Semantle episode 3

Somehow we've almost filled 2 threads already so here is thread 3. I still need a distraction from the news, and Semantle certainly fits the bill.

To understand what I'm on about followthis link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

@DoorLion I'm going to use that. Until I am in green I tend to just put random words in, hoping for the best. Once I get into green I genuinely get quite high pretty quickly. (I ignoring the horrors of yesterday's)

I'm annoyed at myself because if I had used the first word I was going to I could have got it in six but I changed my mind to something else last second

Ok 941 so I think I've found the theme but I also could be off at a tangent! This is a very annoying yet addictive game which often makes no sense whatsoever!

Got a green within 3 guesses so smugly thought I was on my way...got it 88 guesses later and about 20 more green.

It's bizarrely addictive. I'm annoyed when I can't get it quickly and annoyed when I do get it quickly 😑

Loved today's game. Much more positive experience than yesterday's conundrum! My very first word was green and a word which I try nearly every day.

They should have called it Semannoyingtle

Perhaps it's the typical size of 325 that people get?

Well, better than yesterday but not as good as when I started a few days ago. 977 was my turning point, before that I was on a slightly different path.

I think someone on here mentioned the association algorithm was based on newspaper text so perhaps there was a feature on making 325 and the target word was used in that?

Like a PP I start with random words and then try to improve score by using something related to the highest word I have unless it's a very cold word. Today I started when on the phone to my mum (bad daughter!) and she used a word so I tried both the exact word and then a different ending and got word 946/1000 on my 6th attempt. Thanks mum!

Apart from 72, which is probably too low to be useful, my green words are all adjectives like 835 and 842 - I'm guessing used with the target word rather than directly related, and too generic to help much.

Far more simple today, it was my second green word!

Part of my drive to solve this now is finding out what 325 is and why it’s weird!

See I was right - am now on 976 but thinking it's the tangent option not the theme 🤔 I can't think of any more words that mean the same thing!
