Could be fabulous, do you think we will see it on Grand designs in the future ?

Pensilva; rumoured hereabouts to be a hotbed of inbreeding. I tell dh to lock the car doors and not talk to the inhabitants when he goes to give blood there.

Malibuismysecrethome · 11/03/2022 20:12

I don’t think it’s a doer-upper more a pull-it-downer. It would be a money pit to restore. Shame it is so derelict and has been left to decay.

Gilead · 11/03/2022 20:16

Bit of wood hip, touch of artex…

🤣😱

namechanged00 · 11/03/2022 20:21

I saw a thread this morning someone had 700k budget, had put offer in on a house but DP wasn’t keen he would like a farm no neighbours this would be great, wishful thinking on my part, love a happy ending, have people crossed posted On here and found their happy ever after

Geezabreak82 · 11/03/2022 20:23

I can’t believe there was an elderly woman living in there until 15 years ago! Did you read the bit where it says she moved into the kitchen and kept away from the walls? Poor old dear!

Wrongkindofovercoat · 11/03/2022 20:24

For all those saying you would need deep pockets, suppose you get it for 400k and spend a million, you would have something really special, as special as this 2 bed apartment in London ?

PS - listed places like that round here tend to go up in flames before a developer sweeps in and successfully makes the case that it can’t be saved before tearing it down.

Pyri · 11/03/2022 20:27

That’s absolutely incredible. I hope a lovely family where one parent is an architect and the other is an interior designer or builder or something buy it

It would be so sad if it’s bought by property developers and the land turned in to a nightmare new estate

Clymene · 11/03/2022 20:28

Or they buy it, leave it to continue to rot and then have to pull it down. Battersea Power Station springs to mind (and yes I know they've kept the chimneys but the whole building was listed. And then they took the roof off and couldn't afford the renovations ...

Thanks for posting the link, fascinating looking at the pictures. One of them (the picture of the room with the oldest bath I think) has a pair of boots that look as if someone has just taken them off.

Interesting that the newest part of the house was the first part to go to ruin. I can just imagine Dorothy living in one room - she was evidently made of sterner stuff than I am!

justasking111 · 11/03/2022 20:30

There's one like this in Anglesey, grade two listed Cadw made things so difficult for the owners one night it caught fire only one wall left standing. They were expected to rebuild it to grade two standard again. So no I wouldn't fancy it

MinglingFlamingo · 11/03/2022 20:30

The fact that that's £395k on that part of the world says a lot. You could get a 3 bed semi for that in liskeard town I reckon

Obviously has a lot of potential

TheYearOfSmallThings · 11/03/2022 20:30

I wonder how what the back story is and how it got to be in the state it is.

Me too - there's definitely a story there. The farmyard is a state.

BigRedDuck · 11/03/2022 20:30

If I won the lottery I'd totally snap that up. How gorgeous 😍

Malibuismysecrethome · 11/03/2022 20:35

It looks about the same size as Frogmore Cottage. Didn’t that cost £5 million to renovate?

FoldedCard · 11/03/2022 20:35

@SquishySquirmy

Lick of paint and some new curtains, and it'll be lovely! Plenty of fresh air is good for you, roofs are overrated.
I don't know if I'm overly pernickety but I'd venture to say it could do with replastering too, while the walls are really, really accessible.
toastfiend · 11/03/2022 20:46

I keep trying to persuade my parents to buy this - they love a project and it's the right part of the world, but they are absolutely not having any of it. 🤣

I think it's beautiful and would be amazing in (a lot of!) time. Will need more than a million spent on it, though, I would have thought. If I had the money I think I'd go for it, but sadly I don't! In awe of the lady who lived there until relatively recently, she must have been made of stern stuff.

JemimaPyjamas · 11/03/2022 20:52

The info written under Directions is, er, unusual...

Mummyoflittledragon · 11/03/2022 20:59

It looks amazing! In another lifetime, I’ll come back and buy that!

RoseMartha · 11/03/2022 21:03

Not your basic doer upper is it? 😮

It has character. I think it could be beautiful again though.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 11/03/2022 21:05

It’s beautiful. But the collapsed half was the new extension! It’s utterly beautiful. I’d love to have the money to repair it.

All the Ivy is probably hiding beautiful stonework.

indiesearcher · 11/03/2022 21:06

If it weren't for the fact it's listed I'd have it!!!

ImInStealthMode · 11/03/2022 21:09

Glorious! You can't beat seeing 'derelict area' marked proudly on the floor plan Grin

Fernandina · 11/03/2022 21:11

Oh wow. If I win the lottery this weekend, that house has my name on it.
