Will Smith looks like a drunk, fucking idiot. I agree with the pp, it’s possible to think both men were arses.

KellsBells77 · 28/03/2022 13:07

@AskItaliano

Will Smith laughed at the joke. I wouldn't have laughed at it, but he did.

He assaulted Chris rock after he saw how upset Jada looked but he laughed at the joke before that.

Again, I wouldn't have. But HE did, which makes the whole thing even crazier as it has an added layer of hypocrisy.

I think Will will have been in a world of shit from Jada for laughing at it initially and then the assault. He found it funny at first.

Don’t know if he found it funny. Could have been one of those “laugh along as everyone else is laughing”, but when he saw Jada reality hit.
gazprom · 28/03/2022 13:07

I have alopecia - I have a shaved head. It is NOT NOT NOT a disability.

fgs

TenRedThings · 28/03/2022 13:09

@PferdeMerde

Jada was humiliated twice last night. These 2 grown men are pathetic creeps.

I agree. They both humiliated her in different ways.

Eyedropeyeflop · 28/03/2022 13:10

@theDudesmummy

It was me but I did not say I would “expect” my husband to defend me like that. I can defend myself, but the reality is if a man was openly disrespecting me in public (and let’s not forget he had been slandering his wife on social media in digs prior to the Oscar’s) then my husband probably would give him a slap. Lol 😂

Am I a beaten wife? Erm that would be a no.

LaraDeSalle · 28/03/2022 13:12

I posted a link ^ showing that they were laughing and hugged off stage as it went to the commercial break as it was completely set up.

Calennig · 28/03/2022 13:12

@Swayingpalmtrees

I would like to know why he hasn't yet been arrested.
Police there issued a statement that Chris Rock refused to press charges - different system to UK were police and CPS make that decision.
LaraDeSalle · 28/03/2022 13:13

@BeHappy91818

Chris deserved it. Taking the piss out of a medical condition is vile.
It was deliberately staged.

See my video link further back where they hugged and laughed offstage immediately afterwards when it went to the commercial break.

Lampzade · 28/03/2022 13:15

Chris Rock may not have been aware that Jada Smith had alopecia.
She has always been slightly edgy and has rocked extremely short hair before. Her daughter is currently sporting a buzz cut and looks amazing with it. Her mother also has very short hair.
Jada has always been perceived who is comfortable with herself.
I just think that Jada and Will dislike Chris Rock

youvegottenminuteslynn · 28/03/2022 13:15

@LaraDeSalle

Can you repost this link as I haven't seen anything of the sort?

Quirkyme · 28/03/2022 13:16

@MollyRover

Something really off about Chris Rock in general, I remember seeing him on Graham Norton once and his attitude towards women was pretty disgusting. Wouldn't surprise me if there was genuine animosity there. Chris Rock is just not funny either, real "lowest common denominator" comedy in my opinion.
Agree.
Nosetickle · 28/03/2022 13:16

Punching/hitting Chris Rock wasn’t the way to deal with it. He’d have been better off not laughing at the joke in the first place and putting his arm around his wife in support of her and perhaps challenged him verbally from his seat. He initially laughed and then got angry and resorted to violence. It was bizarre.

moonbedazzled · 28/03/2022 13:16

I agree that alopecia is an awful thing amd Chris Rock should have kept it zipped. But Jada has been humiliating Will Smith for quite some time now on Red Table Talk.
gazprom · 28/03/2022 13:17

oh, and I wonder if WS went up to the gag writer of the material, Bruce Vilanche, after the show?

Now Vilanche also has an unconventional appearance and appears to rock it (Grayson Perry meets Michael Moore)

GeoffLynton · 28/03/2022 13:18

@LaraDeSalle the clips you keep posting show nothing of the sort?
gazprom · 28/03/2022 13:19

@LaraDeSalle I think that's Denzel Washington

BeHappy91818 · 28/03/2022 13:20

@LaraDeSalle

Your link doesn’t show anything like that 😵‍💫

VampireMoney · 28/03/2022 13:21
@VampireMoney

He didn’t just say something that WS didn’t like though did he? It was a personal attack (A joke which really wasn’t a joke).

Saying something that people don’t like is different to personally goading somebody and there is a fine line which you are approaching in a very black and white manner.

Like I said he didn’t just state some random opinion that WS didn’t like…… it was personal.

If you believe that every male who has a physical altercation with another male is instantly a wife beater you are very black and white, at best misinformed.
You have no idea who I am. Or what my exh was like.

My comment stands. You can't just slap people and expect to get away with it. Period.

Suzi888 · 28/03/2022 13:23

Why a slap and not a punch Hmm not sure it wasn’t a set up.

myrtleWilson · 28/03/2022 13:23

@LaraDeSalle that isn't CR and WS hugging in the break

skodadoda · 28/03/2022 13:26

I don’t know whether it’s already been said but reaction on today’s Woman’s Hour is generally not impressed with 1) women needing a man to defend them; 2) violence being used because of ‘love’.

www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0015v80

Snoozer11 · 28/03/2022 13:30

I really wish I wasn't surprised that so many are defending him. But here we are.

Eyedropeyeflop · 28/03/2022 13:30

@VampireMoney

You also have no idea about my background but thankfully I have enough awareness and insight to not counter transfer any of my issues.

I can’t get worked up over this.

It’s not systemic abuse and Chris wasn’t a totally innocent bystander in this. He got slapped for repeatedly dissing his wife (even prior on social media).

Hugely newsworthy on the world stage but not actually that newsworthy in the real world.

Man has an attitude, man gets slapped.
Not even news.

gazprom · 28/03/2022 13:31

My violent dad's behaviour was excused by my mum as coming from too much 'passion'

LaraDeSalle · 28/03/2022 13:31

@Suzi888

Why a slap and not a punch Hmm not sure it wasn’t a set up.
Of course it was set up!

They laughed and hugged off stage when the commercial break came on after the slap incident.
