Calafornia no joke either I’ve already seen photos of his home it’s incredulous and the swimming pool. I won’t say anymore I’m not tempting fate.

Silkierabbit · 28/04/2022 23:39

California with a pool sounds perfect DrBrenner

Happy birthday to all of your DCs Math Too much cake sounds like a very nice problem to have to me.

Hope tomorrow goes as well as it can Prok, probably today for you now.

Quite a successful evening. DS has a short haircut, first since last November and he went willingly and is happy with it, phew. DH is also happy with it, double phew. DH picked up the mop spray and my pink cushion from Dunelm. We all had a Burger King and DS went there as well. I finally heard back from one of the schools have applied to consider having DS and exchanged lots of long e-mails and trying to get a visit and making progress. Finally heard from LA SN team and a call with them next Tues and they are trying to get this school as first choice and supporting it and they have feedback from CAHMs. I did all the accounts from January to April. DH washed more DS blankets and DD thinks there are fleas as no Silkiecat Hmm can't say I have noticed any so DH flea sprayed the house. 2 cleaners coming on Saturday for a one-off 2.5 hour clean just doing downstairs as upstairs is OK. Had my counselling session.

halfpasteleven · 29/04/2022 04:24

Math, I agree with Silkie, 4 cakes in 4 weeks sounds very nice indeed!

Prok, I hope the service went well for you all, especially your DH.

We planted some tomato and strawberry plants this evening.. I hope they grow now- would be nice for DS to see the fruits of his labour this summer.

Champagneforeveryone · 29/04/2022 09:23

All the best for today prok and fingers crossed you are making some progress with DS's school silkie

DS had a good family birthday and has emerged about £3000 better off, after a combination of gifts and finally getting his clammy mitts on his child trust fund. Friends start to arrive from about 4pm and things will become much more uncontained from that point. My fridge is groaning with "age appropriate party food" and alcohol as I was categorically banned from making traffic light jellies or car shaped sandwiches 😆DS did however agree to a Colin the Caterpillar cake so all is not lost.

DM's train leaves at 11.30. Somehow the idea of 8 teenagers staying the night is nothing after fielding her for the last couple of days 🙄

Silkierabbit · 29/04/2022 13:48

Champagne Good luck with 8 teenagers and glad your DM is going home. My DD would be very jealous of £3000 for an 18th. I have already been told some children get new cars for their 18th. DS is the opposite and asks for nothing or chocolate cake and no guests so he does not have to share it.

Some progress on schools this morning. Current school and DDs school are trying to arrange a taster day. Not heard back from second one but at least things are starting to happen.

DD is at school this morning and down to maths school in London for offer holders day this afternoon and her friend with an offer is also going. My rug is being washed, it is full of my hair though hair loss has reduced a lot at the moment, it seems the areas with no frozen peas have got almost all lost and frozen peas part (basically all hair on top and fringe) are surviving much better and maybe 80% there. So I just have short hair still atm. I miss my long hair though, its like a short bob style now, cut by myself and I feel in a 1980s time warp.

Need to get ready for the one-off cleaner today as well. Sorted through some e-mails last night.

sueelleker · 29/04/2022 15:36

@Champagne;
If you really must make jellies, make some jelly shots. www.thespruceeats.com/jell-o-shot-recipes-popular-cocktails-759004

MissConductUS · 29/04/2022 15:58

Jello shots were quite the rage here about 10 years ago. I only know this from TV. Smile And speaking of TV, I just started watching a new UK based series on Amazon Prime called Truth Seekers. It's a comedy about three amateur paranormal investigators. I've been looking for clues about where it's set, and other than the fact that it's rural, no luck yet.

Champagne, well done surviving the DM visit and the invading horde of visigoths teenagers. 3k quid is a lovely start for an ISA. My DC both have tax-advantaged retirement accounts.

The Duck Bros are back. I refuse to speculate on why they are keeping company. It was a bit windy this morning, as you can see from the waves on the reservoir.

DDog2 is feverish. She knows something is happening and DH has told her several times that "her boys" are coming to see her.

DDog2 has a long list of things she hates / is frightened of/ is furious about. The Good List comprises only of teenage boys, central heating, DDog1 (most of the time) and paddling pools. She keeps mooching up the drive and staring wistfully through the gate like a fairy tale princess waiting for her prince(s)

HelenaJustina · 29/04/2022 19:46

Have been reading to catch up but not posting. It’s been a difficult week at work and I’m very grateful it is now the long weekend. I have some nice plans but in dull news, I may go in to work on Monday because I only get things done when no one else is there

Silkierabbit · 29/04/2022 19:52

DD said the maths school was very boring. She is back home now and sleeping.

I am quite tired and also woke up and could not move my jaw on the one side much and was hurting, same side my leg often goes numb. It has come back now and I had a calipo cola lolly, that was Dr DH suggestion to cure it and it sounded good to me.

DH said he is downstairs doing a pre clean for cleaner but so far have only heard calls in French. We are having jacket potatoes for dinner. DD was supposed to be washing her bedding as she said it needed washing, we were banned from doing it when we offered and also banned from moving it to tumble drier [roll] but she appears to be asleep.

DrBrennerFan · 29/04/2022 23:40

Back so much better still happy about Thursday plans going ok for everything more decluttering today really done loads that isn’t seen, the main rucksack is packed in a cupboard just for me to pick up the day I leave. He was out for a few hours so could do it. It’s just waiting now, at least Stranger Things will keep me happy especially on Twitter with all the fans. As I’m mad on Mathew Modine perfect cover for anything else.

