Should I stay or should I go

I've got the opportunity to go to Canada for initially 6 months, could be more if I like it and can get an extension on my visa. On a working holiday visa. I'm really unhappy with my life, I don't really like my job, I'm single no kids, rent so leaving a house wouldn't be a problem. Me and my friend applied on a wim and now it's actually happening I can't decide whether I want to go....I'd have to put all my belongings into storage and give my dog away. Arghhh I don't know what to do.

OP, re the dog: my mum rehomed a dog belonging to friends of friends, because they were moving to Australia. It worked out brilliantly. She didn't know his previous owners beforehand, so they came to visit a couple of times with the dog, and then he stayed overnight, and then for a weekend, and so on, over a few weeks. He settled immediately, didn't pine for them and lived a very happy life (he died quite recently, after 5 wonderful years). When they came back to visit he was delighted to see them but didn't want to leave with them.

So given everything else you say about your life, I'd suggest putting out some feelers for who might be a good person to rehome your dog, and then give it a go. You might love it, and even if you don't, you'll have an adventure!
