Staying in I mean. Bonus if easy to cook. Not a takeaway though as I have to drive miles to get one!
I had planned what to have but its not something the DC will love so thinking of something else

Not pizza (1 dc loves, me and other dc dont )

SpottyStripyDuvet · 18/03/2022 10:32

ImFree2doasiwant · 18/03/2022 10:32

I would said pizza but as that's out, oven chips, breaded fish and peas.

Sunflowergirl1 · 18/03/2022 10:33

Home made curry. DH is a wiz at it

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 18/03/2022 10:35

We do chicken wraps using those southern fried bits you can buy ... add salad and lots of mayo and sweet chilli sauce , yum bit like McDonald's. With oven chips. Top tea

MonkeyPuddle · 18/03/2022 10:38

I chop up chicken thighs, breadcrumb then bake them, serve with homemade wedges (sprinkled with Chinese 5 spice), curried baked beans, corn on the cobs and chip shop curry sauce. It’s vaguely healthy but feels like a takeaway. Kids lap it up.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 18/03/2022 10:39

Oooh Monkey yours sounds lovely

TonTonMacoute · 18/03/2022 10:41

DS's absolute favourite was spaghetti carbonara. Lucky, because it's very quick and easy to make!

nearlyspringyay · 18/03/2022 10:42

Home made Nandos - chicken in pitta with Nando sauce and rub, my version of macho peas and fries

fakeaway doner kebab - really easy and really good with pitta, cabbage salad, garlic sauce

Anything mexican but particularly nachos fajitas

iklboo · 18/03/2022 10:43

Tacos
Fajitas
Burgers & good chips

MonkeyPuddle · 18/03/2022 10:45

@tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz it’s the Chinese 5 spice on the wedges that make it so tasty. DP accidentally used it years ago when making some instead of paprika and it’s all we use on them now. Heaven when dunked into Mayo!

DistrictCommissioner · 18/03/2022 10:46

Poke bowls (a variant thereof - sushi rice, tuna, peppers, cucumber, avocado - poke sauce, pickled ginger, soy, sesame seeds, seaweed) which kids can assemble themselves.

MonkeyPuddle · 18/03/2022 10:47

Oh and to make any tea a treat I Chuck a blanket on the living room floor and declare it a picnic. My kids love it.

tigerbear · 18/03/2022 10:48

Chicken Kievs and chips

ImFree2doasiwant · 18/03/2022 10:52

@MonkeyPuddle that's exactly what I was thinking!

I cook all the chicken veg etc, put a little bit of spice in and than take dc portion out, then whack on all the spice for us. Saves washing 2 pans. All our treat teas are things like that. Tacos, pulled pork, even hot dogs or burgers are great if you go all out on the sides (coleslaw, corn on the cob, etc)
SockFluffInTheBath · 18/03/2022 11:01

Singapore noodles for us, you could leave out the chilli for DC if needs be.

NoSquirrels · 18/03/2022 11:10

Fajitas/wraps/loaded tortillas - sour cream essential

Burgers (chicken/beef/pulled pork) & chips

Party buffet (mozzarella sticks, Chinese starters like prawn toast, frozen bao buns/dumplings, obligatory bit of salad/edamame)

NoSquirrels · 18/03/2022 11:11

And sometimes just an individual selection of ‘posh-ish’ ready meals - DH & I curry or Thai, kids usually pasta based like Mac n cheese. Everyone gets what they like the most/fancy that day.

spiderlight · 18/03/2022 11:14

Mexican - tortillas with veggie chilli, guacamole etc.

forlornlorna · 18/03/2022 11:14

Stir fry in our house

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 18/03/2022 11:15

Skinless/boneless chicken thighs, flattened with a mallet, marinated in buttermilk for a few hours, then dipped, in flour, egg and parmesan & breadcrumbs and fried. SO delicious.

Served with wedges. And some veg if you must.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 18/03/2022 11:17

I'm gonna prep that now actually.
