Where is good to eat in York?

Going to York soon, staying a bit further out from the centre but walking distance- does anyone have any suggestions for nice, not too expensive places to eat?

Ooh just thought of a couple of others… Skosh and the Rattle Owl. Both on Micklegate. Both very different but both absolutely delicious.

I second a vote for Pig and Pastry. Worth a visit to Bishy Rd.
Please avoid Khao San Road (check Tripadvisor out) it’s changed recently and is now super expensive Thai tapas. It looks great but is a complete rip off! Check out the spring rolls I ordered from there, they were £9! (to give you an idea of how bad it is!)

Il Paradiso el Cibo does amazing food. Don't let the small / rustic setting put you off! Also yes yes to Brew & Brownie (if you can get a table, tends to be busy). If you want a proper treat, Skosh is a winner.
