It's Sunday. I'm bored! Do you have any celebrity friends as in close enough to have them on Watsapp etc. Come on give us a clue, maybe some MNers will even be brave enough to tell us names!

I don't have any friends, let alone being friends with a celebrity. But I did meet the guy who draws the terrible pet art on Facebook

DameHelena · 28/03/2022 17:42

@WomanStanleyWoman

Friend had an affair with Ben Miller of Armstrong and Miller fame.

Another friend’s daughter goes to a very posh private school and Elton John’s son came to her birthday party. Elton sent a minion to do drop-off and pick-up, so friend didn’t get to meet him, but she has met My Partner David Furnish when doing the school run.

I slept with an actor who was in tons of big TV shows in the early 00s, but somehow didn’t take off in the way everyone expected, to the point that I can’t remember when I last saw him in anything. (I slept with him after his heyday, so I can’t be blamed for his career downturn Grin)

Oh I wouldn't mind a go with Ben Miller.

Totally @Snoopdogsbitofposh

Wouldn't know a "celebrity" if I fell over one in the street, and don't care either.
More Important things in life than glorifying someone who's been on a reality show.
Unfortunately, all a lot of kids, nowadays, want, is to be "famous", even if it means making complete idiots of themselves on rubbish tv

DameHelena · 28/03/2022 17:46

If someone is friends with a person, they're going to say they're lovely, who on earth is friends with someone they don't like!
TBF the thread is 'do you know...' not 'are they lovely?'

giggly · 28/03/2022 17:46

I thought it said upthread it was Simon Neil from Biffy

Integrity7 · 28/03/2022 17:48

@iknowstuff I am trying to produce some movies but struggling a bit with no co producers , funding or agent or actors attached yet- also disabled lone parent - would really appreciate any advice you could give on getting agents and others involved. I used to know people but typically wasn't trying to get into movies at the time I did.

DameHelena · 28/03/2022 17:50

@iknowstuff

Name change for obvious reasons..

I know a few (job related), for example - Orlando Bloom and Ron Pearlman would two I know best. I was friends with Heath Ledger too back in the day...

I still feel sad about Heath Ledger and vividly remember feeling like I'd been hit by a bus when I heard he died. And I am not usually that bovvered about celebrity deaths. He seemed like a special soul in a way I can't quite explain. He was a shockingly brilliant actor too, especially in Brokeback and as the Joker.

I don't really have any, except Paul Merton came to my house for a meal (with others, not just me and him, like) aeons ago. Was quiet, polite, very passionate about comedy and its history once he got going.

DanceIndiaDance · 28/03/2022 17:52

Not friends but been on nights out with them and chat to them through work but married at first sights 2021 cast (most of them), Anthony Quinlan and a few household named comedians.

LCD39 · 28/03/2022 17:53

I lived next to Keith Flint from The Prodigy as a teenager! He was so lovely and would always talk to me when I was out walking the dogs! He even got my brother tickets to a music festival... lovely man! Xxx

littlemisskt · 28/03/2022 17:55

Only my brother but he’s only famous in his sport which is quite niche (sidecar road racing) and most people have no idea but he was GB champion a few years ago and races at Isle of Man TT

JaneJeffer · 28/03/2022 17:55

Anthony Quinlan he seems like a sweetheart and replied to me on Instagram once so I love him Grin

starfishmummy · 28/03/2022 17:59

I've known a not very famous actor since I was a student and he used to crash on our sofa. Played some "northern salt of the earth types" on TV and film but mostly works on stage and "rests" a lot.

Prophetorwell · 28/03/2022 17:59

No, but I see lots of famous people at my daughter’s very posh school.

Morganrae1 · 28/03/2022 18:01

My husband good friend was Stuart Cable (Sterophonics). Un fortunately he is no longer with us.

Fredstheteds · 28/03/2022 18:01

Jason bonham was a neighbour i baby sat for them a lot

Jue01 · 28/03/2022 18:01

I knew George Michael very well before he was famous - we went to the same school and we remained friends even when he became super famous - we still went out for dinner etc . Still can't believe he is no longer here

marktayloruk · 28/03/2022 18:03

Have met some exboxers and was friends with late writer Mary Cadogan.

DarkSkyBrightStars · 28/03/2022 18:05

I adore Marillion and Fish is incredible.

masterblaster · 28/03/2022 18:05

@SheilaTheGr3at

Yes, I'm good friends with Fish from Marillion and we exchange messages weekly and chat

I realise most of you won't know who this is

Anyone that doesn’t, know who Fish is sucks.
ClubTropicanaVIP · 28/03/2022 18:07

@TheNonsensePotter

Such a disappointing thread. What is the point in posting if you're not going to name them??
Hah exactly this!! I knew Ken Dodd’s ….dad’s dog 😂

That's a bit sour sounding really. Sometimes people get well known because they are very good, and very successful at something. Like talented musicians, artists etc. I suppose you could say they are celebrities, but it's not the same as getting your kit off on a reality show in a bid for fame.
DaisyDreaming · 28/03/2022 18:09

Yes but nothing interesting about them at all (in the nicest possible way!). What you see on screen is what you get. Most celebs are just people at the end of the day as cliche as that is

LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana · 28/03/2022 18:10

Queenie yes I went to charters and Swinley before that :) I had Ringo Starr's stepson in my class :)

DanceItOut · 28/03/2022 18:10

I know several as in have met more than once. Some friends of friends. Some just locals I have come across. But not well enough to be WhatsApp friends. Although if anyone has Alan shearer on WhatsApp my ex boss Glenn (married into shearers family) took him my Newcastle t-shirt to sign many many years ago and I never got the shirt back signed or otherwise 😂 not that it would fit me two babies later I suppose.
