Do you forget your own age?

For the past couple of years I've been 42 or 43. I spent a year believing I was 43 when I was only 42. I've just done a literal google on what age I am and have found I'm still only 42 with a few months to go until 43. But it's been like two years!

Just me who forgets?

Yes, and I’ve started thinking about my age reading your thread and then realised that I’ve got it wrong last few months - I’m actually a year younger. Great news!

Bbub · 11/04/2022 23:45

Yes I do too, only momentarily usually, but for a second I really do think I'm a different age, then spent a further moment not knowing for sure, then settle on what I know is true... It's really disconcerting! Also forget how old DS is and don't ask me his DOB 🙈

LizzieSiddal · 11/04/2022 23:47

Gosh yes, I’ve been doing it since I was late 30s, I always think I’m older than I am so it’s quite nice when I realise I’m younger.

rainydogday · 11/04/2022 23:47

Yes! Same as you too! I blame covid, children and work 😉

RagzRebooted · 11/04/2022 23:51

@WelshyMaud

I did this last week for the first time. I genuinely couldn't remember if I was 35 or 36...no idea at all, not even a leaning toward one. I had to count from my birth year 😂
I've been 35 or 36 for a few years, never entirely sure without having to work it out. When I was 35 I kept adding a year then realising and taking it off. Now I'm 36 but I got in the habit of having to take a year off that so keep thinking I'm 35. I'm hoping 37 will stick, as I'm yet to think I'm 37 so maybe the novelty will help.
oobedobe · 11/04/2022 23:52

yes I did the same last week googled to double check my age.

since I turned 40+ it all blurs into one, keep thinking I'm 45 but really turning 47 later this year

blueshoes · 11/04/2022 23:52

I am in my early to mid-50s but I could not tell you without calculating mentally.

Seasidemumma77 · 12/04/2022 00:01

I'm a December baby, spent 2yrs thinking I was a year older than I was. Think I did the simple arithmetic of birth year minus current year, and forgot to factor in the month I was born!!

AbleCable · 12/04/2022 00:10

I have had to put my DOB into an online age calculator to double check my age on a visa application Blush

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 12/04/2022 00:12

Yes. I pay no notice to birthdays, so I have to stop and actively think when someone asks my age. Two years ago my birthday came and went and it was two weeks before my partner said 'hold on a minute...'. I hadn't even realised myself.

Thizizit · 12/04/2022 00:12

I have been 34 for the last 10 years.

ChocAuVin · 12/04/2022 00:14

So so so glad it’s not just me!

Nearly a decade ago but I spent nearly two years blithely thinking I was 34. Discovered just before my birthday I was about to turn 36, not 35 as I had expected. That was gutting! I’ve been more careful since Grin

Hailingfrequenciesopen · 12/04/2022 00:16

I had an argument with my mother one day that I was turning 39 and she was adamant it was 40. I was like mum you were there when I was born?

My aunty convinced her in the end. Not me Grin

WhereHasSpringSprungTo · 12/04/2022 00:49

Yes i minused a year to a paramedic the other day. I felt like a right fool.

Caminante · 12/04/2022 01:18

Yes sort of...I know that I'm 55 but sometimes I forget that I'm in my 50s at all and have to mentally scan the decades to place my self again.

Germolenequeen · 12/04/2022 01:36

Yes I have for the last few years - am turning the big 60 this year though so it's seared into my brain atm 😬

LunaLights · 12/04/2022 01:39

I genuinely don’t remember my age at all. Have to work it out each time. I “lost” quite a few years whilst having lots of surgery, and just can’t keep my actual age in my head.

RampantIvy · 12/04/2022 06:28

I'm staggered and find it worrying that so many posters struggle to remember something as simple as their own age.

Haggisfish3 · 12/04/2022 06:29

Yes and am also the same age ish.

Oblomov22 · 12/04/2022 06:29

Always. Have to seriously think when someone asks me, particularly bad when I couldn't remember if I was 47 or 48.

lemmein · 12/04/2022 06:33

All the time - I had to mentally work it out reading your thread 🤦🏻‍♀️

I blame the pandemic too - my brain still thinks it's 2020!

Timide · 12/04/2022 06:50

I have no clue every time I'm askedGrin and I'm just after 30
It doesn't matter after allWink

BertieBotts · 12/04/2022 06:57

I haven't been able to remember since I was 30

GeneLovesJezebel · 12/04/2022 06:58

Yea, I have to work it out.
I’ve absolutely no idea how long I’ve been married either.

RampantIvy · 12/04/2022 06:58

How do people manage to forget?
I won't see 60 again BTW.
