‘Can You Feel’ It by The Jacksons

On my running playlist.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 18/04/2022 05:26

Spirits having flown by the Bee Gees. Released 1979.

The night before that it was Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours in full.

groovergirl · 18/04/2022 05:38

Voulez-Vous by ABBA, as sung by DD 14. She's rehearsing for a school production of Mamma Mia. It seems her entire school is crazy about ABBA -- possibly thanks to Gen X parents like me!

When looking at our local Top 40 recently I saw a few old songs in it, such as Dreams by Fleetwood Mac (1976). DD says Dreams is popular as a TikTok soundtrack, which is why it is back in the chart. It seems downloads and streaming have really changed the definition of current music and the latest hits.

Dixie Chicken by Little Feat.

WildRosie · 18/04/2022 08:18

Sweet Caroline was recorded in 1969 but it might have charted in the UK later.

Hedgehoppers Anoymous was an ex-servicemen group steered by Jonathan King.

Dreams Smile

Fleetwood Mac will always be a happy place for me.

WildRosie · 18/04/2022 09:23

Speaking of Fleetwood Mac, does anyone know the legal mechanisms behind that band ? Mick Fleetwood and John McVie have been the only constant members so I guess they own the FM name and any rights to it. Where would that leave the likes of Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie - full members, shareholders or just salaried performers ?

To Know You is to Love You by Syreeta and Stevie Wonder - brilliant 😍. I found it on a film with Omar Sy in, but can't remember the name of it. Her voice is wonderful.

PermanentTemporary · 18/04/2022 13:34

You're So Vain by Carly Simon. Was on an embarrassing playlist called Sad 70s Songs which I love.

limitedperiodonly · 18/04/2022 13:37

Chance Meeting by Roxy Music in a re-run of Butterflies with Wendy Craig. How '70s-tastic is that?

I like it but I forgot how creepy it was.
