Are we going to be sending Ukranians to Rwanda?

If Rwanda goes ahead, or is it just other nationalities we will be shipping there for processing?

I don't support the Rwanda plans at all but surely this is hugely xenophobic if it's the case?

I have Ukrainian guests staying for the first 6 months.
They are very much hoping to return to Ukraine. ASAP.
Most of the men have stayed behind.
Where as the people coming across the channel
are mostly men and do NOT want to return to their
country of birth.

@Yoohoo778611 that’s a tricky one. Some of our younger relatives in their 20s would stay. Just for the sake of moving forward in life, it’s an age many people start off. The problem is they feel they can’t do anything long term. So they don’t want to build a life here, whilst one there dwindles. If they stay 3 years their job respects and housing in Ukraine will be bad. They can only rent here or stay in rooms squashed in over crowded houses.
One considered teaching to swap to a work visa- but then it’s being tied to the job for 5 years that is scary. What if they get pregnant? Or too ill to work? They lose the right to stay, and they’ve given up the 3 year visa stay too so it’s risky.
I think most would go back, a lot of the reason being finances here aren’t manageable, but others do plan to go back ASAP because of the limited stay aspect. Living in an unstable temporary situation is something any family avoids. Some will go back also as they have been split from male family members, it’s not the pull of Ukraine as such- but the pull of getting the family back together

I have a friends who had a Syrian man live with them through a charity scheme, visa dependent on them living together and a friend from Kosovo who had some similar set up before changing to a student visa. These in people’s houses schemes are very messy, temporary and hard to start a life from each time they happen

In passing I heard 'it's only single men who are deemed economic migrants'

I brought up the actual memorandum and it doesn't say that. I don't know where that's come from.

Has anyone else heard similar?

The memo is very long, I can't be bothered reading it right now but I did glean it doesn't specify who goes to Rwanda.

@IsraelAndRoo
“Syria has had several invasions by foreign countries (via air strikes mainly) over the last few years including Russia (and others). “

Exactly. And 20000 of Syrian refugees have been given permanent homes in the UK via resettlement scheme.

ZERO Ukrainian refugees have been offered the same opportunities by the UK.

Why do you keep saying that Ukrainians are getting better treatment than Syrians did?

Are you suggesting that all the people arriving on the boats should be prevented from entering the UK till they get a sponsor to house them?
And that all of them should be sent back to their countries after three years?

After all, that would mean giving them the same treatment as Ukrainian refugees.
