Where do all the elderly birds go to die?

Why aren’t there flocks of dead birds all over the shop? I imagine wildlife gets some of them, but where are all the others?!

My cat recently made his first kill. I left the dead starling where he dropped it and next day it was gone. I expect it was one of the foxes that visit my garden.
