I'm a yarn addict. I only crocheted up until very recently when I bought a circular kntting loom - I bloody love it!

DH says he'll divorce me over the clacking sou d of it mind you - but it keeps me sane. I listen to an audio book for an hour or so on an evening and clack away making earwarmers and hats.

I'm planning a craft stall with a colleague who sews which I'm excited about.

People.are always surprised when they hear I crochet and 'knit' as apparent I'm not the type!

What's your craft magic?

So many typos - sorry!

I knit and sew. Currently on the final toe of a pair of socks - I'm a slow knitter and started them in December - and in the middle of cutting out a coat. That cutting out will probably take me longer than sewing it together as there are a lot of pieces in main fabric, lining and interfacing.

I'm a needle felter, mainly dogs on commission, but arthritis in my thumb is really hampering my crafting. We take our health so much for granted, and then all of a sudden it's too late. So do as much as you can while you can.

I make plushies, but am getting into sculpting now (with various clays like polymer and sulfur-free stuff). Also, Zentangle. I like to get lost in an audiobook in a cafe and doodle for hours.

Titsflyingsouth · 19/03/2022 11:56

I knit, crochet, cross-stitch and embroider mostly.

I fancy dabbling in needle-felting and needle-punching at some point. But can't justify buying more supplies until I've diminished my current stock!

elephantmarchingin · 19/03/2022 11:59

I used to make bracelets until DS was born

Honourofgrayskull · 19/03/2022 12:02

I've just learnt how to knit over the last few weeks and I think I'm addicted!
I keep trying crochet but it's harder than knitting in my opinion but I will keep trying as I love the look of crochet

MonkeyPuddle · 19/03/2022 12:04

I make punch needle pieces when I have the energy and the time.

elQuintoConyo · 19/03/2022 12:07

Sewing, mostly clothes, toys and bags for the DC. Most recently handy things for camping and the dreaded face masks.

However, I got really into cross stitch late last year and I love the way it's a slow process before I start looking like something! I have just finished Colombo for DH. I've made a tryptych of Christmas film quotes for my best friend (Elf, Die Hard and Muppets Christmas Carol), a tryptych of TV shows I love for me (X-Foles, Twin Peaks, Golden Girls). I've made a dog for one friend, Ghostbusters for a friend's DC, Harry potter for another... In 6 months Grin

I design my own ideas on squared paper, then follow my pattern. It's therapeutic.

FlippyFloppyFlappy · 19/03/2022 12:08

I make things with clay (polymer, air dry and sculpey), and painting too.

CrazyBaubles · 19/03/2022 12:15

I crochet and cross stitch mostly, but last summer I bought a sewing machine so am trying to learn how to use it (and still not sure exactly what I want to make with it), plus I decided to teach myself to knit last weekend which is going well (I think).

My DH is a teacher so lots of evenings in this house were spent with him working and me faffing around doing odd jobs or just wasting time online so I've picked up stuff to keep me busy (and sane).

ineveraskedordeservedthis · 19/03/2022 12:25

Personalised mugs, greetings cards, posters and framed prints.

wonkylegs · 19/03/2022 12:34

I knit stuff for my mum who has Alzheimer's- mainly fidget muffs but also the odd lap blanket or scarf. She picks them apart so it's a fairly full time hobby keeping her supplied.
I'm also making party bags at the moment out of scrap fabric for soon to be 6yo DS - we are having a Easter egg hunt so the kids will get the bags to collect the eggs in.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 19/03/2022 12:40

Crochet and I paint pebbles.

CheeseMaiden · 19/03/2022 12:41

@wonkylegs I love the idea of party bags from scrap fabric! I will have to save that idea for when DD reaches that age.

I am also a sewer, mainly homewares but now clothes for DD (also my fabric stash is out of control and pattern pieces for little ones uses up the odd bits of nice fabric that are too small for most grown up projects)

NeedleNoodle3 · 19/03/2022 12:42

I have a 1:12 scale dolls house and make things to go inside.

mrstea301 · 19/03/2022 12:45

I cross stitch, sew, and I've just started knitting and crochet, all apart from seeing started during lockdown! Love it!!

Gilead · 19/03/2022 12:46

I crochet, blankets in the main. I also do embroidery.

Seafog · 19/03/2022 12:51

I make art and decor from sea glass that I find

Imherenowandthen · 19/03/2022 13:11

I start lots but don't finish much Blush I'm currently crocheting a blanket, knitting gloves, working on a miniature house kit, I have an air dry clay kit. I make scented soy wax candles. I'd like to try cross stitch if I can find a kit where the stitches aren't too small.

Ohmnomnom · 19/03/2022 13:12

elQuintoConyo · 19/03/2022 13:18

Ohmnomnom that's awesome!

NightmareSlashDelightful · 19/03/2022 13:25

I knit and crochet, although not terribly well.

I’m trying to teach myself how to dismantle/repair broken watches at the moment. It’s absorbing but extremely fiddly, not to mention wearing on the eyes because everything is tiny and you often have to magnify.

I also write romance/erotica stories, and I’ve written comedy scripts previously. Just for my own amusement really.

I’m thinking of doing something around restoring an old car. Something 1970s and cool. I know a bit about repair mechanics but a full restoration is a bit of a leap for me. Plus I don’t have the space just now.

ComtesseDeSpair · 19/03/2022 13:27

I made this. Maybe not the strictest definition of “crafty”, but fuck me, when we were quoted £16,000 for a basic home office by a professional I was damn well willing to give it a go myself! All in, and once I’ve cladded it and had electrics fitted, it will have cost under £3,000.

And then I might reconsider my day job Grin

I love seeing peoples work.!

I crochet avidly. It comes everywhere with me and is part of the glue which holds me together.

I stuck to blankets for years but have learnt mosaic crochet, filet, and have made 2 cable cardigans in the past 6/12 months. I mainly make stuff for others but am trying to make more things for myself.
