Do you still hold hands with your other half?

Just been sat in the car, watching couples coming in and out of school (parents evening) and noticed how few parents hold hands while they're walking together.
I've been with DH over two decades but we still do.
Just a casual observation. I'm not doing a survey or anything Grin

absolutely married 22 years together 26 xxxx

DisforDarkChocolate · 04/04/2022 19:56

Yes, unless his hands are cold and he wants them in his pockets. I have warm hands. Holding hands makes me happy.

Mirrorball2022 · 04/04/2022 19:57

@Monkeybutt1

Yes we do when we can. We also always cuddle up on the sofa on a night. We've been together 15 years
Same, it’s warmer too. Together 11 years. Don’t always hold Hands but often do when walking. Quite tactile generally anyway.
Beamur · 04/04/2022 19:57

I hold DH's if he looks like he's about to run off..

AnotherPoster · 04/04/2022 20:00

We've always been arm linkers, ie dh puts hands in pockets and I link arms with him. We're not often out together, except for walks, but absolutely yes, we naturally do this more times than not. I would be in for holding hands too, just it's not our natural thing. Together over 30 years.

Mirrorball2022 · 04/04/2022 20:03

@Usingit

I never have, it's irritating to other people if you are out and doing this as it takes up a lot of pavement
Well no because we unlink and walk single file if we need to make room for others. It’s not difficult. Plenty of families stretch across the pathway tbh.
LuluBlakey1 · 04/04/2022 20:03

I try not to be associated with him but he holds hands with me.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 04/04/2022 20:03

Yes we do. Been together 20 years

AlwaysLatte · 04/04/2022 20:04

Yes still hold hands. Been married almost 60 years
❤️

AlwaysLatte · 04/04/2022 20:05

Often - been married 17 years. But we didn't on the school run as our boys would have been mortified!

OnTheBenchOfDoom · 04/04/2022 20:11

Yes, even sat on the sofa we will hold hands for a few minutes and yes when we are out walking.

Been together over 25 years. He is the love of my life.

CurlyPurpleHair · 04/04/2022 20:12

We do .... until my 5 year old joins in the middle 😂

Yiayoula · 04/04/2022 20:15

Yes, always have done.
Together 51 years, married for 49.

hellywelly3 · 04/04/2022 20:39

We do sometimes but my husband walks so much faster than me I end up running along side. If we’re looking round shops etc it ok but if we’re walking to get somewhere not so much so

MintyGreenDream · 04/04/2022 20:41

Not when walking but we do in bed when going to sleep

EatsQuorn · 04/04/2022 20:41

@Member278307
Married 60 years - Wow Flowers

RiverRats · 04/04/2022 20:43

We still do

Howareyouflower · 04/04/2022 20:49

Those who do, make the most of it. My husband uses a wheelchair or a walking frame now. We miss holding hands.

badg3r · 04/04/2022 20:51

Haha! Nope. It's annoying to not have use of one hand. Plus I get so much physical contact from the kids that I like my space when I can get it 😂

bloodywhitecat · 04/04/2022 20:53

We did, and I miss it so much now. He was very tactile and would hold hands and cuddle up in bed too, the bed feels so big without him yet stupidly, I still sleep on my side of the bed.

Sausagedognamedmash · 04/04/2022 20:55

Yes often. Married for 10 years. However not on the school run, not for PDA or embarrassing the kids reasons but for the fact that the pathways in and around our school are narrow and holding hands blocks the whole pavement, you have to walk single file or with a small child next to you. Anything more and you are an inconvenience to everyone else using the entrance and exit of the school.

Taswama · 04/04/2022 20:55

Yes, absolutely. Also have a kiss at kissing gates!

CamsPaisleyCuffs · 04/04/2022 21:11

Yes, we're big on handholding and arm linking. DP insists on keeping his dominant hand free though in case he has to joust an imaginary dragon or something. If I accidentally take the wrong hand we end up doing some ridiculous do-si-do move so I get on the "right" side. We're generally hugely tactile and if we're in the proximity of each other we're touching in some way.

Bloodybridget · 04/04/2022 21:24

Very occasionally in the street, but only momentarily. We're a lesbian couple, and I think the cautiousness that was necessary in the 70s and 80s still hangs over us to an extent - for DP more than me, possibly.

Motheranddaughtertotwo · 04/04/2022 21:27

@GuyDiamond

Yes, but not in the school playground for some reason. We rarely do the school run together though tbf
This is me too! I don’t know why but I can’t be affectionate with him at school but we will hold hands most other times.
