What's gracing your kitchen island this weekend?

Having spotted an artfully arranged acacia wood bowl of pomegranates gracing a friend's kitchen island, I feel I need to up my island game somewhat. What's gracing your kitchen island this weekend? Time to swap my pile of unpaid bills for something more stylish!

I dont have a island so nowt doing here but I think you need a stunt pineapple and rented salad ( see other thread Grin )

gluenotsoup · 27/03/2022 15:49

A wooden and ivory enamel bowl with grapes in and a small vase of flowers who match the kitchen (artificial).
And… a set of keys, half finished Easter bonnet, my watch, and some lamb steaks .

VyeBrator · 27/03/2022 15:49

I live in a tiny ex council house. If I had a kitchen island, I'd probably use the cupboard underneath as a spare bedroom.

Duchess379 · 27/03/2022 15:49

Don't have a kitchen island...

NandorTheRelentlessCleaner · 27/03/2022 15:49

Kitchen island? How very 90s Grin

gluenotsoup · 27/03/2022 15:50

Which not who. It doesn’t have a name.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 27/03/2022 15:58

Half a massive cake, big box of cookies, post I sorted but my DP has managed to un-sort, a jar of random chocolate bars (probably out of date) and several boxes of chicken wrap kits that my DP liberated from the back of a cupboard to throw away but doesn't appear to have managed to get in the bin despite the bin being closer to the cupboard than the island is Hmm.

I doubt you'd want to copy any of these lovely ideas Grin.

irregularegular · 27/03/2022 16:04

I'm very strict about my island. NOTHING on it EVER, apart from actual cooking/serving. But it's not particularly big.

MrsDThomas · 27/03/2022 16:14

I don’t have one.

Whatever is on my kitchen worktop is practical, not for show.

Passthecake30 · 27/03/2022 16:17

Loads of DHs receipts, random school letters, pet treats, pens, pens, a torch, pegs.
Can’t stand it, it’s a dumping ground.

chickensafari · 27/03/2022 16:19

Oh yes I'd forgotten all about stunt pineapples, just the job Grin - I had no idea about rented salads though!

Pile of actually rubbish as the bin is (yet again) full and not emptied.
Bills - a game, phone charger and keys.

So stylish. Maybe I could rent the crap out and move house?

OldTinHat · 27/03/2022 16:38

A blue biro, a two week old local paper, a crisp wrapper, my purse, a used plate and the silicone ring that lives inside of my water bottle to remind me to put it back in.

DeckTheHallsWithGin · 27/03/2022 16:41

Mines a peninsula not an island but has an arty glass bowl of lemons and limes, vase of flowers, pile of post, shopping list, half a bottle of tonic, and spray bottle of rain water for the seedlings and a pcr kit at the moment.

SookieHouseboat · 27/03/2022 16:43

Emma Bridgewater shizzle

Pegasussnail · 27/03/2022 16:43

I love mine clear (just the kettle) but artichoke decor items are all the rage apparently

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 27/03/2022 16:45

I also have a peninsula (I've never called it that before, but am going to start immediately!).

It has the breadbin, a bottle of Fairy liquid, a council tax bill, the little thing you stand your LFT test vial in, a mask, a penny and a button that fell off my blouse when I was putting it in the wash.

100problems · 27/03/2022 16:47

From the right: a pile of clean washing, my glasses, two pairs of scissors, a dog lead and a defrosted joint of pork.

MintJulia · 27/03/2022 16:55

Window seat rather than island, but there's a vase of pink tulips, a Mother's Day card and a recycled glass oil flask with a brass tap.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 27/03/2022 17:07

On ours we have a kitchen palm-tree and a small kitchen castaway.

Oh, and a brace of monkeys.

FreezyFreezy · 27/03/2022 17:08

We don't have one. The dining room table however has a steam engine, a load of paper, some SATs practise books, a few pens, some watercolour paints, a teddy bear, a used glass and some daffodils. There's no room to actually eat from it.

YodaLivesOnMySofa · 27/03/2022 17:10

Really need to tidy mine. At the moment it has:

Furminator
Method cleaning spray
Kitchen Roll
Hand Cream
My watch which is on charge
Tissues
Tea towels
Headphones
Baby Wipes
A sharpie
2 bottles of water

mizzo · 27/03/2022 18:01

A vase of flowers and a million crumbs because DS1 knocked the toaster over and is crap at cleaning up.

I like to keep it clear usually.

Floralnomad · 27/03/2022 18:04

The same as what is always on our island - a handbag , a box of tissues , a key tray with keys , a bottle of hand sanitiser and a pack of wet wipes .I’m allergic to pomegranates .
