ShockShockShock There I was, driving home, minding my own business.... When a fucking gargantuan large spider crawled down the windscreen right in the centre of my view! Then I realised it was on the INSIDE. 😳I had to turn into side road super quick, stick my hazards on, grab a tissue & fling the thing out the window.... Arghhhhhh.

A friend of mine pulled out of the car park and there was a cat in the back of his car that proceeded to jump on his lap Shock

Must have been there all night and desperate to get out.. he opened the door and let it out but not before he crashed (slowly) into a wall...

HallieParkerJames · 21/04/2022 21:49

Not in a car but once in my uni halls of residence I was brushing my teeth at the sink in my room when a spider randomly crawled up and out of the plughole and started climbing up the sink! I switched both taps on for about ten minutes to make sure he wouldn't come back.

Also I once tried to remove a daddy longlegs from my room using a mug and paper but accidently let it go when trying to open my door and he vanished behind a cupboard or something. I forgot about it until a few days later when I was lying in bed on my phone - the lights were off so it was pitch black except for the light off my phone screen. Out of nowhere, said bastard suddenly flew onto my screen, practically giving me a heart attack. How I didn't throw my phone into the wall I'll never know...

CandyCaneLane0 · 21/04/2022 21:55

This is one of my worst nightmares😭I'd definitely crash if it happened to me, I wouldn't be able to stay calm

Hope it was not a dangerous spider, all the best op

Years ago I happened on an absolutely humongous mukade (Google them, I dare you) with yellow legs on the passenger seat scuttling and making little clicking noises with its legs on the leather of the seat. I had to make an emergency stop, whilst almost having a heart attack, get out of the car, and flick it out using an umbrella from the boot. This must be 15 years ago or more and I still wake up thinking about it sometimes…!

Magnoliayellowbird · 21/04/2022 22:00

You were so brave, I would have caused an accident.

Sarkymarky · 21/04/2022 22:01

Ewwwww just googled. 8” long (shudder).

a spider lowered himself rapidly from the car roof when I was in the passenger seat. I screamed blue murder and tried to climb into the back seat. Not easy on a motorway when you’re 6 months pregnant with twins, but I was genuinely terrified. Possibly not as terrified as DH who was driving…

Driving home the other day there was a woman driving an open top mini in front of me. We were poodling along - just as well ...

In a split second this great big peacock flew out of the hedge and straight into the mini and sort of wrapped itself round the drivers head - wings and arms were flailing about - and then it flew out again the other side! It was all over in about 3 seconds and although she swerved a bit she held the road! I was well impressed 👏👏👏

She must have been wtf !? 😂

Laiste · 21/04/2022 22:25

My best/worst spider story is when i was a teen i was in a pub by a river with my mates. Summer time with webs all over this bloomin' pub because of all the midges and moths ect from off the water.

I was already twitchy - once inside the place we took a table and i was trapped up one end of a bench seat ... and a spider lowered itself down onto me.

I turned the table over to escape! 😫all the drinks went with it. So embarrassed.

TulipsHere · 21/04/2022 22:32

We had similar in Florida ten years ago except it wasn't a spider but a big fuck off cockroach. Dh was driving in flip flops (which we now know isn't the done thing) and I had my feet up on the dashboard (again, not the done thing) when it crawled out of the fan bit of the air con, across the dashboard and disappeared into another vent. We were on the fucking highway to so couldn't stop!

5128gap · 21/04/2022 22:37

I think all you spider chauffeurs are very brave. I once went to pick some 'hair' out of the plug hole without my glasses on....Suffice to say I'm proud that I managed not to saw my own hand off afterwards.

PattyMelt · 21/04/2022 22:57

Uugghh make me shudder, bloody spiders, dropping on you while you drive and dragging their willies over the darker on clothes on the line.
My near miss was a wasp. Open windows, hot day, wearing shorts. it flew in and stung me on my inner thigh!! I screamed the kids were all freaked out.Luckily no traffic around I slammed on the brakes and jumped out. Huge red welt left on my leg.

ArtVandalay · 21/04/2022 23:29

Wouldn’t bother me in the slightest.

Bit I have a friend who has hysterics at the sight of any spider. I’d imagine she’d have careered off the road at best.

I am phobic of peacocks. Could probably cope with most spiders (bar the huntsman and other poisonous pals) but that story will give me nightmares! I'd have crashed for sure. Then had nightmares. Stupid vicious creepy things they are!

See explain to me someone why are people in this country frightened of spiders???
I can understand a fear of snakes, or even wasps/ bees, (although unless you are allergic the stings are not that dreadfull) but spiders? small fragile little beings that make webs that cartch house flies/bluebottles etc, that are far more dangerous because of the germs they carry!

Not fear. Phobia. By definition, totally illogical with no basis in fact and a recognised mental health issue. A damn nuisance that adversely impacts my life sometimes quite significantly and not a damn thing I can do about it.

Mamanyt · 22/04/2022 00:11

Arachnophobe here. You did very well. I might have dived out of the moving car!

Topseyt123 · 22/04/2022 00:13

This is one of my absolute nightmare scenarios. I'm convinced that I would end up in the ditch or worse.

Hollywolly1 · 22/04/2022 03:35

I was driving in town one summers day on a busy street and I had the drivers window open and a BIRD flew in to my car🤣🤣🤣,I felt sick I got such a fright.
I leapt out like the car was on fire and a very nice taxi driver asked if I was OK,I told him what happened and asked him to remove him,he did but I think he was afraid of the bird🤣🤣🤣 I was mortified

mathanxiety · 22/04/2022 05:26

I have a car with a sunroof which I never open for exactly this reason.

TCMolly · 22/04/2022 06:43

A big spider 🕷 dropped on my shoulder when I was just coming off the motorway onto a roundabout. I nearly crashed trying to brush it off.
Then I couldn't find it for ages...

blackteaplease · 22/04/2022 06:51

2 hours into a three hour journey on the motorway a bee landed on my knee. Fortunately I was a passenger as I totally freaked out, opened the window fully but the bugger wouldn't leave. I then spent the last hour anxiously scanning the van for an angry bee.

AugustSeptemberOctober · 22/04/2022 07:11

I had a wasp fly in through my window whilst driving down a dual carriageway once - no idea how I managed to get to the nearest side road without an accident.

One that still makes me laugh though is when my mum was taking her cat to the vets. She was driving along a very busy A-road when the cat jumped onto the dashboard - apparently mum hadn't secured the carrier properly! I wonder what the drivers on the other side of the road thought Shock