The location for Truth Seekers has been revealed in episode two. It's set in Dorset's Jurassic Coast. I have no idea where that is. 😁

Hope your MILs funeral went as well as it could yesterday Prok

Hope you are surviving 8 teenage boys Champagne

Beautiful sunrise here. DH had put away the washed up plates before the cleaner arrives then DD decided to bring all her washing up down from her room. Cleaner arrives at 11am.

I have no idea what Truth Seekers is, but I am very well acquainted with the Jurassic coast 😉

All is quiet as the grave here. I'm about to venture downstairs and deal with the carnage, as well as cooking breakfast.

Silkierabbit · 30/04/2022 08:13

DH has just informed me that he has had a shower and he is now going to get everything ready for the cleaner at the speed of light. Though I am not totally sure he gets the idea as he just asked me if he should move the entire contents of a big cupboard upstairs which the cleaner won't go near. The idea is to tidy things so cleaner can clean. DH seems to have decided idea is to move entire contents of downstairs upstairs. I would try and explain but he isn't wearing his hearing aids. Still his intentions are good and I can hear things being done.

Silkierabbit · 30/04/2022 08:17

The silkie has just heard DH is up and decided he could make himself useful so there is now lots of borking.

Silkierabbit · 30/04/2022 08:19

Hope everything is OK with you Lemonsandlemonade has your DB got any more news?

It's a new Amazon Prime TV series I've just started watching. I posted about it up thread.

I would have been more descriptive last night, but I was posting from my Kindle, which is a right pain in the arse to type on.

I'm up early to get some time on the stationary bike.

DH has obtained us tickets to sit in the VIP section at DS's graduation ceremony in three weeks. I believe that a donation to the university and some smooth talking were involved.

Well I don't know about dull and unexciting...

I had been lying in bed dozing for quite a while , very aware my bladder was yelling 'get up'. I always casually look at the time on my phone to see how much longer i can lie there before I have to get up. I was on an 'early' at work 7-1. It was 06.53!!!! Oh dear! I had to rush to the loo, fall into the shower and grab whatever clothes I could find. Which is why I am now sitting here in a rusty coloured top (ordered it cos it looked red in the pic) and Lilac jogging bottoms! I got in an hour later after phoning the porter who was on reception at the time. All is well now and I managed to put my make up on so as not to horrify too many people!!

Yes I normally put an alarm on my phone and normally get up well before it. I am also normally very early in to work too!

Silkierabbit · 30/04/2022 12:09

At least you are at work now Death

The cleaners are here and 2 of them working downstairs and here for 2.5 hours. One of them has just told DH to do the washing up. 😂DH had actually done it and put it away then DD came down with lots from her room which he did not get chance to do. The only thing is he has not got his hearing aids in so not sure if he understood them or he was just saying yes. Both seem to be hoovering atm the same place DH claimed to have hoovered this morning and its taking a long time and 2 hoovers. Will be great to have it done properly not a skim hoover. The rabbit hay gets trailed through there by DS.

Silkierabbit · 30/04/2022 12:17

DH just came upstairs so I said the cleaner said can you do the washing up DH said yes but did not look like he understood. I repeated again and DH oh yes I can go and do it now. So obviously not understood the cleaners before.

Silkierabbit · 30/04/2022 12:25

The cleaners are asking DH questions and DH is answering them but not the questions asked. I can hear how many years have you lived here to DH and DH replying yes years and years, yes x random town is good for shopping. We have lived here 3 years. Grin Though the cleaners are like shouting their questions so they have obviously realised how good DHs hearing is.

DrBrennerFan · 30/04/2022 14:46

More decluttering done rucksack dare treated myself to these for Birmingham hospital appointment, and for when I leave . So thrilled loads of love reassurance from future love .

The funeral, though very much smaller than DMil planned (she hoped to die younger) was exactly as she wanted. There were even a few people from the office she worked in all her life. Like all cemeteries this one is full of flowers, old trees and wildlife, too, and it is lovely to just walk there despite everything and especially in spring. Karlsruhe is always earlier and generally warmer.
We ate at a lovely 'Biergarten'.
The way back was 'interesting': our train was cancelled and replaced by another, there were building works going on, so our train had to wait often, there was an accident on the line and we had to go around it, and there was an incident where police had to be called into the train. But the w-lan was good, the chargers worked, there was food and coffee and the washrooms were in order. So all fine Grin

Silkierabbit · 30/04/2022 16:56

Glad the funeral went as well as it could Prok

The cleaning was a big success. DH was anti getting a one-off clean saying he could keep things clean fine but it was very clear we needed a cleaner for downstairs. DH has been completely converted and he also announced he was going to clear his papers, clear his rubbish, it was helpful for his mental health, sort out clothes and sort out the old TV before he then went to sleep for 3 hours. But he did some pre tidying and they cleaned the downstairs bathroom superbly, as well as kitchen and dining room and stairs. DH said it was very impressed and called DD down to show her. He said we will have them once a month, I said whilst I am doing treatment would be good and he said no forever. DH never spends money. Shock I don't think we will need it after treatment is finished but great he is open to the option of doing it again and will finally clear some of his papers / rubbish.
