So insomnia set me off pondering random things in the small hours . So as above , how many ?
I've got to late 30s and have lived in 8 , all in UK. Weirdly all most were xyz Avenue , one a Road , and this one xyz Lane.

In house number 8 and I'm 38 years old

dramalamma · 05/04/2022 14:24

23 (not including boarding school houses or university houses - if included that it would be 26)I moved around a lot! 😁 Planning on staying here now so hopefully won't add to that!

Horcruxe · 05/04/2022 14:25

At least 10

ShadowPuppets · 05/04/2022 14:27

If you do it a lot it isn’t necessarily stressful, especially when you’re young and relatively carefree. I can still pack like a pro and run it all like clockwork, although it is much more of an upheaval these days.

Agreed @Nnique! Of the 11 houses I’ve only moved into 2 with an actual moving company - the time I moved with my parents when I was 14 (obviously I wasn’t really involved!) and then our most recent move from our first owned flat to our house. In between those years I was exceptionally proud of being able to fit all my belongings into a single Ford Fiesta, would usually take me about an afternoon if I was methodical about it Grin

Nnique · 05/04/2022 14:30

I was immensely proud when the movers we hired for our last move said they’d never seen such an organised move! Grin

I couldn’t fit it all into a car though. Back in the day everything I owned fit into one suitcase.

ShadowPuppets · 05/04/2022 14:32

@Nnique are you me? Our movers asked me for a list in advance and apparently the one I sent over was so detailed and spot on that their boss wanted to offer me a job Grin

Nnique · 05/04/2022 14:32

(That was a bit extreme though! Not surprising that I turned into a bit of a light hoarder when I finally did settle down...)

Nnique · 05/04/2022 14:33

Ohh that would’ve made my day! Grin

ArtieTheFatCat · 05/04/2022 14:34

Trulyweird1 · 05/04/2022 14:38

I'm 41

bigbluebus · 05/04/2022 14:41

Only 4 and I'm 58!

1st house - born there and moved aged 6 weeks so don't remember it.
2nd house - 24 years. Left because I got married. Parents still owned it until they died. Was sold 29 years after I left home.

3rd house - moved in with DH. Sold due to job move to different area.

4th house - bought with DH 30 years ago and still here. Not planning on moving until we need to downsize.

Xpologog · 05/04/2022 14:44

I’m on house 15 plus a stint in a house overseas and 2 stints in caravans totalling almost 3 years. And thinking about the next move already……

TheDuchessOfMN · 05/04/2022 14:46

7, including where I live now

Grumpyoctopus · 05/04/2022 14:46

12, but the majority of them were while I was at uni.

DidymusAmbrosius · 05/04/2022 14:47

I'm 42 and have lived in 14 different properties:

11 houses and 3 flats
5 counties and 3 countries

I've only owned one of them though - this one Grin

stayathomer · 05/04/2022 14:48

1 until the age of 20, 11 since (am 41). Just bought our first house-the house we live in -2 years ago and am so relieved we'll never get the stupid 'your rent is going up' or 'I'm selling, sorry' phone call again. I wish it were possible for everyone to have a choice to own. Renting can really suck!!!

Natsku · 05/04/2022 14:48
  1. 2 as a child, 2 at Uni in UK, 1 at Uni in Finland, then 6 more in Finland, the last 3 within the same town. Hate moving house, easiest move though was to my 8th home as all I moved with was one suitcase and a travel cot!
A580Hojas · 05/04/2022 14:51

11 houses and 5 flats. Isn't that interesting.

UnreasonabIe · 05/04/2022 14:51

2 within half a mile of each other too

JaninaDuszejko · 05/04/2022 14:54

3 in childhood (although one was just a few months while my parents renovated the farmhouse). 8 as a student (did a PhD and worked abroad so moved about a lot). 5 with DH. So 16. Only 2 in the last 20 years though.

cloudyrain · 05/04/2022 14:58

5
3 as a child/young adult with DP
2 as an adult that I bought with DH
Been very fortunate and have never had to rent and was able to get on the housing ladder when prices were manageable.

Left home at 16, long and varied career. Shortest was 6 months. Longest has been current home. Only owned two.
