Are you crafty? What do you make?

I'm a yarn addict. I only crocheted up until very recently when I bought a circular kntting loom - I bloody love it!

DH says he'll divorce me over the clacking sou d of it mind you - but it keeps me sane. I listen to an audio book for an hour or so on an evening and clack away making earwarmers and hats.

I'm planning a craft stall with a colleague who sews which I'm excited about.

People.are always surprised when they hear I crochet and 'knit' as apparent I'm not the type!

What's your craft magic?

I cross stitch. Helps me keep sane!

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 19/03/2022 14:13

I knit, do a bit of crochet and cross stitch. It used to be mostly blankets, hats and cardigans for the local hospital, until they stopped taking them. Most of the collection has just gone to Ukraine. I’m doing lightweight adult cardigans at the moment.

@Shannn, your message has popped up in a thread about crafts. I think if you go to the main page of Chat and click on Start aNew Post, you’ll reach a lot of people who’ll be able to advise you. Sorry you’re having a tough time.

I knit and sew and sometimes do embroidery. I've made soft toys and cardigans, cushion covers and some of my own clothes.

I do photography as a hobby and have had my photos printed and framed for the wall.

I have recently started learning calligraphy and made some cards for my siblings' birthdays and for mothers' day.

I knit and crochet and love them both. I always have a crochet hook in my bag. I sew, mainly clothes for my children. I also spin wool from fleece and dye wool, etc. I also love cross-stitch and embroidery but will try most things.

Cross stitch mainly, but I switch to knitting every now and again.

@ComtesseDeSpair

I made this. Maybe not the strictest definition of “crafty”, but fuck me, when we were quoted £16,000 for a basic home office by a professional I was damn well willing to give it a go myself! All in, and once I’ve cladded it and had electrics fitted, it will have cost under £3,000.

And then I might reconsider my day job Grin

Wow! Just wow!
ArabellaRockerfella · 19/03/2022 15:17

I crochet and needle felt. Great for relaxing and unwinding.

Piggy666 · 19/03/2022 15:24

I've done a couple of very large abstract paintings for my living room
Couldn't find anything I liked so bought a couple of huge canvases and some acrylic paints and did it myself
I've had a couple of people ask if I could paint one for their study/hallway which I'm chuffed about
And a couple of people have asked if I need counselling due to the style of the brushstrokes.......

Gilead · 19/03/2022 15:25

@Workyticket, I’m about 40 minutes from you!
Dd collects sea glass.

EdithGrantham · 19/03/2022 15:41

I am a jack-of-all crafts, master of none Grin Over the years I have tried- cross-stitch, embroidery, crochet, needle felting, glass painting, card making, fused glass art, painting with acrylics and water colours, floristry in the way of Christmas wreaths and garlands, faux calligraphy and hand lettering. I very rarely even finish one project as I get bored or go wrong and can't see past the fault. I have boxes full of materials and half-started things and the house is full of furniture that I fully intend to upcycle "one day".

LadyLothbrook · 19/03/2022 16:03

Gorgeous thread. I do need felting/polymer clay/cricut crafts/upcoming. Basically anything I can get my children interested in to broaden their skill set and keep them off the devices. Tomorrow we are doing flower hammering onto nice cards for Mothers Day.

KitKattaktik · 19/03/2022 16:17

I do crochet, knitting, sewing, make resin coasters and key rings, make and sell fused glass ornaments. I've my own art studio with my glass kiln in at home which also has all my craft stuff in to keep me from endlessly scrolling on my phone.

anotherneutralname · 19/03/2022 16:21

Sewing, embroidery and knitting - recently learnt to knit socks and also horribly behind already working on a temperature blanket.

5thnonblonde · 19/03/2022 16:29

Hey @EdithGrantham I’m a fellow dabbler! My mum was a dressmaker and I paint so knocking around I’ve got bits for dressmaking, patchwork, crochet, knitting, embroidery, screen printing, Lino cutting, watercolour/gouache/acrylic and I’ve just started messing about with Procreate on the iPad! I guess if I had to pick a camp I’d say I was a painter who can sew but I’m a sucker for a new gadget…

pupcakes · 19/03/2022 16:49

I can make basic crochet blankets and have made some for friends and family. I enjoy it a lot, but it hurts my fingers now and the dogs don't leave the yarn alone, so it's become a pain.

I really want to start cross stitch, but don't know where to start!

pupcakes · 19/03/2022 16:50

@Nicoise

I'm a needle felter, mainly dogs on commission, but arthritis in my thumb is really hampering my crafting. We take our health so much for granted, and then all of a sudden it's too late. So do as much as you can while you can.
Thank you for this reminder, @Nicoise. Flowers
TheWoollybacksWife · 19/03/2022 17:07

I knit and crochet. I taught myself to knit socks during the first lockdown and I make blankets, novelty bits and bobs for craft sales and keep my ever expanding wider family in baby cardigans and hats. I've also dabbled in paper craft, needle felting and cross stitch.

@pupcakes you could buy a cross stitch magazine. They usually have a kit as a freebie and you will get everything you need to make a small item without huge outlay for all the equipment. The only extra you might need is a small embroidery hoop to keep your work taut while you stitch.

MyBottleOfRibena · 19/03/2022 17:09

@NeedleNoodle3

I have a 1:12 scale dolls house and make things to go inside.
I’d love to see some of your dolls house stuff
