European city break suggestions please

It would be in October, myself, DH and DS 13. We absolutely loved Barcelona but want to go somewhere different. Any ideas?

Riga is perfect for a weekend. Lots of different architecture (Art Deco, medieval, communist era), green spaces and some lovely restaurants. (But beaver is nasty.)

Rome,Florence,Paris,Porto,Lisbon.
