Cupcake business name needed!

Flopsy145 · 06/04/2022 13:03

So my friend and I are setting up a baking side hustle and have drawn a blank on the name so looking for ideas and inspo!

A summary of our business model is cupcakes for parties/weddings, hopefully supplier to cafes, a collection of child friendly ones with hidden veg and lower sugar and then standard ones that are a bit different (think earl grey and black currant, rum and ginger beer, lemon and courgette) etc.

What's your market and what do they like?

Are your cakes very glamorous and urban or more sweet and feminine? Or both?

Flopsy145 · 06/04/2022 13:26

We love in an upmarket area (market town in Oxfordshire) so would be catering to more upmarket clients and with options for gluten free and vegan. I'd say more feminine and sweet, a different take on classic combinations

How about - Not another cupcake buisness. 😄

Only joking. Although it does seem to be an oversaturated market where I live, perhaps your area doesn't have the same problem.

I think you need to go simple and to the point, so I agree with @OutingHobby that your names are probably the best option.

I think you're far more likely to get new customers by having your area in your name. Sounds boring, but when people see it they'll know who you are and what you do. Eg The Oxfordshire Cake Company. Using "The" subliminally implies you're the best/only one.

I think company names that include location are best for marketing, so I would go for something like Cakes of Bicester. Boring perhaps, but effective for internet marketing.

I’d go with the “the blah blah cake company” or “town name cupcakes” - I used to run a cake business many moons ago, the pun names and things like that make me cringe, I much prefer and would be more likely to use, a company with a “sensible” name and think that would also appeal to a more upmarket client!

OutingHobby · 06/04/2022 14:24

I think if you're starting small then be really careful not to use a name similar to an existing business
