A video of him showing his DSis our house. Pretty unremarkable usually but last Nov DH had a stroke and lost his voice and in February he died. I never thought I would hear his voice again and now I can hear it whenever I want.

Useless tech question, how do I copy it? I have WhatsApp'd it from his phone to mine, is it as simple as saving it to the cloud somewhere?

That is lovely to have. Make a copy of it.

So sorry for your loss xxx

How lovely.

I think if you have an apple phone you may be able to click the button that has a box and arrow in it and save it that way too

katmarie · 13/04/2022 09:24

You can log into whatsapp from your computer and download the video and save it. To do it, go to whatsapp.com from your computer, and click on whatsapp web. It will walk you through logging in, you will need your phone to do so, and then you should see the computer open up the whatsapp chat box.

In there, find the video in your chat, and in the top right of the image of it, you should see a little arrow. Click on that and it will give you the option to download. You can also download pictures this way.

I hope this is helpful, and I'm so sorry for your loss.

That's lovely OP. I also have some little video clips of my DDad who passed away in 2020. Just saying "Dad things" like "You need to purne them apple trees" and "Gosh great gravy you made". Lovely to hear his voice again.

That's so lovely. I have a video of myself and my late DDad chatting shit on a pub seat next to the road when the blade of a wind turbine went past on a truck. It's the only voice recording I have and I treasure it even though it's so silly Thanks so sorry for your loss.

My biggest regret is not keeping my late Nan's answerphone messages, I'd do anything to hear her voice again. So sorry for your loss OP, hope you can find a way to copy the recording Flowers

itsgettingweird · 13/04/2022 09:50

Oh my word that just made me burst into tears.

How lovely. I bet he's also glad you can hear his voice again.

Also I'm useless at tech so no idea how you copy it but I know you can copy iPhone files onto a computer and then onto a stick from the photos app.
