Do you like courgettes?

That's the Q really.

I don't think I'm adult enough to like them 🤣 I've just made curry for tea and I ate all my courgette first so that I could enjoy the rest of the meal without them! My children showed me right up by eating theirs without fuss.

Am I missing something? Those who like them, how do you cook them?

Love them in everything, pasta, curries, fried with Parmesan. Going to try courgette parmigiana though thanks to pp.

I eat the baby ones raw straight from the garden.

Indian here. The ONLY way to have courgettes is IN curry- delicious. Those saying they'd turn to mush- so what? Those mentioning them as being too watery- you cook the water off. Like a pp above, I grate mine into my curry masala. Mmmm!

Have always loved them. I put them in curry all the time, I fry them first with the other vegetables. They go in most of our meals that involve a sauce (chilli, bolognese, curry etc) and sometimes I just boil them for a few minutes and have them as a side dish. Also good if you slice them thinly and heat them in with a tin of chopped tomatoes and some onion as a quick meal on toast, a side, or a super-quick sauce.

As part of a mixed roasted veg it is beautiful 👌🏼
peppers, onions, butternut squash, cherry tomatoes, mini potatoes with courgette, tossed in olive oil and herbs and garlic cloves. Whack in the oven 🤤

I just prefer the Mediterranean ways of cooking them. Ratatouille aside.

I used to think they were revolting and ratatouille is still my worst nightmare dish to have to eat out of politeness. However I've found I quite like them in ribbons fried with olive oil and garlic.

When you GYO, you end up with loads and loads.

And you find a way to cook them.

When i have too many, i slice finely and salt them for a few hours, then heat up some vinegar and spices, drain the liquid off the courgette that the salt has extracted and pour vinegar over the courgette (once cooled) and jar it. It lasts years. Then i have courgette all year round. I use these in salads and esp good in a potato salad.

No. If they are fried in butter in thin slices with a lot of garlic then maybe. But otherwise just no. My lovely neighbour who has an extensive vegetable garden always offloads them onto me every year when she has a glut. But really ... what is the point of them?

I don't mind them but I have alarming problems digesting them when they're raw, which has put me right off.

I love zucchini fries at Italian restaurants. And sautéed with garlic for bibimbap. Otherwise I like then and think they add to some curries and pasta dishes but I don't find them thrilling. DH does would you do and eats them all first so he can eat the rest of the meal without.

Fry them with an onion, then mix with smoked mackerel, lemon juice, soy sauce and poppy seeds, and eat with pasta. Quick, easy, cheap and delicious.

I discovered this recipe as a student 30 years ago and still make it regularly.

I use them instead of pasta in lasagne, cut into strips, oven cook & pat dry to get all the moisture out
Then use as lasagne sheets

Courgettes sliced and griddled each side
Salt & pepper
Lay on a plate
Tear a ball of burrata over
Lots of fresh mint
Lemon & olive oil
More salt & pepper

The ONLY way to eat courgettes is to pan fry them in a metric fuck tonne of butter, garlic, salt and pepper. They are delicious this way especially with white fish

I grow them mainly to make chutney with the tomatoes I also grow. This year I'm growing a ball variety which can be stuffed with allsorts.

I love them. I slice them thinly and layer with tomatoes, drizzle with olive oil and salt and black pepper, and bake in the oven.

Cut into thick batons, coat with paprika, garlic, peri peri salt and a little cornflour. Air fry for around 10 minutes until crispy. They are lovely done this way.

Not many meals in our house that don't include courgette! Do think they need an element of frying though.

Kids favourite/my emergency packed lunch for when all the bread has gone manky; make up a pack of instant couscous (flavoured). Fry off a diced courgette and bung that in with a load of feta and some olives and capers. Fantastic!

I have them:
-pan-fried with butter, garlic and thyme, Setved with garlic mayo
-grated into anything the children won’t notice
-in courgette and potato soup.

I make a lovely courgette cake, the recipe was given to me by a neighbour who lived in the States for 30 years.
