ShockShockShock There I was, driving home, minding my own business.... When a fucking gargantuan large spider crawled down the windscreen right in the centre of my view! Then I realised it was on the INSIDE. 😳I had to turn into side road super quick, stick my hazards on, grab a tissue & fling the thing out the window.... Arghhhhhh.

2 hours into a three hour journey on the motorway a bee landed on my knee. Fortunately I was a passenger as I totally freaked out, opened the window fully but the bugger wouldn't leave. I then spent the last hour anxiously scanning the van for an angry bee.

Why didn't they stop at the next junction for you?!

Deathraystare · 22/04/2022 07:16

I wonder what my friend would have done if she saw one when driving. She is the one who once ran out of her house and went up to a stranger (male) and asked him to accompany her back to her house and get rid of the spider!

FoodologistGirl · 22/04/2022 17:48

OMG this happened to me last year. I was driving on a dual carriage way at night. I don’t know how I didn’t crash the car, it felt like ages until I could turn off. I don’t even like money spiders yet there it was hanging down in front of my face. I always check the sun visor now before I set off.🙀🕷

Hertsgirl10 · 22/04/2022 18:05

This happened to me the other day but In passenger seat and it jumped on me, shit myself!! I know I’m gonna die in a spider & car incident 😬

Grrrrdarling · 22/04/2022 18:06

Park the car up & nuke it from space… it is the only way to be sure 😂😂😂
Had the same before & so has my sister. Mine must have got in when I was moving some stuff to the tip for a friend so it had been in the car for atleast 2 weeks. I killed it because it wouldn’t comply & get out of my car so I could drive… 😂😂😂
God knows where my sisters one came from but hers appeared from behind the rear view mirror. Luckily she had my other sister in the passenger seat & between them they managed to get it on a sock & threw it out of the window.

Chilledchablis · 22/04/2022 18:32

Omg this reminds me of an encounter with the biggest wasp-like creature I have ever seen - probably a hornet. I was stopped at traffic lights in city traffic and this monster appeared before my eyes and proceeded to crawl along the dashboard. First instinct was to gtf out but not an option. I swear I stopped breathing as I somehow managed to get across 3 lanes of traffic to the pavement while opening the window. Thankfully, it left quietly but I have been scarred for life as it must have been in the car with me for the entire journey for over an hour. For a self confessed wasp phobic, this was my worst nightmare.

iloveeverykindofcat · 22/04/2022 18:40

Spiders are fine. Spiders are nice. I spent about half an hour transferring a bunch of them outside when I spring cleaned my mum's conservatory last week.

However, if a stick insect touches me I will instantly expire. I don't know why this is.

Tsuni · 22/04/2022 18:48

🙄

MummyMayo1988 · 22/04/2022 19:02

This happened to us.
DH doing 70mph down the motorway and a huge spider scuttled out the vent and just ran towards me across the dashboard. I'm actually quite impressed how calm I stayed, kind of just batted it away with my phone and it ran back down the vent.
DH isn't bothered by spiders generally but even he said some choice words.
When we got to our destination; he blasted the vents but it wouldn't come back out.
6 hours later, back in the car, DH puts vents on to clear windscreen and out it pops again. Thankfully he's able to pull the car over and flick it out the door I had jumped out 🤣

teleskopregel · 22/04/2022 19:12

We had a huntsman spider living in our car for a month. He would stroll across the ceiling, the rear-vision mirror and our laps. Every time he made an appearance, we couldn't pull over fast enough to get him out, and he would disappear. We had finally had enough when he crawled across the windscreen when we were driving down the high-way at 100 kmh. DH and I, both quite arachnophobic when in close proximity, pulled over in the emergency stopping lane and ripped the car apart to get to him. We got the front seats nearly out, the ones in the rear, the carpet and whatever else we could reef up until we located his hidey-hole. I'd like to think we squashed him but I was so traumatised that I forget. At any rate, we never saw him again. The carpet snake curled up in the rear foot-well is another story...

Notaordinarygirl · 22/04/2022 19:15

Are you from Australia? We get that all the time here. We have huge huntsman spiders that love to scare the shit out of you as you are driving along the highway.
They are bigger than your hand

teleskopregel · 22/04/2022 19:20

Yep!! I can do them at a distance, can even take them outside with a cup and paper, but in the car, no way. I was lying in bed once in the dark, felt something crawl across my face, like a beetle or some insect, so I lay still til it left. Turned the light on and there was a massive non- huntsman (maybe a bird spider? Never looked it up) squatting on the pillow.

Lack of poisonous spiders is one of the few reasons I am glad we are living overseas 😬

What a pathetic, boring thread headlined by a FUCK YOU profanity. The level of so much of Mumsnet it must be said and MNHQ do nothing. No need for the vile language at all. So crude and selfish to use this kind of abusive language to strangers.

UhtredsLatestPaganHussy · 22/04/2022 19:27

gimmepeaceandsky · 22/04/2022 19:30

Bugger off.

daddypoursthewine · 22/04/2022 19:47

This happened to me! I used to be a total fanny stupidly afeared of spiders. And I lived in spider house. Natch.
One day I jumped in the car to go to work carrying my jacket over my arm - which I had laid on the side of the bath whilst cleaning my teeth. I was a rep so driving all day, anyway a couple of hours in I saw something moving out the corner of my eye and my highly honed spicy senses knew what that was, when I turned to look I could see a mahoosive black spider 🕷 menacingly advancing towards me.IAND I must have CARRIED IT INTO THE CAR. TOUCHING ME! I dont know how I didn't crash the car. Anyway I veered off the road and jumped out of the car. I then proceeded to ring my then boyfriend and make him leave work😱 and come to swap cars with me!
And he did it. And he still married me.
As I said, total fanny😬
Moral of the story : It touched me and I didn't die. Who knew?

ClemDanFango · 22/04/2022 19:49

DH had a one running up the back of his neck whilst driving. So glad I wasn’t in the car as be swiped off and threw it on the passenger seat.

Sooziewoozie · 22/04/2022 19:50

That happened to me sort of! Years ago……actually a whole lifetime ago when I was only about 17 or 18 I was driving along with my friend when a spider appeared in front of my face, dangling on it’s web! I freaked out, slammed the breaks on and just got out of the car leaving my friend sitting in my car which I’d abandoned in the middle of the road!! 🤣🤣

GuyFawkesDay · 22/04/2022 19:55

I had a big hairy spider ON MY FACE whilst driving, I though it was one of my curls falling onto my forehead but no! Thank God I was in car park when it did that.

I debunked from the car pronto and ran around squealing and flapping it off like the prize wuss that I am.

I am not scared of spiders at all but omg the shock!!

Sprocket1 · 22/04/2022 20:09

Omg I had this once , it was sunny and I went to pull the sun visor down and there was a massive black spider . I quickly shut the visor back up and was terrified it would fall on my lap I drove really fast until I got to my boyfriends house which wasn’t far and I got out as fast as I could and got him to remove it. I hate spiders they completely freak me out

Suzypoo10 · 22/04/2022 20:22

A friend of mine, who had not long passed her driving test, was driving her pride and joy (a Talbot Samba convertible) when she swallowed a bee and ended up writing her car off. Fortunately no serious injuries.

Has anyone been abroad for dental treatment? Where did you go? Was it cheaper? What did you have done and would you recommend it?
