Anyone with British Gas nit heard about their price increase yet?

I'm sorry it's another thread about the rise in gas and electricity prices, I'm just wondering if other people on British Gas standard variable tariff have had anything through about how much their payment is increasing to?

We had a letter about a month ago saying they would be in touch soon about it but so far I've not heard anything and my payment amount on the app is still the same.

I know it's only just the start of April and I could try and get in touch but with how busy I reckon they will be at the moment I don't have the heart to try it just yet. My DD manager on the app suggests I change my DD to £190 every month 😱 I submit a reading every month on the same date and received a text prompting me to text with up to date readings on 31st March which I did along with giving a reading via the app.

Has anyone else heard anything or had confirmation of what their payment would be going to?

Good moaning? I'm just asking if anyone has had a letter from them. Are you bored today?

I’m with British Gas but on a prepayment meter, my standing charge has gone up on my gas to 37p per day but electric was meant to be rising to 57p per day and hasn’t actually started, when I go to my tariff on my smart meter is still showing the 29p a day. Definitely not complaining. Anyway my app says my estimated quarterly amount will now be 294 roughly for both so divine this by the amount of weeks I’ll be topping up roughly £15 each per week

Were you just pissing past this tread?
PineappleRingo · 03/04/2022 13:33

If you are standard variable that is the same as the price cap prices so just look them up for your area

dementedpixie · 03/04/2022 13:37

Does your app not give the tariff info with standing charge and kWh amount?

CeeceeBloomingdale · 03/04/2022 13:38

No direct communication from them but the app suggests I DROP my payments by nearly £60 a month which is ludicrous as my fixed term cheap rate ended in February.

dementedpixie · 03/04/2022 13:38

P.s. its not the payment amount you look at but the price per kwh

dementedpixie · 03/04/2022 13:45

One is for gas (around 7p/kwh), the other is for electricity (27-29p/kwh). It should show on your online account/app as well

I've not heard anything either OP , bit disconcerting isn't it

I think this was a 'allo 'allo reference due to the typo in the title
ButtockUp · 03/04/2022 16:25

Haven't heard yet , I expect we'll hear this week.

misty64 · 03/04/2022 16:28

I had an email from them a couple of weeks ago telling me my bill would be about £900 a year more

Tree543 · 03/04/2022 16:58

I haven't heard yet but they are in the process of very slowly transferring my account from Bristol Energy.

Thisismynamenow · 03/04/2022 17:52

I'm with British gas, my smart meter isn't telling me my usage anymore, and my app and website aren't receiving any info from my smart meter'. And my dd manage is saying we're reviewing your bill sorry we can't help. It's been like this since the 16th Feb, whenever I try to speak ro britsh gas about it they say there is nothing they can do and hold on until they've fixed it 🙄

MaddieElla · 03/04/2022 17:55

Same here @Thisismynamenow

Suspicious, you might say. BG Facebook pages and a quick Google told me it's happening to lots of people. It's been far too long now to be a fault with the system like they're saying.

I have no idea what I've used, or what I'm using now.

FitAt50 · 03/04/2022 18:06

We are with British Gas but are lucky enough to have fixed for 2 years back in September last year and our monthly payment is only £100. Did you not have the chance to fix?

It's also happening to me but when I logged in through the browser rather than the app there was a way to view and screen shot the readings by date.

Not very helpfu and slightly smug. Martin Lewis was advising people not to fix. When my contract ran out at the end of Feb it coincided with the app not working and for the first time ever no deals at all being offered, due in part to a war no one predicted. So I imagine like most people OP didn't fix either.
TheUnquestionedAnswer · 03/04/2022 23:10

I haven't heard anything either and am on standard tariff - I got the two texts last week asking for readings, and that's it. No emails or anything.

whenwillthemadnessend · 03/04/2022 23:38

Nothing my end either

YawnAndTheyWillYawnToo · 04/04/2022 10:48

I had the letter a month ago
Logged in yesterday and my payments are the same as they’ve been for months - checked their other taffis and prices for fuel fuel would be £170 a month. I pay £80 a month now. Either it’ll stay the same or I’m screwed

TheChild · 04/04/2022 20:00

To the poster who asked about fixing, unfortunately my deal ended in November right at the time where the price increase was becoming well publicised and Martin Lewis was advising people not to fix. I always fix and remember doing my usual price comparison and being shocked that I couldn't find anything near what I was paying.

I'm relieved at least that I'm not the only one who hasn't heard anything. I logged on to my account on my laptop instead of my mobile as doing it via mobile always redirects me to the app which I find doesn't have a lot of detail.

What I'd really like to find out is how much gas and electricity I'm using monthly as it equates to ££, I give a reading every month and I have a small credit on my account but I'd like to know exactly how much my utilities have cost the past few months to see whether my monthly payment was around the same amount. I know the unit price and daily rate has now gone up so it won't give me a reflection of what the price will be but I'd like to increase my DD to near enough what it will actually cost instead of paying potentially more and building up credit, as at the moment every penny counts!

dementedpixie · 04/04/2022 20:24

When you submit a reading does it not tell you how much you have used and what it cost?

TheChild · 04/04/2022 20:33

No, it just says thanks for your meter reading and something about using making sure my bills are accurate
