What job would you never do, even if you were paid a million pounds a year and had all the training in the world

For me, it's a commercial pilot. I just would never trust myself to make the right decision in a situation of distress. I'm in awe of pilots

Army as well.

I'd hate the drills, shared accommodation, legally not being allowed to quit whenever I would want, and being told what to do in spite of moral belief.

And that's on top of scenes of war and life and death situations I would find traumatising.

People that serve our country have my upmost respect. I'm glad people are more capable than I!

Pillowaddict · 27/04/2022 00:34

Couldn't be a taxi or bus driver or anything involving driving - have a license but massive anxiety doing it!
Also would struggle with abattoir duties or animal testing, but think I'd be good at pathology or mortician work.

I'd really like to work in MH nursing in locked wards, or prisons (have volunteered in past), but would love to be clever enough to be a forensic psychologist or behaviour analyst.

I would be terrible at a job requiring physical ability e.g firefighter, and anything involving maths, but could do it if paid enough and there wasn't an issue with me being crap!

Foodbanksshouldbeobsolete · 27/04/2022 00:38

Pest Control

MidnightMeltdown · 27/04/2022 01:28

Any kind of job which involves having to clean up after a messy death (i.e. the scene of a murder, suicide, or an undiscovered corpse)

Also couldn't work in an abattoir

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 27/04/2022 01:37

Anything that involves working with children, any sort of carer role, and any job that involves working in a soulless office with morons I'm supposed to consider an equal part of a non-existent 'team'.

phizog · 27/04/2022 01:40

Killer whale trainer. It looks terrifying and just wrong. Actually looking after any dangerous mammal.

Undercover police with organised crime or terrorist groups.

The risk of mutulation in both scenarios isn't worth the million.

phizog · 27/04/2022 01:42

Animal! Doh

kikisparks · 27/04/2022 03:21

Work in an abbatoir.

kikisparks · 27/04/2022 03:26

And as PP asked, I’m vegan. Couldn’t be a fisherman (fisherwoman?) either or work in animal testing.

SonicWomb · 27/04/2022 06:36

Oooo good question. Agree with many above esp anything to do with sewage / sewers, refuse , chiropody and abbatoirs. I’d add:

Sex worker
Pest controller
Or something unbelievably dull like data entry / call centre work if I had to do it for a long time

ElenaSt · 27/04/2022 06:57

Most have already been mentioned -
Slaughtering animals.
Prostitute.
Cleaner.
Medical profession.
Working with children.
Diver.
Lifeguard.
Beautician - specifically waxing and anal
Bleaching.
Masseuse
Vet
Any kind of servant job such as being employed to carry Jennifer Looez's coat.
Working for the council.

FiddleMyFig · 27/04/2022 07:07

@Pearbear
I could never work with reptiles either. I am absolutely terrified of them. They just seem so untrustworthy.

Barkingmadhouse · 27/04/2022 07:42

Anything even remotely medical

Notdoingthis · 27/04/2022 07:47

Vet
Dealing with sick animals, not for me.

TheWayoftheLeaf · 27/04/2022 07:48

Surgery. Blood makes me pass out.

drinkingwineoutofamug · 27/04/2022 09:47

AfterSchoolWorry · 26/04/2022 23:10

Work with dementia patients. I don't have what it takes.

That's what I do and I love it .

@QuebecBagnet that made me laugh!

drinkingwineoutofamug · 27/04/2022 09:51

Thelnebriati · 27/04/2022 00:24

So many that have already been listed, but one of mine would be working in a chip shop. I don't know how people stand it, I'd get heat stroke.

Christ I think all my previous occupations are on here 😂
I ran a chippy for 9 years

Also been a care assistant in a care home
Apprentice hair dresser
Bar staff
Waitress
Work gutting fish in a fruit & veg shop
Making the tin foil trays for your takeaways.

Oblomov22 · 27/04/2022 09:53

I can't think of anything I couldn't do. I could do all of the above, at a push.

MarshaBradyo · 27/04/2022 09:55

top one I couldn’t do is submarine worker as claustrophobia would kick in big time

I’d struggle with abattoir

mjf981 · 27/04/2022 09:56

Outbound call centre work. Soul destroying.

Any form of sales job that involves convincing people to buy something off you (which mostly is crap they don't need).

ClumpingBambooIsALie · 27/04/2022 09:56

Cheese taster. A human body cannot sustain the amount of vomiting I'd be doing.

I'm not allergic, I just hate it.

SmugOldBag · 27/04/2022 09:59

A security guard.
It's Standing/sitting about at ungodly hours doing nothing for 99.9% of the time with the risk that you might be rugby tackling potentially violent miscreants at any moment

CharSiu · 27/04/2022 10:01

Estate agent
Solicitor

Pourmeanotherwine · 27/04/2022 10:01

All the training in the world won't cancel out my natural ( lack of) ability in sport and music, so i think i can rule out professional footballer and rockstar.
Also my lack of co- ordination rules out anything that involves driving or flying.
Secondary school teacher is another one. I admire those who can do it well, but for me the thought of standing up in front of 30 disinterested teenagers and trying to get theit attention is petrifying.

WhereIsMyBrain · 27/04/2022 10:04

Hit man. Prostitute.

Other than that I'd do pretty much anything. Breaking up fatburgs or wiping arses for a million pounds a year- bring it on!
