prat! Why ML was in my head I have no clue!

PandemelonFelon · 28/04/2022 20:33

Teeth biting Kerb (because I've done that)
Cane fields killing - the chilling first prison visit
Body in the wood shredder in Fargo
One wear an attacked jumps through the kitchen window of a family home

Femalewoman · 28/04/2022 20:37

The kerb scene is disgustingly violent.

Femalewoman · 28/04/2022 20:39

To the poster who said they have done the kerb biting scene, seriously you would be dead or in prison depending on whether the person doing or having the neck broken that way.

Somatronic · 28/04/2022 20:46

A few films that have made me faint...
When she tries to commit suicide by biting her own tongue in Million Dollar Baby.
One of the Hannibal films where a fellow is hacking away at his own face with a razor.

I couldn't watch Black Swan once the skin picking started. It made me too uncomfortable

TheVanguardSix · 28/04/2022 20:52

The whole Bring Out The Gimp scene in Pulp Fiction.
It's just so damn uncomfortable, to say the least.

MintyGreenDream · 28/04/2022 20:58

The scene in a film called Tusk.Which you can't unsee.
A man gets kidnapped and turned into a makeshift walrus out of other people's skin.
