😀PMQs today

^"Will the Prime Minister support a Lying in Politics bill?" from Liz Saville Roberts

PMQs was funny. Starmer trying to be cutting and forensic yet he seems so very weak, stumbling over words and his voice seems to get squeakier the more he tries to shout.

Wonder what will happen from (underpant selfie man) Chris Bryant's committee thing. How on earth is he head of a standards Committee?!

The Met are taking their time over their fpn issuing aren't they.

Notonthestairs · 20/04/2022 14:59

Standards Committee has a Tory majority.

So the Tory party henchmen must be worried that a Tory MP will see the photographic evidence of partygate and vote against Johnson.

Things are that bad!

We obviously watched different PMQ's i thought this was one of KS better performances.
KS also didn't resort to name calling or lying.

Many MPs at the 1922 meeting said BJ did have a go at the BBC and Welby, exactly as Starmer called it.

Alexandra2001 · 20/04/2022 15:04

waiting until May 6th.

I wonder why though? you'd think it'd be better to get them all out in one fell swoop.

They can't still be investigating surely.

what an odd sense of humour? I didn’t find it hilarious watching Boris bluster his way to the edge of a cardiac event.

Surely they won't want to be too obvious- 7th May?!
Notonthestairs · 20/04/2022 15:27

Sorry "quote post" not working v well. I think they'll hang on to the FPNs for a couple of extra days after the local elections - otherwise all a bit obvious!

Notonthestairs · 20/04/2022 15:34

Chris Bryant has recused himself from the Standards committee if the motion passes. No reason to vote against it now is there?

itsgettingweird · 20/04/2022 15:35

I missed PMQs - had a lovely lunch out with a very good friend though Smile

Also WTF is up with the app?

Roussette · 20/04/2022 15:44

Have you tried adjusting your telly, because there really isn't any 'squeaking'.

What was funny about PMQs was the desperation of BJ and his endless repetition of 'getting on with the job'. That mantra is getting very boring now... every Tory on any breakfast news show says it endlessly, BJ says it endlessly, pretty pathetic

Blossomtoes · 20/04/2022 15:47

Makes a change from Get Brexit Done @Roussette. Or Don’t kill your Granny.

ClaudineClare · 20/04/2022 16:02

This is from yesterday. Johnson's mask really and truly slips once again, he hates being held to account by a woman.

Blossom
Yes.... or 'oven ready deal' which made me want to throw something!

Claudine yes indeed. He hates it. I bet he's got a temper and has to really rein it in sometimes

Peregrina · 20/04/2022 16:59

So the best he can claim is the fastest vaccine roll out in Europe, which is debatable, and standing up to Putin, which he could have done 8 years ago, but was a bit too fond of the money from Putin's cronies.

You see I thought that the endlessly repeated line was "getting on with the booze". Do I need to adjust my TV also?

His notion that he was leading the world in standing up to Putin is really quite pitiful. Every world leader regards him as, at best, a total lightweight.

littledrummergirl · 20/04/2022 19:14

Surely his claim to be leading the world in standing up to Putin is misleading parliament.
In my opinion the person leading in this is President Zalenski.

Notonthestairs · 20/04/2022 19:59

"MPs have been told there will definitely be an amendment to the Labour motion tomorrow - which may allow a privileges inquiry to take place but with significant conditions attached. Details are expected tonight. It comes after MPs warned whips they would abstain."

twitter.com/jessicaelgot/status/1516841918927446016?s=21&t=F1aWyI3jE4Oi8pYwgDeVZQ

Chris Bryant recused himself and investigation won't begin til after police have finished their enquiries.

Interesting that Con MPs had clearly not indicated that they were firmly behind the PM.

Notonthestairs · 20/04/2022 20:15

As if by magic the Cons move to neutralise the motion first.

Still indicates they knew they couldn't rely on their own support.

I'm going to stand up for Bojo on this, of course he and the Tories did more to enable Putin then pretty much any other World leader... londongrad, weak on Salisbury and took their money.

Or have have mis read his claim?

DuncinToffee · 20/04/2022 20:20

Loks like Keir Starmer rattled the Tories in PMQs

Today, during #PMQs, Starmer challenged the PM over a quote, shared by the PM’s approved source, and printed in the PM’s former newspaper.

The Tories now demand that Starmer should “apologise for misleading Parliament”.

You almost have to admire the chutzpah. Almost. ~AA

twitter.com/BestForBritain/status/1516840614364647424?t=YS8gpoeVbwIoITdIbigINA&s=19

Just read that last paragraph

HarrietPierce · 20/04/2022 20:29

JaniieJones · You are sounding ridiculous now. Starmer didn't try to be cutting and forensic He was cutting and forensic- unlike the blustering, lying ,buffoon you so admire. Any so called squeaking is just in your head.

Notonthestairs · 20/04/2022 20:32

Desperate measures from Dowden.

Notonthestairs · 20/04/2022 20:32

Desperate measures from Dowden.

The simple solution would be for Dowden to issue a transcript of what was said and then we would all be able to see (as confirmed by a Tory MP on the radio at lunchtime) that Boris was slagging off the ArchBish and BBC.
