Look what my hen laid this morning. She must be waddling a bit poor girl but what an incredible effort!

That's a great egg for a 5yr old hen!
Why do we slaughter hens at 72 weeks? They can obviously still lay perfectly good eggs.

My mum used to always keen a couple of bantams with her hens and as I was the littlest I got the little eggs. I loved them.

My eyes are watering for the poor dear....

One of my hens is 10 and has laid two eggs this year. We keep thinking every egg is her very last but she likes to keep us on our toes and pop one out every year and gets all flighty like a pullet for a couple of weeks
