OMG! I hoovered my mattress...

BruceAndNosh · 21/03/2022 10:21

yes, I've hoovered it before with a traditional upright bagged vac, but this is the first time I've done it with a recently last year purchased Shark with the clear dust container.
I'm appalled.
I would post a picture of the pile of gunk but fear I might get banned for offensive content

I want to see! Might push me to do mine

SwissCheeseRentedChildren · 21/03/2022 10:23

Dust porn, yes please! rubs thighs

NaomhPadraigin · 21/03/2022 10:25

I don't know if I want to see or not...
I think it would terrify me, as I've never hoovered mine 😲

If you've never hoovered yours, the sight of my pile of god knows what would render you hysterical

What do you think your mistake was, OP? Some doors shouldn't be opened as monsters lurk behind them. I won't post the other doors otherwise you will never rest.

I believe the mould the silently grows inside rubber squeaky toys is the stuff of nightmares

Bath toys.
Washing machines.
Many others.

There were horror films about such things banned in the 80s video nasty era as they were worse than slasher flicks.

2022IamHavingYa · 21/03/2022 10:57

Off to hoover my mattress...

BruceAndNosh · 21/03/2022 11:03

My husband is an Olympic standard sneezer.
I was discussing yesterday how much less he is sneezing these days since we got a cleaner.
This is what prompted me to hoover the mattress

Photo OP. We want a photo.

(First spot porn, now dust porn. Mumsnet just gets better and better Grin)

MrsMiddleMother · 21/03/2022 11:03

I didn't know we were supposed to hoover the mattress! How often do people usually do it?

Dodie66 · 21/03/2022 11:04

Pic OP. Please

BruceAndNosh · 21/03/2022 11:10

Fucking terrifying.
I really wish I'd name changed before starting this thread

Oooh I'm kinda excited to hoover my mattress now, I'm even going to empty & wash out the hoover bin before I do it 😁

Took · 21/03/2022 11:16

I wanted a photo.

I hate it, thanks.

Must go buy new mattress 😱

Calandor · 21/03/2022 11:17

Great now I have to add hoovering the mattress to my list of tasks.

NightmareSlashDelightful · 21/03/2022 11:21

Is that dust or is it loose-ish mattress stuffing though?

My mattress isn’t supposed to be vacuumed, according to the manufacturer, it disturbs/dislodges the fillings and can damage the tufts. They suggest using a clothes brush instead.

Mine’s an all-natural mattress though, I don’t know if that makes any difference.

NightmareSlashDelightful · 21/03/2022 11:22

Vispring also say: don’t vacuum our mattresses

This made me laugh 😂😬 Very funny!
FunkyPhantom · 21/03/2022 11:23

😆😆😆

Your next task should be to steam clean your toilet, all around the seat fixings......that's an eye opener👍

BruceAndNosh · 21/03/2022 11:24

Because of Mr Sneezy. we don't have natural bedding .
Our mattress has a memory foam topper.
I'm pretty sure that's all skin and dust mites.

Bleugh

the80sweregreat · 21/03/2022 11:25

Why not ? I've done it before and it's amazing the dust that comes off it
Your meant to hoover them regularly and change a mattress every eight years or something too. Not that I have done this for a while.
I do love my mattress protector too , although it is another thing to wash and dry.

FunkyPhantom · 21/03/2022 11:27

😆😆😆

Top tip ......don't Google ' Grimeporn ' and look for comparisons 👍

the80sweregreat · 21/03/2022 11:28

Washing out the washing machine drawer is an eye opener too , but then I live in a hard water area ! The black scum is awful.
Mine is an old machine though.

Bytrgrewd · 21/03/2022 11:29

Not as bad as I was expecting
