That feeling when you're drifting off for a daytime nap...

Nothing beats it, right?

I do normally feel a bit crappy when I wake up, but it's worth it Grin

I adore day time naps. There's just nothing better than being under the blanket on the sofa drifting off.

I'm really lucky that I work in the evenings and am at Uni so I have some much appreciated time in the days to study/clean/nap before work!!

CrowAndABut · 10/04/2022 22:38

I have MS, I'm tired all the time. I love the feeling of drifting off for a day time nap... it feels different to going to sleep at night.

imjustanerd · 10/04/2022 22:57

Nothing makes me happier than having an afternoon nap. I grew up in a house of nappers so always thought it was totally normal.
My other half thinks it's hilarious there's no way he could nap in the day he'd feel terrible afterwards.
I love it in the summer when I can open my windows, draw my curtains and have a little nap, bliss.

Germolenequeen · 10/04/2022 23:15

I'm a napper too - had actully just drifted off into a lovely one this afternoon when (after just half an hour) my son came in to tell me that there was rubbish all over the garden.

Turned out that both bins had blown over and recycling & rubbish was blowing around the lawn and into our very prickly hedge.

Had to back into it with eyes closed to retrieve what had been ripped from bags and yes I really did come out looking like I'd been pulled through a hedge backwards 😬

justjuggling · 11/04/2022 00:07

I think day time naps are the ultimate luxury. Particularly great on a cold wintery afternoon under a blanket on the sofa in front of a roaring fire. Bliss!

XenoBitch · 11/04/2022 00:09

I have the most barmy dreams during a nap. I also love it when you have TV/radio on as background, and you can still hear it but be in some wacky dream world at the same time.

Siestas seem to be the way forward......

The pinnacle of my napping life was when I had a baby and toddler and managed to get them both napping in the afternoon at the same time. Get the toddler to sleep in his room then grab the baby, breastfeed him lying down in my bed and we'd fall asleep together all cozy and warm and snuggled up. Both of them would sleep for a good two or three hours then baby would slowly come round and coo at me to wake me up while the toddler was also slowly waking up and quietly talking away to himself in his room, which I could see him doing on the video monitor. Then we'd go and get the toddler and all bundle in my bed and watch a bit of CBeebies together to properly wake up before venturing downstairs. God it was bliss.
I still have champion naps now but those ones were definitely the best ones!

I fell asleep sitting on a picnic chair on the beach this afternoon. We’d been for a late Sunday lunch and dh and dds went for a cold dip whilst I nodded off in the sun. Hence, why I’m awake now.

My husband and I own our own businesses and are home-based.
We will work from 10am to 1pm then we have lunch at 1:30pm and by 3pm, we put on an episode of "Midsomer Murders" for noise and have a nap until 5pm.
We have a quick dinner and then connect with our clients/ customers from 6pm to 9pm on weekdays and work until 10pm on administrative tasks.

I can't hear the theme to "Midsomer Murders" without getting drowsy.

Naps are the best!

I love a nap in the afternoon but I always feel like shit when I wake up.

GreyCarpet · 11/04/2022 05:42

I have also discovered that, whilst there is nothing quite like the feeling of realising you've had a 3 hour nap, it does leave you feeling like shit.

However, a 40 minute nap is brilliant! Like a whole night's sleep and I wake up refreshed and able to have a productive evening. So now I set my alarm.

monicagellerbing · 11/04/2022 06:20

I love a nap I have one most days apart from when I'm working (two days a week) I love it, it's refreshes me for the afternoon slog and if the kids are home a well needed 30-60 min break from them!

RedScarfJamjar · 11/04/2022 07:04

This thread is so damned cosy and I love it.

I have been up since the crack of arse for no discernable reason and am now browsing all your 'napspiration' in order to best prepare myself for a treat nap this afternoon. I have a stove, I have blankets, am considering an absurdly large lunch. Considering putting a nice thunderstorm on the speakers.

MintyMoocow · 11/04/2022 07:06

One of the best things about working from home. The sneaky 20 minute cat nap!

mnnewbie111 · 11/04/2022 07:28

I'm guessing you're all retired/SAHP I cannot wait for this. When I'm on holiday afternoon naps are the best! I do sometimes manage to fit one in if I'm up at 5 with the kids then have a 7-8 nap before the day starts. Ah i guess if WFH you could squeeze one in at lunch time. I need to rethink my life 😂

SheSaysShush · 11/04/2022 07:31

Going for a sleep in the afternoon was what went on in my house as a child. The whole family would sleep after the Sunday roast.

Nothing has changed as an adult.

I'm a full time teacher with one teenage child at home.

I get home from work around 5.30pm and the first thing I do is are a cup of tea and have a half hour nap.

I used to nap when the children were small too.

I couldn't cope with the evening otherwise - I'd just be too tired.

Ecosralayce · 11/04/2022 08:37

the absolute best though is a nap in the hammock in the garden on a mild spring or summer afternoon. Bonus points if it is spring and you've pulled the hammock under the big cherry tree and can hear all the bees happily buzzing in the blossom up above. while the brids sing softly in the background....and off you dirft to the land of dreams. Best.thing.ever!

nope. I worl full time out of the house Mon- Friday (NHS) but still occasionally manage to fit in a weekend nap!
BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 11/04/2022 08:43

My napping peak was when dc1 was at afternoon Preschool and dc2 was 4-7 months old. Into the buggy fir the walk to drop dc1 off, guaranteed asleep by the time we walked home. I'd wheel the buggy into the living room with sleeping dc and sleep on the sofa. Usually for the duration of the Preschool session. Sometimes I'd plan ahead and put a hot water bottle on the sofa under a blanket ready.

Thorilicious · 11/04/2022 12:40

I work too, nap times are for late afternoon or the weekends.

FlippyFloppyFlappy · 11/04/2022 12:42

I also work (main reason I need my naps) 😂

magicstar1 · 11/04/2022 12:45

I'm still working from home and finish at 4. At 4 I set the timer on my phone for half an hour and snuggle down under a blanket on the couch for a snooze....it's great.
I used to fall asleep on the bus home from work but this is soooo much better.

SophieSoSo · 11/04/2022 19:31

I also work full time and share custody with my ex, so my nap times are for every other weekend!
