Has to be Euphoria for me!

OP posts:

Bucks Fizz. Major childhood memories.
I also have very strange flashbacks of a song that went something like (apologies in advance) "Let it swing and let it rock and roll, let it swing and let your feelings take control" which I have in mind was a notable Eurovision moment of yore, but I may have dreamt it.

FrydayFish · 29/03/2022 23:39

99 red balloons ... surely

SlappingPeopleAtTheOscars · 29/03/2022 23:40

Oh god so many of these! Especially Fairytale and Save All Your Kisses For Me. Around this time of year BBC 4 usually does some kind of Eurovision retrospective and it invariably includes Brotherhood of Man lifting their wee knees up. I love them! 🥰

Goofbawl · 29/03/2022 23:40

Euphoria!
And Tout l’universe.

SlappingPeopleAtTheOscars · 29/03/2022 23:41

99 Red Balloons wasn't Eurovision was it?

Nannyamc · 29/03/2022 23:41

We irish are the kings of eurovision . Johnny Logan..Dana..Linda Martin..Emer Quinn Rock and roll kids Niamh Kavanagh..but the true winner was river dance . Still going strong.

SlappingPeopleAtTheOscars · 29/03/2022 23:42

... My Lovely Horse ...
(Sorry.)

Facciadimerda · 29/03/2022 23:44

This, which got absolutely ROBBED in 2010. Should have won!!

Malalaa · 29/03/2022 23:45

Mine are all quite modern. I think we've had a good few years of Eurovision entries.

Lordi hands down for me too! And I love love love Maneskin anyway and it's rereading to see actual musicians win for a change!

I love the ones that's completly over the top camp like Netta in 2018! I also like Think About Things from Iceland in 2020 and I had a soft spot for 2010 winner Lena - Satellite when I was a young 20 something.

TargusEasting · 29/03/2022 23:45

Another vote for The New Seekers and Beg Steal or Borrow.

Probably one of the first pop songs rather than traditional national folk iirc. And one of the first records I ever bought.

Jongy · 29/03/2022 23:47

At the time we all sung - I want to be a polar bear! Fab song -

Facciadimerda · 29/03/2022 23:47

[quote BattledoreAndShuttlecock]A couple of slightly more niche choices. Sebastian Tellier for France

I also love this one, never come across anyone who loves it like me before!

Here you go Sink Bobbysocks, winning for Norway after years and years of Nul Points (in the days when Nul Points was a genuine achievement). m.youtube.com/watch?v=RuZY2G4lpsA

Riverdance as best interval filler ever. I remember thinking at the start oh here we go , a bit of Irish dancing, how predictable. Wow how wrong was I?

What’s another year?
Hold me now.
All kinds of everything.
Rock and Roll kids. So many good songs have come from Eurovision and classics today. Congratulations, Puppet on a string, making your mind up. A whole list, but best song has to be Waterloo.

Best moment was when Johnny Logan won for the 2nd time and the presenter thinking he was saying Johnny Logan you are historical , it got a bit lost in his translation and he said Johnny Logan, you are hysterical!

Squiff70 · 29/03/2022 23:49

Lasha Tumbai by Verka Seduchka (Ukraine). Can't remember the year but it was bloody hilarious and by far the best Eurovision performance I've ever seen.

HoneyFlowers · 29/03/2022 23:49

Rock and Roll kids the worst song ever to win, so boring! Can someone please explain why it won?

AngeloMysterioso · 29/03/2022 23:52

Euphooooooooooooria

Absolute banger

Ubercornsdiscoball · 29/03/2022 23:54

Angel by Ukraine in 2011 for me. I love watching the sand art too

HoneyFlowers · 29/03/2022 23:56

I like Poland To Nie Ja however you write it... 1994.

Also I think it was 1992... The opening song before the contest "Moments to live" by Swedish winner previous year.. Would have easily won if it had entered as song for Sweden.

SlappingPeopleAtTheOscars · 29/03/2022 23:56

Omg that Sebastian tellier number is v similar to this Bruno Mars.

Well I think so anyway.

DirectionToPerfection · 29/03/2022 23:56

Portugal with Amar Pelos Dois, just gorgeous. I was thrilled that it won.

Also love Fairytale, Quedate Conmigo (Spain 2012) and Sound of Silence (Aus 2016).

Hiphopopotamus · 29/03/2022 23:57

Surely Love Love Peace Peace Wink it had absolutely everything that makes a Eurovision song a winner...

Vodkaandgingerale · 29/03/2022 23:57

Hallelujah...Milk and Honey
The Portuguese heart transplant winner a few years ago
Abba
A little peace ...Nicole
Beg steal or Borrow ..New Seekers
Bucks Fizz
Puppet on a String .. Sandi Shaw
Ooh ahh just a little bit
The Netherlands one by the Common Linnets
Not a fan of Euro pop stuff really but more classic stuff

Germolenequeen · 29/03/2022 23:58

Johnny Logan both songs 😍😍

DirectionToPerfection · 30/03/2022 00:00

Also Il Volo for Italy in 2015, amazing performance on the night. Won the televote by a landslide but robbed by the juries. Angry
