Channel 4 Will Putin go nuclear? Irresponsible?

This has terrified my 15 year old daughter and totally made me feel sick.

Speculating on something like this is beyond words imo. I think it’s just sensationalist irresponsible programming. It’s just building in a disgusting g war situation and making it worse. And it was on before the watershed.

Agree.

QueenOfHiraeth · 19/03/2022 19:43

I agree, programmes like this feel like tempting fate and have no purpose other than to scare people

hightimer · 19/03/2022 19:43

Agree. Complete sensationalist bullshit.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 19/03/2022 19:45

I’ve complained to Ofcom and Channel4.

I’m absolutely outraged by it and can’t explain why.

I found it quite balanced, and I generally avoid anything war related!

AnotherNC22 · 19/03/2022 19:48

I agree with @LizDoingTheCanCan

I've just watched it. I disagree with you that it was sensationalised - it is a fact of what is going on in Europe. In fact, the programme explained that if he does use nukes, it's more likely to be a small incident on an already contaminated base. As opposed to a chemical weapon, which he has already used in the UK.

However, listening to the man in the bunker made me realise that we don't have a torch or a battery radio. I'm going to change that now.

If your daughter is terrified by this, never let her watch Threads.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 19/03/2022 19:50

It was on before the watershed. I’ve seen Threads.

I find it on par with stuff in The Sun. Not reallly needed and just finding something sensationalist in a horrible situation.

OP posts:
LizDoingTheCanCan · 19/03/2022 19:51

It was nothing like Threads!

What did you find sensationalist about it?

OppsUpsSide · 19/03/2022 19:54

I understand that you didn’t like it OP, but maybe you need to take responsibility for being more careful about what you and your DD watch.

AnotherNC22 · 19/03/2022 19:55

There was nothing it it that would require it to be on after the watershed though? It was an extension of what would be covered on the news. It has obviously upset you, but that doesn't mean it was inappropriate for the timeslot.
PinkSyCo · 19/03/2022 19:56

The clue was in the title what the programme was about. Why on earth did you and your DD chose to watch it?

Samsalone · 19/03/2022 19:57

It was factual, John Snow excellent as ever.
There was a warning before the show about the content and the title alone gave a good clue of its content.
It was no more horrific than the news that is on every night at the same time.

saltnvinegarlover · 19/03/2022 20:01

I couldn't even watch it and I am a grown woman was just too much

Bedsheets4knickers · 19/03/2022 20:29

We caught the last bit , it's alarming but informative . If it does go nuclear we could possibly just stay at home if we are prepped . I think it was quite rationalised and sensible and probably abit telling of what they think could happen. They said it might be worth prepping . So tomorrow I'm
Going Costco to prep and I really hope im bring hysterical.

Bedsheets4knickers · 19/03/2022 20:30

Being

berlinbabylon · 19/03/2022 20:32

I didn't know it was on, but I wouldn't have watched it if I had.

C4 has a lot of very silly things on, do you complain to Ofcom about all of them? TVs have an off button. Or you just switch channel.

MajorCarolDanvers · 19/03/2022 20:37

What did you complain about if you can't explain what's bothering you?
CannaBelieve · 19/03/2022 20:55

it was very factual

too sensitive ? put ant n dec or something on

sorry, theres a war going on out there with potentially very serious consequences...some of us are following it

you knew the title, did you think it would be fluffy and bright or something?

SickAndTiredAgain · 19/03/2022 21:00

I don’t understand why you (and your daughter) watched it. It’s pretty clear from the title what the content will be.

AlternativePerspective · 19/03/2022 21:05

So, did you watch it, allow your daughter to be terrified it just so you could do the dramatic thing of reporting to ofcom? Because the title left us in no doubt as to what it was about.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 19/03/2022 21:26

You have to take responsibility for your own viewing activity and that of your non adult children.

FrownedUpon · 19/03/2022 21:29

Surely you knew from the title what the content was likely to be. Be more careful what you watch if you’re both so sensitive. I found it interesting and balanced.

TheRealistBub · 19/03/2022 21:42

This with fucking massive bells on

venusmay · 19/03/2022 21:48

I didn't see this but since I stopped following the news I've not been as anxious. I do think the news coverage really does affect people.

CannaBelieve · 19/03/2022 21:49

op is 'outraged' by it....why?
