Are you thinking of taking in Ukrainians?

Came here thinking there would be thread about this, apologies if I've missed it.
We are a family of three with a spare room and I feel like this is something we could do, but am I seeing it through rose-tinted glasses? DH and kids on board with it.

As an ex refugee, I will offer. I have 20 members of family who were Vietnamese refugees in London and we have all become hard working top class professionals ranging from cosmetic surgeon to banking to having their own gym businesses, since arrival in 1979. We owe it to UK to pay back and support the Ukrainians and without the hospitality, kindness and willingness of the people here in the first place, we simply wouldn't have survived.

I don't have the space in my house. I do hope those with second homes step up, though (I don't mean those with holiday homes, as they will have bookings. and obligations to cleaners etc, but if you just have a home sitting there that you use three weekends a year, it's worth offering). Ditto if you have a garden annex with its own loo/shower (I do have a garden office but it's a bit bijou to take someone in, though it has a sofabed in it, and f we'd been able to squeeze a loo/sink it, it might have done for one person).

A person I know has a huge house with some outbuildings and she is taking a family in, and so is her neighbour.

It's not easy in the UK because our houses are generally so small compared with overseas. But so many do have second homes.

Thanks for that Alwayscheerful, if they are potentially able to pay their own bills that would be very reassuring. It's not clear to me from the website yet though.
