Where are you going on holiday this year? Inspiration needed.

Seems just wrong talking about holidays doesn’t it with the horrendous things ongoing at the moment.
But I’m sure that people are trying to get life back to some normality and need something to look forward to.

We were going to go to Florida but reading reviews it seems not great and super expensive.

So if you have got somewhere booked or planned (with older kids) where are you off to if you don’t mind sharing.

DD will be 15 and we go to Rhodes for 2 weeks. Mix of relaxing at the resort and sightseeing.

We originally planned a East Coast US trip, Bosten or Washington and then a week - 10 days road trip in Virginia. But DD is just being diagonsed with Anxiety and Panic Disorder so the whole idea stressed her out even talking about it.

I originally was sad as I really fancied something else but life is too difficult at the moment so a fly and flop holiday with sightseeing is what we all need.

If you want to go to Florida, book locally. Summer is off peak in Florida, accommodation and car hire are super cheap if you don't book through a British company! It's very humid and there are LOTS of thunderstorms but if you like that sort of thing...

TheHuntingoftheSnark · 24/03/2022 08:34

Crete

MistySkiesAfterRain · 24/03/2022 08:42

Ha ha Crete too! It looks really nice and there are a few day trips though told not to bother with a few of the ruins. Crissy Island, glass bottom boat etc.

NeedWineNow · 24/03/2022 08:44

Greek island. Totally chill out beach holiday.

Hoppinggreen · 24/03/2022 08:46

3 UK long weekends on various coasts.
10 days in Germany
Considering going to Center parcs Paris and Disney in September
Spain in October
Maybe a Christmas market abroad

DappledThings · 24/03/2022 09:04

Sicily and Dorset

StrangeCondition · 24/03/2022 09:05

We went to Lanzarote in February and I'm going to Brisbane in June. Would love to squeeze in a long weekend in Bruges at some point but not sure I've enough leave Sad

JodieFoster1 · 24/03/2022 09:08

Pembrokeshire and Lands End, surfing with teenagers.

Happydays321 · 24/03/2022 09:11

Northumberland and cornwall, very near lands end.
I wonder if we're going to the same place @JodieFoster1!

JodieFoster1 · 24/03/2022 09:24

Happydays321 it’s actually Sennen (Poldark country Grin), always wanted to go to Northumberland, looks stunning.

Keladrythesaviour · 24/03/2022 09:35

3 week road trip to Italy. All being well, it's been cancelled three times...

Natsku · 24/03/2022 09:35

Not very inspiring to people already in the UK but I'm taking the children to the UK for the summer. Starting with a week in Scotland (Loch Lomond), the rest at my parents in England with hopefully various day trips/weekend trips to different places. Hoping to have a couple of days one on one time with my daughter in London as well.

Also been planning next year's holiday, thinking medical spa in Estonia - nice relaxing family holiday and maybe I can get some affordable dental work done at the same time, plus an indepth health check up

BrieAndChilli · 24/03/2022 10:13

@TheHuntingoftheSnark @MistySkiesAfterRain we are also off to crete!

@Keladrythesaviour we did a road trip to Italy in 2019 - kids still talk about going to 8 different countries in the same holiday, was a good mix of seeing stuff on the way/way back with a week to relax on the beach in italy.

Keladrythesaviour · 24/03/2022 10:17

@BrieAndChilli we did road trips with my parents as kids and loved it, I think they're really under rated! I loved staying in different hotels and seeing different places. We do them now when we can - did Spain pre pandemic.

mumonthehill · 24/03/2022 10:20

Also Crete in July and then a wedding in Cyprus in September.

TravellingSpoon · 24/03/2022 10:24

Hoping to get to Kos, booked it in 2019 and have rearranged several times and booked for different destinations but have never got to go. DS will be 15 and DD 13.

We are also booked to go to Pembrokeshire for May half term.

SommerTen · 24/03/2022 10:49

Crete!

MsWalterMitty · 24/03/2022 10:50

I love the idea of road trips!… Broken up an awful lot with hotels though!! 🤣

We drove to Paris a couple of years ago and the kids loved the euro tunnel… soo easy too!

It’s nice having your own car too and not a hire car

TheSpanishApartment · 24/03/2022 10:51

Cornwall in May half term, Menorca in the summer and Iceland for new year. Keeping fingers heavily crossed for the overseas ones - both postponed from covid.

Happydays321 · 24/03/2022 10:53

@JodieFoster1 we're at sennen cove, I love it there.
Northumberland is fab, not so good for surfing though.

Chelsea26 · 24/03/2022 10:57

We’re going to Nerja in April with all the kids and then walking the Amalfi Coast in June (no kids!) Can’t wait for both for different reasons!

Franklin12 · 24/03/2022 11:02

The Amalfi coast is stunning. Dont forget to visit Ravello. If you can go for dinner even better. All the tourists will have gone and the views are just breathtaking.

bluesky45 · 24/03/2022 11:11

Planning a week in Italy at eurocamp if we can afford it, and get our passports in time. Trying to fit in our first family holiday abroad before ds1 starts school so we can pay less but money is a bit tight, selling my car to afford it 😬

Isseywith3witchycats · 24/03/2022 11:23

Cyprus in may for two weeks
