Are you thinking about cancelling Netflix?

I know loads of people are, I am too. I'm just wondering what the kids watch on it and wondering if we can get friends somewhere else.

None of us really watch TV at all, we have a cursory scroll through about once a week and then put on friends.

Thinking of cancelling and getting it back for flagship shows like The Crown and Bridgerton. Like PP kept it for a Mad Men for a long but that's on Prime which I wouldn't be without and DD mainly watches D+ which I split with DSis and BiL.

We use it a fair bit, but if they start blocking login sharing I will cancel it - there are 4 people in my family but 3 are students living elsewhere most of the time. They're still part of my family and if Netflix stops me from sharing with them, I'm gone.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 23/04/2022 10:34

hmm, my family watch it, in their respective households,
i do have another family members disney+ which i enjoy

I've just gone to cancel Britbox - I kept it on to watch the latest Agatha Christie adaptation - and it offered me a reduced price of £3 for the next three months instead. Might be worth going to cancel Britbox to see if you are offered the same.

I will be cancelling Disney plus once we have watched the Moon Knight series.

Dvds from charity shops are a lot cheaper in the long run

I don't think that's true. Dvds here are between 50p - £1 so you wouldn't get much to watch for the price you pay compared to a month of Netflix.

We are keeping it. The value for money is in my opinion much better than the TV licence or other services.

lickenchugget · 23/04/2022 14:54

I am stuck with it as part of Sky package, but would be cancelling if I could. It’s gone downhill in the last 12 months. I would keep Amazon and Disney Plus

Nidan2Sandan · 23/04/2022 14:55

We have Now TV, Disney, Prime and Netflix and I certainly dont have plans currently to cancel any of them.

We watch a fair amount of tv and have favourite shows across all the services so hard to choose just one subscription.

You should just be able to give 31 days notice to cancel, I did then then immediately got another offer to re-sign up again!

Ilikewinter

Thank you, I’ll try this!

devildeepbluesea · 23/04/2022 15:01

Cancelled a month ago, there’s nothing on there I want to watch that I can’t get elsewhere. Still have BritBox and Disney+ which we use loads.

SunsetGun · 23/04/2022 15:01

I cancelled a few weeks ago. We were hardly using it anymore.

Sillystripytail · 23/04/2022 15:02

We have sky, Netflix, prime and Disney plus. We watch a lot of tv so won't be cancelling any of it any time soon. I've got a backlog of stuff to watch on Netflix mostly!

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 23/04/2022 15:09

Was thinking of getting it, but have now decided not to.
Have Amazon only - mainly for free delivery and photo storage, the tv/films are a bonus.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 23/04/2022 15:23

What I want to do is get rid of bloody sky. Tied in for another year!

EmpressSuiko · 23/04/2022 15:26

Definitely not, it’s Ll we watch.
We are getting rid of our tv package in August when the contract is up and only having broadband.

TheFlis12345 · 23/04/2022 15:29

we will be keeping it as we use it a lot, but we only have the most basic package.

demotedreally · 24/04/2022 08:30

Well annoyingly, after I had got DH buy in to cancel my kids are desperate to keep it because the only thing they ever currently watch is on it. Hopefully they will get bored of the thing soon. I don't know what it is but they find it hilarious and I love hearing them in hysterical laughter

I've already cancelled ours - nobody had been watching it for months and I was the only one who really watched it anyway. When they put the prices up it was the final push I needed to cancel. I do miss some of the foreign dramas but I think I had binge watched most things worth watching and lots of the Netflix productions seemed very formulaic.

Kezzie200 · 24/04/2022 08:41

If they add adverts, yes. Otherwise, maybe as we don't watch a lot now we have Disney plus and Prime too, Netflix will be the first to go.

NightmareSlashDelightful · 24/04/2022 08:43

I’d get rid of Disney before I lose Netflix but I like lots of foreign/subtitled dramas and Netflix is really good for those.

Bichette · 24/04/2022 08:44

No, we will be keeping it. We have the most expensive service and share with our adult DC and MIL. It's the only subscription service we have - no Sky, no Disney, no Prime.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 24/04/2022 08:50

We rotate our paid-for TV between Netflix/Prime/NowTV/Disney+. I find if we have subscription for more than a couple of months we run out of stuff we want to watch quicker than they're adding things we're interested in.

An advantage of this is (Netflix aside) if you unsubscribe for a few months you get often get discounts for rejoining. We're currently on Disney+, which was bought with Clubcard points at three months for the price of one, and I can't remember the last time I paid full price for Prime or NowTV.

ferneytorro · 24/04/2022 08:52

Yes, just cancelled this morning. We (as I imagine many others did) signed up in lockdown. I don't think we watch it that much, personally i get more use out of the iPlayer. Asked my daughter if she watched it - said she did but if we cancelled could we replace with another streaming service so probably will get Disney +, that's still a couple of quid less than Netflix. We don't have sky, do have Amazon and prime but we keep thinking do we watch it - probably not but i use the music streaming service and prime delivery.

splishsplashsploshsplish · 24/04/2022 08:55

We cancelled ours a couple of years ago and it was liberating! I found that we were mindlessly scrolling, searching for things to watch. None of us miss it.

Recently we stayed with a friend who had Netflix, and none of us knew what to watch, so we put on... friends Wink
