Anyone excited for the Easter holidays?

My children (Year 2 and Reception) are exhausted. Getting DC2 out of the house in the morning is harder every passing day. DC1 has had an amazing term, but is absolutely wrecked. I am FED UP of sorting homework, reading, uniform and activities as well as working. And this holiday isn't so ridiculously long that we'll all end up sick of each other. Bring It On.

well i'm working all the way through Easter so not much to be overly excited about here

IntendingWell · 31/03/2022 18:58

Yes! I home educate my 2 and I need the break even if they don't! 😅

MuchTooTired · 31/03/2022 18:58

My DTs are off of nursery for the Easter holidays, so not much excitement here. Plenty of dread though… Grin

DD8's teacher is an absolute stone cold nasty cunt. This year has been very difficult. I cannot wait for a two week breather.

Yes! I’m working but from home so an extra hour in bed in the morning without the school run and getting youngest up and out. Thankfully mine are all secondary age and young adults now so I don’t need to do much with them and I only work 4 days so have a day off in the week to do something if youngest (11) wants to.

I used to dread school holidays (4 DC and used to be a SAHM). Now they’re not an issue thank god!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 31/03/2022 19:06

Yes, I'm working most of it but booked a couple of days off. We've got some nice stuff planned. DS doesn't break up until the 8th though.

Mrsweasleysclock · 31/03/2022 19:09

Yes, really looking forward to it!! Kids are tired of the morning rush. Got some activities planned and they're in holiday club for a few days. Also Ramadan is starting so really excited to be able to do the first half of it without worrying about morning alarms going off.

whoruntheworldgirls · 31/03/2022 19:27

I am! Off on holiday for 2 weeks, get me on that plane!
My Y1 child is doing well but is getting tired earlier in the evening, really needs a break now.

Same jere amd my work basically doubles during school holidays.
GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 31/03/2022 19:35

No, not really. The weather forecast looks pretty atrocious, and DH isn't taking any time off, so it's down to me to entertain our two for the next 2.5 weeks.

They don't get on, either, so there'll be lots of squabbles to break up. Hmm

A580Hojas · 31/03/2022 19:37

Short memories eh? Such a short time ago and everyone was fretting about the ill effects of children being at home all the time instead of at school.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 31/03/2022 19:38

DH has booked a camping trip.
I'm working out how many sleeping bags and duvets I can fit in the car....

UsernameInTheTown · 31/03/2022 19:44

It is OP. Example, DD put her hand up to offer to read in class and Cuntface said "I hope you're going to do a better job than last time?".
DD is extremely quiet in school (terrified) and studious and her previous reading had been perfectly fine, no issues.
There are many many instances of this vile creature bullying DD and various classmates. DD and a few others have weekly appointments with a lovely Pastoral care worker who is aware of all this. To say I hate this wretched creature and her enablers is an understatement and if my Voodoo doll effigy doesn't work I'll be waiting for her down a dark alley.
Anyway, that was cathartic and I hope you all have a super Easter hols, we plan to Smile.

I have both weeks off as we originally thought we could manage to go to Orlando.

DD is in Y10, currently assessed for anxiety and panic disorder. Her head just announced on Tuesday that it's "a year and 20 days until your GCSE exams start" Thanks, DD was sick because of stress and panic for a day.

We desperate need a break and as Orlando didn't work out we are off for a week to Tenerife, may not be hot but sunny and warmer than here.

Eh? I don't think anyone who was concerned about the effects of lockdown recommended banning school holidays 😂

What is your point?
SummerBluez · 31/03/2022 20:33

Yes especially because I work in a school so also get 3 weeks off. Got so much planned and cant wait.

Hedonism · 31/03/2022 20:39

Can't wait. I've got some time off, and my DC have got fun plans for the days I am working. It will be good to have a break from the old routine.

winterchills · 31/03/2022 21:13

Yes I'm the same! Kids are absolutely knackered having to drag them out of their beds and the door in the morning (and my self)!! Will be nice to have some quality time together whilst breaking up a million fights a day 😁

Yes, are you incapable of understanding the difference between a lockdown where we weren't allowed to leave home for non essential reasons for months on end, versus a 2 week break for Easter?
Comedycook · 31/03/2022 21:25

I'll confess I don't love school holidays. I find it exhausting and get tired of endless requests for food! My quiet time whilst they're at school is precious to me! I'm an introvert though

BrutusMcDogface · 31/03/2022 21:26

Can’t bloody wait. I teach in special school full time and have four children. My life is a complete whirlwind and I’m looking forward to stepping off the treadmill for a bit. The kids will fight and drive me mad; I have a ridiculous amount of housework to do; ditto schoolwork. But I really, REALLY can’t wait.

BrutusMcDogface · 31/03/2022 21:27

When I was a SAHM briefly (with a toddler; have never been sahm with all school aged children) I didn’t look forward to the hold quite as much but now I’m working again, I do. I need to spend time with the little gremlins as term time life is so busy. Grateful I can do that.
