Despite how thin Kate is, her face is lovely and pumped up. I want the name of her doctor! Great work re the fillers.

@SarahBellam

This is brutal. I gaggle of women ripping another woman’s looks to shreds. There is absolutely no need for it. Do you think that there is a Dadsnet somewhere where a bunch of men are petty snarking about William’s face, or shoes, or tie? No, of course there isn’t. We are better than this.
This. I don’t mind a bit of comment on someone who makes money from looking a certain way, but Kates job is really only to look like she’s made an effort in respect to her host/ guests/representatives. Box ticked. Who cares about the rest, it’s barely noticeable ? (If she suddenly goes to a DD cup maybe)

No But not because “better” Instead the ripping apart would more likely be about

What car you drive
How much you earn
What football team you support

More likely that kind of thing

I agree- right now she's had just enough done that she looks young and well (pretty near impossible when you're that underweight and over 40). Because I'm a bitch, I'm secretly hoping that she won't be able to stop here, and that ultimately she'll end up looking like one of those people off those old channel 5 "documentaries". (I don't even really have anything against the poor woman 🤣🤣 I would just love it if I somehow looked better than her by 50, with my haggard face, pot belly, and middle-aged grey crop 🤞🏻🤞🏻)

I think she looks great but she must have fine something as she used to have wrinkles and now doesn’t. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging this.

fogglez · 23/03/2022 06:30

I don't understand why if you disagree that she's the most beautiful woman in the world or has a fantastic figure you must be jealous or vile 🤔.

I find it strange that Benedict Cumberbatch often pops up on the "hottest male celeb" board but equally many think Tom Hardy isn't gorgeous.

gamerchick · 23/03/2022 06:30

If you think this is brutal then you've clearly not read the racist threads about her SIL.
Interesting to see some of the "you're all vile" posters about Kate don't feel quite the need to defend brown wives of Princes

I've said the same on those threads as I'm saying here. It's weird, those who are slagging off a woman they have never met is weird. Leave her alone.

There is a board for the royal family, those strange people who probably need to get laid more should go and do their whinging in there.

I honestly have never ever read a racist post on MM, ever.

I think it’s been whipped up as a “thing”, which doesn’t actually happen on Mumsnet

Perhaps you could link to one?

Well that’s very odd because MN is a fairly racist forum actually. Far more so than other big forums I’ve posted on.

Blindness to and ignorance of racism is part of the problem really so it doesn’t surprise me that you’ve never seen any.

Juniper68 · 23/03/2022 08:49

I thought this thread was removed? Confused

Piccalino3 · 23/03/2022 08:54

This is a really interesting thread, glad it's back. I think Kate looks fabulous and it's made me think that I want to have botox!
@RonaldMcDonald - given that most of your posts of this thread are criticisms of the clothing and looks of a woman you don't even know I don't think your views are exactly worthy of my attention. Incidentally, how is it you know so much (??) about what is or isn't discussed on a Caribbean tour? Do you seriously think that "wearing prints, dancing and playing drums with the locals" is all that they did?
Yes, I think they are publicly as deep as puddles. I have no idea of their private views but having heard them speak unscripted on Ukraine for instance, they’ll need to work hard to improve.

It is sad because this was what was expected for British royals to remain functional and accepted for decades and I think that the Establishment has been caught on the hop rather.

We no longer want to see two white people badly dance with native or indigenous people in colonised or ex colonial lands. I am embarrassed to see them pretend inspecting soldiers in Commonwealth lands that require visas to visit England.
Nor do we want them to have pretend causes or jobs. Kate’s Early Years work is akin to a c grade A-level. Parroting information any trainee social worker could off the cuff - it isn’t ground breaking or important. People know this and are embarrassed for them. Those who aren’t are angry or becoming angry.
In a world where we are increasingly connected and all struggling to an extent ‘being ruled over’ by rich white people because of their birth feels wrong.
I don’t really care about what twee outfit is being worn or what toy soldier award uniform is being pretended for the occasion.
I think proper discussions need to be had about race, colonisation, slavery and reparations and sadly the BRF must be seen as front men representatives, a remaining hangover, of a much wider problem

If the BRF are to survive , in some wildly scaled back form, they will need to be informed, be able to speak off script and have a desire to do good and make a change.
Having a few Charities or actual jobs they are immersed in would be an improvement. Camilla is good in this regard.

Recently spent time with a professional in the field so have improved my spotting skills!

Interesting that it’s seen as viciously offensive to neutrally comment that someone has had work. There’s definitely a shame attached to it. Most of my friends have had it done I don’t see saying as much as a “vicious attack”.

MarshaBradyo · 23/03/2022 09:11

I think there’s Botox involved, which is fine, many do it.

She looks great and I love the yellow dress, really suits her

Agreed

In the olden days - I am old - we said you chose arse or face as you age. As it was impossible to have both. Now you can.
You can see the botox from how her smile gives bunny wrinkles and her forehead doesn’t move naturally or frown.
Her lovely plump skin - only on her face - is provided cosmetically. This is normal for many women let alone an Uber rich endlessly photographed celebrity.
There is no shame in it. It irritates those who wish to portray Kate as a pure and natural English rose. She is lovely and have support from injectables

the80sweregreat · 23/03/2022 09:17

If I had her money I'd have it done.
What goes it matter anyway?
She looks great and if she didn't have it done people would still pick at her and criticize. The pressure must be huge to always look fantastic.

MsTSwift · 23/03/2022 09:17

I haven’t as trying to be feminist and Dh vehemently opposed to it but if I had a job that put me in the public eye I definitely would I think - though probably too late for it now (47) 😁

It seemed like something you were impassioned about I assumed you might want to confirm your point Because ive been on MN for years as I can’t recall any racist posts at all. I really can’t!

@TatianaBis - I don't think MN is that racist actually. It has elements of it, yes, but no more than certain other big forums.

But then I have always seen MN and NM as quite white, middle class forums, outwardly.

Gonnagetgoing · 23/03/2022 09:45

@TatianaBis - oh I know you. You like to refer to your Italian heritage don't you?

I think if you're bothering to prove a point, you should back it up with relevant evidence.

FWIW, on certain posts about e.g. Meghan then yes, there has been racism on MN previously in the past. But generally, on the whole, I don't see a lot of racism here and I'd hope it was stamped out immediately by the moderators.

Favourodds · 23/03/2022 09:45

If it makes people feel better, we can also talk about how Wills losing his hair was one of the great ageing events of our time? Disastrous for his personal brand of floppy, centrist dad.

This isn't brutal anyway. It's just acknowledging that people in the public eye have work done. It's better for all women that we acknowledge that, and that it subsequently creates an unrealistic beauty standard for the rest of us.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 23/03/2022 09:52

What a spiteful thread. All very backhanded compliments. Ugh.

RonaldMcDonald · 23/03/2022 09:53

William is a sad case of premature beauty that faded fast.
The Windsor men are not blessed in the hair department - Harry is fast balding too. I think this is something we as women often gloss over but when my friend lost his hair he was devastated by it. I think we are too matter of fact over what must feel very out of control.
William has an unfortunate smile too - or maybe is pushed into situations where he has to fake a smile a lot and this is what we see.
