@RonaldMcDonald - given that most of your posts of this thread are criticisms of the clothing and looks of a woman you don't even know I don't think your views are exactly worthy of my attention. Incidentally, how is it you know so much (??) about what is or isn't discussed on a Caribbean tour? Do you seriously think that "wearing prints, dancing and playing drums with the locals" is all that they did?
Yes, I think they are publicly as deep as puddles. I have no idea of their private views but having heard them speak unscripted on Ukraine for instance, they’ll need to work hard to improve.
It is sad because this was what was expected for British royals to remain functional and accepted for decades and I think that the Establishment has been caught on the hop rather.
We no longer want to see two white people badly dance with native or indigenous people in colonised or ex colonial lands. I am embarrassed to see them pretend inspecting soldiers in Commonwealth lands that require visas to visit England.
Nor do we want them to have pretend causes or jobs. Kate’s Early Years work is akin to a c grade A-level. Parroting information any trainee social worker could off the cuff - it isn’t ground breaking or important. People know this and are embarrassed for them. Those who aren’t are angry or becoming angry.
In a world where we are increasingly connected and all struggling to an extent ‘being ruled over’ by rich white people because of their birth feels wrong.
I don’t really care about what twee outfit is being worn or what toy soldier award uniform is being pretended for the occasion.
I think proper discussions need to be had about race, colonisation, slavery and reparations and sadly the BRF must be seen as front men representatives, a remaining hangover, of a much wider problem
If the BRF are to survive , in some wildly scaled back form, they will need to be informed, be able to speak off script and have a desire to do good and make a change.
Having a few Charities or actual jobs they are immersed in would be an improvement. Camilla is good in this regard.
