Are you thinking about cancelling Netflix?

I know loads of people are, I am too. I'm just wondering what the kids watch on it and wondering if we can get friends somewhere else.

None of us really watch TV at all, we have a cursory scroll through about once a week and then put on friends.

Undecided. I don't watch it much but it's only £5 a month as a promo with my Sky subscription so I don't really miss it.

It’s also not clear how this household management would work? If I’m at home and my husband is in a hotel can we both still watch Netflix? How would it work in a family where one member lives somewhere else for the week for work and comes home for the weekend, and how can Netflix tell the difference between that and someone giving their parents their password

i imagine Netflix know users IP addresses so can identify multiple use of passwords that way.

In both of the examples I gave from the top of my head the user at home would have a different IP address to the user away from the home. Still the same household and not breaking the terms of service. But hard to tell apart with a blunt tool.

No, I’m more likely to cancel Amazon Prime because everything I want to watch on there seems to need paying for and I’m finding alternative sources for physical things I buy online.

Joystir59 · 24/04/2022 11:37

I'm keeping it as I need access to Bridgerton series one. It's all Simon and Daphne's fault. Well, Simon's tbh. Rege-Jean Page has a lot to answer for.

They can change their terms of service whenever they want of course and are already monitoring IP addresses in some countries:

What they're probably going to do is limit one account to one IP address or implement a two-factor verification.

Blocking households from sharing accounts will do them no favours commercially.

SillySallySassySausage · 24/04/2022 15:45

Keeping Netflix, have cancelled Amazon and NowTv.
I also have Disney+ but have that on an annual bill. I have cancelled the auto renew though cos not all that bothered about the level of content.

It won’t matter, they’ll get loads of revenue from ads.

GrouchyKiwi · 24/04/2022 16:00

DH and I don't watch that much on it these days, but there's loads of educational stuff I use for the children. Plus some of their favourite programmes.

dipdye · 24/04/2022 16:05

Britbox is very twee so OK once in a while.

Some good films on Netflix but I do find the documentaries have the same format to them.

dipdye · 24/04/2022 16:07

I cancelled mine after the Cuties debacle.

^

This I can understand! Absolutely terrible PR for them

If ads come in (and not as a cheaper tier, but pushing up the prices of ad-free subscriptions) then I suspect there will be a significant number of subscription cancellations. With all the talk of cracking down on sharing accounts (which Netflix originally promoted!), increasing prices and adverts it’s almost like Netflix want people to cancel.

Southeastdweller · 24/04/2022 19:36

Rather selfishly, I'm posting again to remind myself to watch the second half of Ozark season 4 when it drops next Friday, before my membership ends a week later. It's very good.

UserError012345 · 24/04/2022 19:38

No I am keeping it. Out of all the subscription TV, I will always keep Netflix.

We also have Disney, NOW Entertainment and Brit Box.

MojoJojo71 · 24/04/2022 19:39

No way, the final season of Better call Saul just started, I’ve been waiting for years for this!

Gensola · 24/04/2022 19:40

Just cancelled it, as it happens! We weren’t watching it enough to make it worth it. The UK offering is quite crap.

glamourousindierockandroll · 24/04/2022 19:41

I'm keeping it. I'd be ok getting rid of prime but I do like the delivery and This Is Us. Also enjoyed Nine Perfect Strangers. The kids like Disney.

I could manage fine with with Netflix and iplayer tbh.

savedbyanalien · 24/04/2022 19:43

No, I love Netflix! Especially their recent push for more foreign language films.

We also have Apple TV, Prime, and Disney+

We like finding quirky show or meaty documentaries to sink our teeth in to.

Plus, we need shows to keep pre-school DC occupied from time to time.

NippyWoowoo · 24/04/2022 19:44

Cheesechips · 23/04/2022 08:28

No. I don't go out much and watch lots of tv. Streaming services are worth it for me.

You sound like me 😂 I work a lot, sometimes 7 days a week, so all down time is spent watching TV.

I have Netflix, Prime (more for delivery, I don't watch much on there) and Hayu for the trash amazing American reality shows. I also have a friend's login for Disney+, and am only just starting to explore that more.

I had AppleTV and NowTV at various points as add-ons to various contracts, but found that I didn't use them very much.

I watch Netflix by far the most

Tiredmummy123456 · 24/04/2022 20:01

No, we are taking our ariel down though and are no longer paying a TV license when our current licence expires. We'll review this in octobercwhen the utility bills go up again.

orangeisthenewpuce · 24/04/2022 20:07

No. We watch quite a I bit of stuff on it.

ClaireEclair · 24/04/2022 20:10

No. Stranger Things 4 is out soon.

MarvelMrs · 24/04/2022 20:19

Netflix is already cancelled because we didn’t watch much and don’t think much of the film selection.
Re. Friends could you not buy the box set? Amazon currently has used full 10 series box sets for £8.70. I almost always buy used from Amazon suppliers and I have never had any issues with quality. Great bargains to be had.

reluctantbrit · 24/04/2022 20:23

No, we don't watch a lot but I found that Prime doesn't offer a lot and while we have Disney+, that will go soon.

With normal TV mostly crap I watch at least something nice and don't have the ads all the time.
