What job would you never do, even if you were paid a million pounds a year and had all the training in the world

For me, it's a commercial pilot. I just would never trust myself to make the right decision in a situation of distress. I'm in awe of pilots

Brain surgeon. That must be fucking terrifying.

MayorDusty · 26/04/2022 22:37

Doorstep loan collector.
I don't know if it stems from my childhood but I think they are some of the most amoral people.
Trading off having things in common with clients and having that rapport just to get their target and cut while holding their customer under water to keep them drowning.
That and TV licence enforcement goon.

magnified · 26/04/2022 22:37

Butcher or a farmer

MakkaPakkas · 26/04/2022 22:37

Anything that didn't have decent holidays - no point in having the million pounds if you can't spend it on holiday.
Anything where my mistake could kill someone
Anything in the fossil fuel industry
Anything in an abbatoir

PerrinAybara · 26/04/2022 22:37

Optician/optometrist - I just can't deal with anything to do with eyes.

GreenClock · 26/04/2022 22:38

Stand up comedian.

sweetkitty · 26/04/2022 22:39

I was thinking abbatoir too
anything that involved hurting animals
bit squeamish about heights
dont like driving that much so that rules out a lot of jobs

in my own job today I was bitten twice and got poo on me though

LookdeepintotheParka · 26/04/2022 22:39

Social Work - my DH works in this field and there's no way I could cope with the pressure and responsibility of it every day. I have a stressful job but no comparison with what they deal with.

Unlike a PP I'd absolutely love to work in Lush!!

FrecklesMalone · 26/04/2022 22:42

Military-Killing people.
Urinal cleaner - been there it was vile.
Police-Surrounded by too many misogynistic, racist bastards.
Tory Mp- I am not a bigoted, self serving, bastard.
Bus driver - dull and yet dangerous
Administrator-I am shocking at admin and its so dull
A sales rep - soul destroying
Anything that involves night shifts

roses2 · 26/04/2022 22:42

Front line army

TheSillyMastiff · 26/04/2022 22:43

Police Officer.

I mean I work with the police daily, and I get on well with them, but I just couldn't be dealing with the shifts, the constant camera phones in my face, people being dicks, the abuse, the general public.

I wouldn't do it for a million pound an hour.

catinboots123 · 26/04/2022 22:45

Cleaning the bogs at Glastonbury.

Emptying the dog shit bins over the park.

stimpyyouidiot · 26/04/2022 22:45

Anything to do with feet
Couldn't kill animals
Anything to do with poo
Probably anything medical tbh
Anything with either heights or teeny tiny spaces

doggiescats · 26/04/2022 22:46

You seriously couldn’t be an administrator for £1 million?! I bloody could - boredom or no boredom. For that amount of money I’d make it my own for three years, invest and retire.

Honestly, some people have no imagination!

RosesAndHellebores · 26/04/2022 22:51

Nun.

QuebecBagnet · 26/04/2022 22:51

drinkingwineoutofamug · 26/04/2022 22:35

@QuebecBagnet you should have your own thread just about working clearing fat balls.

I'm an nurse and I take my hat off to you! Not saying that being a nurse is any better.

I moved from fatbergs to midwifery, swapped one form of blocked pipes for another. 😆

comfortablyfrumpy · 26/04/2022 22:51

Submariner.
Anything requiring going through underground tunnels/pipes
Fishmonger

StorminNorma · 26/04/2022 22:54

Copper
Letting agent
Debt collector

Xpologog · 26/04/2022 22:58

Anything to do with killing animals.
Midwife. No way could I deal with all the screaming and the gore.

MsTSwift · 26/04/2022 22:59

Anything in the sex industry - just no ewww

Anything that involves touching other people - medical /hair dressing / dentist

Anything on boats - I get terribly sea sick and have to lie down

Anything that harms others

outside those categories bring it on!

cherry978 · 26/04/2022 23:00

XenoBitch · 26/04/2022 22:21

Slaughter house type roles. Just no.

This. Not even for a £billion just to do it once. I could never!

Staggersaurus · 26/04/2022 23:05

Potholer - even just the idea of going underground in such a confined space makes me breathless.

Tory MP or Tory local councillor. No amount of money would make that palatable. I’d prefer to go potholing.
